I can imagine you taking over that weedy unloved plot next to yours-don't know if it would be allowed but the transformation would be fun to watch!
Love the 'Come On Betsy' comment for your brassica ... my dad used to say that when the car wouldn't start on a cold 70's morning!
Yes, I quite enjoy hand weeding. I don't enjoy trying to stand up afterwards though.
Popping extras into an unused plot counts as guerilla gardening in my view! Well done!
Your channel and content is so addictive, really informative and engaging thank you. You don't need the BBC , they want flowers and pointless lawns, not to mention the politics but your content is truthful and genuinely beneficial for our health so power to you my good man!
Hi Tony, I love my hori hori knife, its such a great tool, weeding, planting & it has endless abilities in the garden. Your plants are looking very healthy. Im sure they will be ok, but, you have a plan B, its will be ok.😊 the bed does look lovely. Great video update and thenks for sharing 😊
Love the gorrila planting mate😂😂👍👌
Hi Tony enjoyed vid your so funny would you consider taking over plot next to you if poss ?
High tony your tomato plants and chillies are very big why don’t you plant them out now? They are more than ready. They all look amazing
Have you heard anything from the old boy?
You've earned brownie points with me for the gorilla growing for sure 👍
That’s all that matters to me 🤣🌈👍
Guerrilla gardening, Tony. We'll make a hippy out of you yet 🤩🥀🌻
Hi Tony just scrolling through youtube I can't believe you've had you polytunnel 3yrs
Tell me about it!
@@TonyCSmith money well spent though
Weeds! Dod, man you're so happy you don't have my neighbors gardening before or behind or alongside of you! I've never known such folk for not getting after weeds until the seed heads have blown, especially the dandelions: it looks like a sea of sunny yellow over the back fence, but only for a while and then it's a grey-ish white and *then* the yellow's all in my kitchen garden and the turf lawn, too. I'm forever pulling or levering out dandelions, shot grass (will I ever be rid of shot grass!) and a few other pesky plants including something I'm hoping you don't have to deal with: pokeweed. Daren't mow it, it just keeps growing its root system even when the stems and leaves and panicles of flowers are less than 20cm tall; the only cure for this stuff is to dig it out by the roots, so you have my sympathy whatever weeds you're dealing with!
About the carrots: that trick or hack, of using a plank over a newly sown row of carrot seeds is great because it keeps the moisture content of the soil steady enough that the seeds don't die on you which, I understand, they will if they go even slightly dry and if they're moist, then dry, then moist again, they won't germinate. Once the carrots have broken the surface, you can remove the plank. Also seems to me that I've seen a plank protecting some kind of seed in your allotment plot via your videos, so you must know this already.
Still and all, I hadn't had any idea that carrot seeds were or are that sensitive....
Your going to love them overnight Oats, put what ever you like in that jar...fantastic....good video aswell thankyou bonny lad 🌱🌱🌱💞
Just watched your video Tony and saw you plantef cabbage and tomatoes in the same bed! They apparently don't make good companions..the brassicas stops the tomatoes growing .Not sure how true it is though ???
LOL, blame poor, JB :) Can you get a frost net like Charles Dowding to chuck over your tomato bed? See if you can chuck some flower seeds along the path to your plot. It would look pretty in summer.
The wifes the queen of fleece.
She just covers hers up to protect if needed
Fingers crossed for you
Get a letter or 5 wrote to the council Tony😂 extra growing space is always a good thing 🌱
Love the sound of the fog horn....
Had my XC 90 for nearly 10 years. Love it!
I’m driving around in a Volvo XC90 playing the Ramones! You can’t get two different forces of nature if you tried 🤣
Ha, I knew it was just a matter of time 'til you started sneaking some plants into the vacant lot. Especially those extra standbys everyone starts to cover any loses. What a shame to just throw them in the compost. I wouldn't be able to resist either.
I remember a while ago when I first started watching you mentioned something about that bit of land next to you but can’t remember what it was 😂
Would you be able to take it over? It would be so ideal 🤩
you could always fleece the crimson crush tony
Maybe put some fleece on your carrots ? Just to warm them up ? It works for me .
I am trying to avoid all mention of the C word and then you say it! 😂
Weeding. On dry sunny days just hoe off annual weeds (still dig out horsetail and dandelions of course). Annuals will just shrivel
Broccoli and bollux? is that a hybrid Tony?
Heee heee 🤣🌈👍
Why won’t your council let you take that plot on?
Aí aí aí Tony.
To early For tomato plants .
At least till last week of may .
I garden by the seat of my pants as we say over here!
I'm shouting at screen GET EM IN!
Get those tomatoes tied up
Hi Tony. I don't think you will have those plants you planted outside your plot for very long. Pigeons and of course slugs will swiftly find them. Why not put some fleece over your carrots? I think you will drown your tomatoes out with the other plants. Id put them in another bed. Keep pushing for that extra plot and grow some tall beans or peas, after all the trouble you went to build a bean / pea climber. All the best.
A little treat for them and hope my nets protect my own
@@TonyCSmith one can only but try lol
Is that weedy plot yours now tony ?? Stay safe David 👍
Alas no
That’s a shame mate
Hey Tony the allotment police will notice your wild grow and so will the slugs with all them weeds
I just lay a piece of fleece flat down on them until they germinate .
Hi where do you get you cell pots from
They had to go in sometime Tony, do you have any trouble with whitefly up there?.
Yes!!!
Tony I have those long deep rose pots dyu think they’ll do for the tomatoes?
They are to begin with but I’ll be planting mine in polytunnel soon
@@TonyCSmith I’ve got some in poly I put them in yesterday but these are for my greenhouse. 6x6 only diddie like yours so space saving is vital.
What is the Italian lettuce called please Tony
Thanks from Sweden! What are the seed trays you are using?
These ones ua-cam.com/video/kXYsZt5RXQ8/v-deo.html
y dont u take it on as yours
Wish I could
Are you north or south of the wear
I’m north Ian
@TonyCSmith I'm south and it's my first year in vegetable and greenhouse work. Emily's nursery her husband was my ex boss. That is how she learned how to propagate and grow plants
Tony ,broccoli and tomatoes don't make great companion plants .
Ha! It’s the bloody frosts I’m worried about not my stupidity 🤣🌈👍
@@TonyCSmithI've got my Rosary Beads out 🙏🙏for you . Enjoy all your videos Tony. Top man 👍
I’m sat staring at the weather forecast, then my tomatoes and back to the forecast. It looks like it will be fine but I’m so nervous.
