As a Belgian, our laws block us from straight up buying Santa's containers. I don't mind since I dislike WG's aggresive monetisation, and since I almost exclusively play Brawl/Ranked now and then, every Christmas I play the missions for a free Santa container. Saved 5 snowflake-certificates to get 1 Santa's Big Container, got a Navarin. Can't complain tbh.
I got 11 Ships out of 40 mega containers, (half of the containers i paid real money for, half from gold i already had), Jupiter '42, Agincourt, F Ferruccio, Hornet, Jurua, Yukon, Tiger '59, Thesus, Krasny Krym, Boise and G Hoffman from a Golden container. Also got 12500 gold back total. The rest was: 4 x XP, 11x Blue eco bonuses, 1x Coal 12500, 4x Credits 2.25mill and 4x red eco bonuses. Had 3 Golden containers total with the hoffman in one and two red boost in the other two. I feel that I did ok in terms of value of the items but It's worse to go in wanting a particular item as it'll be such a slim chance to get what you EXACTLY want. Tbh my first choice is Musashi but that's a crazy low drop rate unless i got really lucky. I feel i did ok on the black friday mega containers as i spend 10k gold and got alaska B, 6 mill credits back but cant remember what else i got. oh 3 other black friday ships including a tier X. Not bad for 10k gold. It doesnt make sense when looking at it logically (or should i say... financially?) but if i couldnt afford it i wouldn't have done it. I hope some of you f2p players have gotten something good from containers? Edit: I should add that i'm more of a casual player and haven't actually ground any tier 10 ships myself yet on the tree, only just got a tier 9 and probably about 1000 total games give or take 100 from events or operations.

I opened 40, got Thunderer, Ahitaka, Schill and Mikoyan but I dont think I got anything from those special containers, just red boosts for XP I think also as a DD main, I went in and tried Thunderer since I didn't know how rare it is now, and, warned my team that I was just trying it out and might fuck up and instantly got -2 karma in true wows community spirit

I never buy the Christmas containers and I only do the Festive Rewards and use the certificate to get free 71 small containers. So, I got a Thunderer and a Golden Container that have Chikuma 2. The rest are just flags and green boosters. So, small containers will give you ships but don't expect much from them. I guess I got lucky this year.
I did 20 myself, got Picardie (T8 french BB), 2.5k dubs, 50k coal, and 5 gold containers. Seemed pretty mid at first until I opened the gold boxes and landed all three ships (non-gold). INSTANTLY turned my luck around. I've still got 5 more mega gifts worth of certificates, so honestly kinda hoping to get more gold boxes and get some shiny boats
Nah, it ain't worth it. For black Friday event I opened 60 containers, and I got a ship exactly every 14 containers opened, 14 being the guaranteed drop. Never ever in my WoWs gambling history have I ever had such "bad luck". And I got one tier 6 ship, a Napoli B and 2 tier 8 carriers ffs (Saipan B and Richthofen B). And I hate carriers! Now for Santa containers, I opened 12 mega ones for free from tier X certificates + 31 normal containers from the event pass and reccuring randoms, 0 ships dropped. I ain't gonna spend a dime this time because of such low drops. They did something to the drop rates for sure. Last year a ship dropped for like 6-7 containers opened. Now it's double that.
I opened 40 containers and got 6 ships including: Prinz van Orang tier X, Georg Hoffmann tier X, Chikuma II tier IX, plus two tier VIII's, and a tier VII. The 3 high tier ships all came out of Golden containers. I got 4 golden containers and 3 had ships. I wasn't going to get either of the tier X's because i want really interested in them and don't have anywhere near 72,000 steel. I got lucky.
Of course, the prices get better when you whale more. When you cleared all the T5-T7 ships you will get T8 - T9 for the same price. After that you get the T10 and rare ships. I calculated that a ship will cost you on average here €16.45 . That is of course expensive for a T5 ship but for a T10 or rare ship it is very cheap compared to other ways to buy ships in this game. But you are not just getting ships. You also get a lot of other nice rewards. Those rewards help you the rest of the time to grind much faster than you normally would. All those ships, good or bad, will give you free rewards in the future. I whaled in the past and have over 650 ships in port but that means I got so far 4 ships from free Christmas boxes. I also got enough steel to get a free steel ship. And don't forget all the free economic boosters and other rewards I get because I have so many ships. So, if you whale, it is economically better to go all the way then just get mostly T5-T7 out of containers. Once you have all the ships, it will not cost very much anymore to keep up and get all the ships that you can get. I might have to spend perhaps €25 - €40 to get the remaining 3 ships that I still need. I will also need doubloons for the rest of the year to get event passes and dockyard ships. So, I still spend perhaps €100 per year to keep up with all the ships. A subscription on e.g. Spotify is more expensive. A hobby costs money.

WG Is always screwing Its players really. Been playing this game for seven years ,the drop rates were good back then up to seven ships for a full set of Christmas containers . By the way WG took away five Christmas containers a few years back. And like I say Economic Boosters are worth less when you loose 50% of your battles.

Bought 20 premium crates and received 3 ships and 10500 doubloons plus 180 days of premium and the regular stuff you get so I bought another 20 swing as received the doubloons. Ended up getting 4 more ships and regular stuff. So it cost me 60 bucks for ALL THIS!!! I’m happy as hell lol. Got the tier 9 mini a bunch of tier 8 and one tier 7
@ did you mean why double? If so wg will give you a buy one get one free for your birthday. So if you have your bday on your account they send you a notice. Then you can buy doubloons and get twice the amount of what you buy.
I havent spent money on the containers, and through all the ones ive been able to muster up from the pass, armory, advent calendar and so on I got a Maya and Molotov. Hoping to get atleast one other ship until the event ends.
That was a good haul IMO. I never buy the these things but over the last couple of years I've been grinding like crazy to get tier 10s and the total number of crates I get is slowly creeping upward. I will probably get at least 10 mega containers this year and might get as many as 15 since I'm still working on getting all my tier 10 ships added.

And I'm fine with that because I've gotten SO MANY ships through community tokens, steel, coal, random super containers, Research Bureau and dockyard midpoint rewards every year since I started. I used to keep track of it all on a yearly basis but I can't keep the things sorted anymore without resorting to a spreadsheet and that seems like a pretty silly way to spend my time. Highlights this year included WeeVee 44, WeeVee 41, Tennessee and Ohio. I average about a dozen premium ships per year and I might drop $30 into the game on my birthday to take advantage of the coupon. That's pretty good value to me. And I haven't even gotten to Santa Containers yet.
This year not going to buy anything since they ruined Ops with there bots they are so much more accurate and more aggressive. WG are trying to get you to lose 50% of your battles just like random battles and maybe other modes so you waist your boosters, I knew when they started this a year ago fu wg. I paid money for them ,I used to win 95%+ of my games and enjoyed grinding but not anymore.
When it comes the time of the year where you as WG could give something back to your players (payers, customers, milkcows) you f up and scam these very people with those crap boxes. Its, like everytime, underwhelming and, sadly, expected.

I like containers but they are just baiting you to pay a lot of money for something that is out in the thin air. You are paying for a line of code or something on wargaming server. Use that money to buy something nice for the family during the holidays
