  • A long one but a good one...
Down the rabbit hole of Chintz it only made sense to make this jacket. It is a jam-packed tutorial learning the technique of drafting a pattern from a jacket, learning how to quilt and make the jacket seamless and delicous.
It is the perfect Summer cosy look and a great way to learn a new technique..

I loved the video. I want a chintz jacket. If Kate Middleton sees this she’ll want you to make her one!

    Yayyyyy an interesting Australian video!
(I watch soooo many international ones, I started to think "Come on Australia!")
😁 The jacket looks great! I love that you're also interested in earlier-century fashion as well ... bonus! I shall watch this space forthwith.

Great looking jacket. Question for you - wondering why you didn't have the walking foot engaged? It's the best feature of the Pfaff. It keeps all 3 layers moving along together without shifting. Love your video and jacket.

A walking foot would have helped with the fabric shifting during the quilting phase.

Is it better to quilt the fabric before cutting out? Great tutorial!

Chris, I just watched this and was thinking the very same thing! It could eliminate/reduce the chances of accidentally winding up with pieces that were too small. Definitely going to try this, Diane! Thanks for a great tutorial.

Well, I'm three years late but....
    French seams.
You sew the opposite way, sew wrong sides together, right sides out. Sew scant 1/4" zig zag along edge of seam (clip curves to 1/4" before sewing). Go to inside press out the seam well. Fold fabric on seam line and sew on the inside at 3/8" wide, encasing the outside edge. You can also press that and sew it down as well. Completely invisible.
