    That 400m hurdles race had me jumping out of my seat since the start all the way to the finish. I honestly couldn’t believe my eyes when that sub 46 flashed on my screen. Rai Benjamin is such a talented athlete in many different events, and I could definitely see him breaking that sub 46 barrier if he were to have another race with Warholm and the proper training.

    I was happy to see a 2:55 again from Team USA in the 4x400, but I wasn't satisfied as well with the time that they ran. The last time we saw 2:55 was back in Beijing Olympics in 2008 that was consist of LaShawn Merritt, Angelo Taylor, David Neville & Jeremy Wariner. This new generation has more than 4 various sprinters who can put up a solid team to go under 2:55 & even challenge the world record in the mile relay. The issue is if they can put up a solid time in their respective events during Global Championship, hence the upcoming IAAF World Champs. Team USA has so much potential all around that 43 splits are starting to become the new norm vs those high 44s & 45s that we use to see the in past.

      So you were happy to see a 2:55, but you weren't happy with the time they ran? Common sense says that 2:55 was the limit for the US men in the 4x400m relay in Tokyo. Everyone executed well, 2:55 was the best they could do.

      @@timmytheinventor4746 2:55 is a great time for them considering how none of them except for Benjamin got on the podium but I’m trying to say that if these sprinters can stay healthy & consistent on the ‘faster’ times that they’ve ran, they’d be pushing the 2:55 barrier. A good number of them have sub 44 splits that they can bring out in them but executing the right race is always the hard part especially with staying healthy through the season & creating the right plan to peak at the right time during the season

      Michael Norman with a 43.06 relay split PB was the letdown in this race running a 44.00 split. For the US 4x4 Team to get closer to that WR in the future, Norman needs to rediscover his 2019 43.45 400m PB form & Deadmon needs to replaced with Fred Kerley - a team of in-form Norman, Kerley, Benjamin & one of Randolph Ross or Michael Cherry is pretty much a Dream Team & should be pushing for that WR in front of a Home WC Eugene Crowd, just like the Dream Team of Sydney, Dalilah, Athing & one of Quanera/Shamier/Kendall!

      @@timmytheinventor4746 Wasn't talking about Kerley running in that 4x4 relay team in Tokyo given that he did relatively little 400m training since stepping down to do the 100/200m in 2021. I meant Kerley re Eugene '22 (as I literally wrote about) - assuming he does more 400m training & gets closer to his 2019 43.64 PB instead of the 44.60 he ran this year. However, that's going to be difficult if the 100/200m remains his focus for 2022 and his training reflects that.
      Shericka Jackson had the same issue - stepped down to do the 100/200m, so did relatively little 400m training but was still drafted into the JAM 4x4 team and did a solid job, but would have run a slightly quicker split if she'd only done the 400m all year.

He is faster in 400 meter, but the Norwegian has perfected his run after going over the hurdle. He is faster in 400 meter open so it’s the jump over the hurdle that slows him down. He is taller longer legs and faster. Just adjust your run after the hurdle. Use the hurdle as your push moving forward. In my mind looking from his perspective, he shouldn’t look at the hurdle as a hurdle, but as something that makes him climb over only to go faster after the climb. I also want you to take into account the factors that have changed in 30 years like better shoes, better running tracks , greater sole technology

    • @Elliottklassen
      @Elliottklassen 2 роки тому

      The organizers did not “admit” anything. The producers of the track surface (Mondo), made an empty claim that athletes can run 1-2 percent faster. There was no real data to back up this claim, and it makes sense from a marketing perspective to make an embellished claim like that. If the track was 2% faster like you say, Steven Gardiner would have ran 44.74 to win the men’s 400m. That’s absurd. Andre De Grasse would have won the 200m in 20.02, which doesn’t make any sense whatsoever considering how fast all the other finalists in that are. Handle Parchment would have won the 110mH in 13.31, which doesn’t any sense, as he was running 13.0 and 13.1 all season, and Olympics aren’t won with 13.3 efforts.
      I’ve seen many people try to use this false statistic of 2% faster tracks as a way to discredit the most impressive performances from these Olympics, especially this race. Another important thing to note is that Karsten’s shoes in this race were very standard. He wasn’t wearing some magical shoes like some people like to believe. If you’re going to use a statistic for how effective a certain technology is, don’t use one from the manufacturer of that technology. That applies for both the shoes and the tracks.

    She already blazed a 12.65 in the 100mH...also still has an age group WR in that having done like 13.47 at 14.

      Athletes simply don’t run this event as frequently today as they did back then. You won’t find someone running this event more than 10 times in a season now, while Moses averaged over 12 races per season back then. In the end it doesn’t really matter, unless you think anybody would have beaten Warholm this season had he decided to run more. Whether he raced 12 or 5 times doesn’t really matter, since nobody was going to beat him anyways. An unbeaten season is an unbeaten season. And of course there is more to all time greatness than the number of consecutive wins you had.

    • @Elliottklassen
      @Elliottklassen 2 роки тому +2

      They do not have springs in their shoes though. If you’re talking about the vapourfly’s, those were banned by World Athletics for competition (because they were deemed to be a spring, which is not allowed). Additionally, even if they weren’t banned, Karsten Warholm is sponsored by Puma and was wearing completely standard shoes. Furthermore, even if you consider hurdles a jumping event (which it absolutely is not, especially for the low 36” 400m hurdles), that wouldn’t explain why we haven’t seen similar results in long jump, triple jump, high jump, or 110mH.
      Just because you can’t believe an incredible performance doesn’t mean it’s not legitimate. Rather than trying to discredit a phenomenal moment in sporting history, why don’t you appreciate that you were able to be around to witness such a beamonesque moment?
