This is wild! I'm currently researching various motion bits, including g-seat, geko, and dbox, and this video came up. Very impressive build and you even talk about some of the things that I've been suspicious about with gs-5 & gs-cobra
This is absolutely amazing bro what a great idea I have never seen anything like this and can see how it works well for to give you the right feelings of pressure on the body. Big love from this side of the pond, I still remember my first go on your last rig when we visited you guys for the big meet up at TWHQ Now I have a sim rig on order so I can play too but im going to share this awesome video to the FB page im on.
Thanks! You could try but I'm convinced it would suck. Your body does not move linearly with the gseat. Its a bag of squshy goo with muscles that fire at different times depending on many things. I dont think your head would be moving perfectly with the gforce. Motion compensation would likely make you sick. I do use it very carefully with a moving rig though and it's very important.
Thanks! There are 4 motors on the back and one in the seat base, another pulling all 4 belts during braking, and well a whole lot more to come! Build thread in the description.
I love the seat, but I cant help but hate on VR as (as you state) it really can ruin the immersion when your head moves and may well glitch through closed cockpit sills and stuff. Additionally, VR leaves you unable to interact with button boxes and busy steering wheel buttons when driving complex cars, which is an immediate putoff for me. I have a rift S which i raced in VR about 5 times in before i bought a curved 32 inch monitor which is placed immediately above my wheel base
Thank you for the kind words. I hear you. Funny how hotly vr/monitors are debated. Can't say much for the button box but when I'm done with this gseat and chassis motion I'm going to tackle a g helmet that will really up the immersion. With my method you will be able to use either vr or monitors!
Try putting your headset into 3 dof mode. Youll still have all rotational movement but no linear, so your head will stay in the same spot. I reckon youll have a better experience
About the false cues from head movement, would it be an option/possible to remove in software the VR-gogles movement in X/Y direction, keeping Z/tilt/sviwel/yaw/etc. movement?
I'm sure it's possible but I think it would lead to motion sickness, or at least a lesser quality solution. You essentially get this by turning off room tracking with an inside out tracking headset like the g2.
The backlash varies. I've found some companies products to be tight and some to be loose af. Specs are in the build thread. Even with backlash I don't notice any loss of detail, just a rattling noise when driving in the grass. Remember this is fairly high pressure, its never "loose". EDIT: ballscrews are better if you can get away with them imho.
I’ve built a similar seat. Your bass pucks are definitely something I’ll be looking into. Great work. What servo motors are you using? I’m using hitec motors and they keep burning out. A parts list would be fantastic. Thanks! FYI, when you’re braking the seat should move away from you, and your belts should tension.
Thanks! The exciters I use are Dayton Audio DAEX32EP-4 and they blew my mind. Do you have a link showing your seat? Would love to see it. I forgot to mention in the video I have a servo pulling all 4 belts tight during breaking. Super important compliment to the gseat. Servos are a mix of 60st-m01930 and 80st-m04025. Also I've seen your comments in all the videos I watch all the way back to the early days of force dynamics IIRC. Interests must be aligned haha.
@@chrisfischer511 mine is a complete POS compared to this LOL. I've actually taken apart a GS4 seat and applied your concept to a seat I built myself working on the angles of paddles which I think all gseats get wrong. The more I watch your video the more amazed I am. Astounding really. I'd love to get a detailed build sheet so I could give it a go. Thanks for sharing, this was crazy inspiring.
@@Gorilla_JonesThanks man, there is more to come! Check out my build thread in the description for lots of good info. I'd still like to see what you're doing, I might learn something!
Amazing work, I feel this is beyond what I could DIY. The crash looked savage!
Thanks! Yeah it was great. I would say it was on par with indoor karting, bumping your friends just hard enough not to get kicked out. Haha
I'm REALLY liking the narration!
This looks SOOOO FUN!!!!
Thanks, it took freaking forever to do that narration. Hopefully next time will be smoother.

Torso mover looks fricken awesome. Exciting seeing it all come together!
Just wait till you drive it! I might convince you to start racing pretend racecars!
Looks amazing, i love the idea! Hope to See more in future 😄👍
Thank you! Stay tuned, there is a whole lot more coming.
This is absolutely amazing bro

Thanks man, hopefully you make it back over and can experience where this is all headed. Its getting nuts!
@@chrisfischer511 my mind is boggling with how you thought of that and control it. Top class bro.
love that crash reaction!!!
I'm pretty sure this was my first crash with the torso mover. I couldn't believe what just happened. I was so surprised, haha
Awesome work!
Thanks man!
This is awesome!!
Thanks for the kind words!
Dude... that lambo crash had me feeling giddy! Can't wait to see where this project ends up!
Come drive it!
Amazing, great inspiration with this simple design. Thanks.
Thanks man!
Absolutely fantastic work man!! Wondering if motion compensation would stop your head drifting to the inside of the corner? 🤔

WOW!! I want that system!! Looks brilliant!! So you use 4 motors? How strong are they? Do you have a building blog or something?
Thanks! There are 4 motors on the back and one in the seat base, another pulling all 4 belts during braking, and well a whole lot more to come! Build thread in the description.
Brutal! 😳
Chasing the real thing

Imagine having that hit you without knowing it was coming. Haha I was blown away.

The lack of translation makes me motion sick and breaks immersion. Solving it mechanically was a much higher quality solution for me.

Wow kind of like a professional f1 sim then
whats the backlash like in the gearboxes. (which spec ratio are they?) What stops me a bit would be any loss of detail coming from ballscrews

Sure, the forums listed in the description I check daily. Also email:cfischer.engr at gmail
Very small foot print with a lot of different motion going on.
This is so cool! I wanna try
You need insurance for crashes like that
IKR??
I don't think both sides are very good for the rallies ..you need to change the rib design
Not following you. Can you explain what you mean in more detail?
