He is the sweetest most humble soloist I’ve met yet. He did a kids concert with my orchestra and brought a glow in the dark red bow and did some classic rock. When they cut the lights that bow was all you could see. They went crazy!!!
@Susej Christ In the sheet music, there are several passages where the performer can choose a much more difficult way to play it or an easy way. These alternate passages are called 'ossias'. It's from Italian, but I'm not sure what the Italian word actually means. This guy plays all the difficult ones. But you can also hear why nobody else does the hard passages. They sound super weird.
It's a custom rest made by Albert Markov, his father. As of the last time I looked into it 4 or 5 years ago, it's not being produced for commercial sale.

He seems a lot more gentle than other modern classicists

This is the only performance I've found that plays the ossias at the end. Super impressive.

When was this recorded?
I can't remember the exact year, but sometime in the 1980s. He did all 24 at once and they were all recorded.
You used this caprice to you Etude 5.

Guys, tell me please, is this a recording quality or something? He obviously can play well, but why the tone is so crisp and untidy sometimes?
I was told this caprice was easy.
the piece was great until markov added the sul ponticello at te end, that just ruined the whole thing
All violinists are faking the flagoulet theme at the end
