Watching these kinds of videos reminds me of the time I was going through the Twin Cities when I noticed a car coming up on my right. Well, their front driver's side tire was out a head of him a little bit but they both were holding a solid 70 mph.
When I worked at the Ford dealership, it always amazed me how people never take care of their car. I am still driving my 96 subaru legacy wagon, which was my dads daily driver for 22 years, and it was given to me as my high school car. And he bought a brand new Toyota camry. He under coated it every year, and it was treated like a princess maintenance wise. I just kept the same maintenance and undercoating schedule he did, and the thing refuses to die. 563,850 miles in the clock. If something is taken care of, it will last for a long time. Yes, it has the head gasket done 5 times so far. That's what kills older subarus. People let the head gasket go too far, and the engine blows, and they junk the car.
I'd bet the 2jz's cam bolt wasn't tight enough, and that when it was working it's way loose, it caused leverage to be applied to the cam, splitting the bolt hole when it finally failed.
The Jeep was probably a repaint. I bought a used Explorer that was previously hit in the nose. The work seemed well done but many years later, the repainted sections shed the clear like this Jeep is doing.
Some tones of red, green and blue can start to shed their clearcoat due to staying outside and basking too much on the sun. Infrared and UV will cook up the paint below the clearcoat and that will degrade it. Can also happen to black if the clearcoat is of bad quality.
Yep that's where the windsheild washer fluid goes. These videos always show the brakes and tires that are ignored, that is what's on the road with us. The one with the clearcoat failure is because that person never washes their car, finally did, you can tell because it was wet. Get every bit off, lightly sand and apply new clearcoat or just get every bit off and get one of those polymer type of hard shell coatings you just wipe on. Good luck with that.
@@scooter1748 That is true, and may not be the case here, but road salts and acid rains will take it's toll if you never wash your car. This neighbor bought this little car brand new years ago, has never ever washed it or vacuum or cleaned in any way. It is a '06 I think. I wish you could see it.
2:32 I remember that our 2nd gen Skoda Fabia (2007~2014) had a sensor inside either side of the Brake pads, that're supposed to warn that they are worn out. Although I don't remember how we missed it, but when we were going to replace the brakes (disc & pads), we noticed that a significant amount of the sensor itself was grinded away.
The clear coat thing is what happens whenever somebody just tries to respray clear coat on a contaminated surface I've seen it before and it usually comes off when it's raining water gets underneath the clear coat layer between the original paint and the clear coat and just starts peeling off
@@sjv6598 I work for Royal Mail in the UK, our vans are red, ever since they started using water based paints the vans have all peeled like that, they peel off under the jetwash!
Clear coat peeling has been happening for the last 50years, you'd think they would of found a solution to the problem by now, or maybe they just don't give a damn...

I bought new tires that swelled like that 2 days after buying them tire shop was closed over the weekend. Went back on Monday just for them to closed their doors permanently
Not the first jeep I’ve seen clear coat peel off of lol. Honestly just buff the clear off and give it a good wax after. It’ll look good as long as the paint isn’t faded.
My wife and I borrowed 2 furniture trucks recently to move house. When we stopped to refuel with diesel, she called me over and said its not working. turns out she took the cap off the radiator header/overflow tank and had begun to fill that up with diesel.
oohh, that poor mini with the timing chain slap . and changing one is an adventure. have to do mine every 35k due to the turbo and the plastic guides for the year I have being sub par
is it even possible to change the chain without removing the engine? I'd be hard pressed to know any other vehicle besides supersports cars havign an engine bay so crammed up like a (not a)MINI's. every time I opened one of these huge hoods (compared to what Renault superimposes on everyone as of late) I felt the urge to grab a big tall band saw and remove everything until I can see the engine. (having size11 hands surely doesn't help, either...)
The timing chains on the non-turbocharged N12 engines are shit too. I was sorta lucky to total mine because the timing chain was pretty bad. I loved that car but it sounded like a rattly diesel
3:24 the same Skoda Fabia had a similar issue. Though I suspected that it was 'cause of the tree sap from the tree that it was standing under. (or rather, the branches that extends over the car)
2:39 ah the classic N14 engine. I had a non-turbocharged N12 for a bit and even that car had timing chain issues. I now have a Mini with the N16 engine and so far so good. It's just everything else that needs to be replaced💀

@Marc Lytle i got to hear some of the conversation she really believed that she was suppose to use anitfreeze in her washer fluid tank. it took 2 advisors close to an hr to get her to understand why she couldnt use antifreeze.
@@michaelmartin7375 gotta hold it to her, antifreeze does sound like what is needed. of course it is hard to tell the differences to someone who has no understanding of mechanical things, and much harder to explain why it is called like this, and not like that. in german language we divide between windscreen antifreeze and coolant antifreeze usually. but that is not written in stone, and I can't blame Joe Average to use the wrong stuff really. At least from my experience from when I was screwing with cars at the autoshop was that most would ask what they should put in first (but still not read the manual), or just come to the autoshop and pay an euro or more extra.
I knew someone with a Ford escape. Wanted me to see if I could tell why the rear end drifted all over the place. I take a look and see the shock tower tore away around the shock. A good 10 inch squarish section, just kinda tore itself away. At the time,I'd never seen anything like it.
Customer states the battery keeps dying... Im a amatuer radio operator like him and Ive learned that even when the radios are OFF, they draw power (learned that the hard way)
all a cop car is, is a regular model with a slightly bigger engine, a better alternator, and generally a larger than suggested battery(or multiple batteries) to run the computers, radar gun, and other BS they got in there. Sad for the coppers, they usually pay about 10k for about 3k worth of upgrades on the final price. Good to know where all your tax dollars go lol.
That's funny. Ford has a kit to repair rotted out rear strut tower on Ford Escapes. Bolt in some metal and fiberglass over it. I think this customer is on to something
At too high a rev, it can spin faster than the parts it moves, add compressed cylinder and it impacts. Usually brakes something else apart and those pieces chew up the shaft.

Makes me wonder if that 2j with the messed up cam pulley is one guy who makes videos and forgot to turn the digital torque wrench on. He torqued the shit out of the bolt before he realized the torque wrench was off. He was like oh well should be good enough.

Lots of people put in a new/used engine when it starts knocking because the bearings send the Forbidden Glitter (metal shavings) everywhere in the oil system and it's a huge PITA to remove all of it.
The very first video clip, I am sure engine oil shouldn't be that blue liquid colour. unless they was draining windshield washer fluid which I am sure it wouldn't come from that part of the vehicle..... Been a while since I took Automotive back in High School.
For the love of God.. can we PLEASE go back to MANDATORY driver's classes and training in high school? And an IQ test to prove they are smarter than a grapefruit? A monkey and a screwdriver is smarter than many of the car owners in these videos!

Chrysler's paint is notorious for decades of bad factory paint that peeled off in sheets. Happened to my grand Cherokee.

I've not seen it with red much, but a pretty common issue with hunter green Jeeps...especially on the hood of those with a 4.0L under the hood.

What I’ve learned from Mechanical Nightmare - expect the unexpected.
Some late 2000's Honda also had bad paint and/or clearcoat problems.
The last one is just opportunity knocking.

Never seen a Chrysler that didn't shed it's clear coat off, father had 2 Horizons ('79&87) that did that, the '87 Voyager and my '99 Cherokee.
