Born early 60"s in Mangere and commuting across the old Mangere Bridge on motorcycles thru the late 70"s to work in Onehunga.
Seeing the old 1920's film of motorcycles running over the Mangere bridge was mind blowing!

These are really evocative. I grew up in Auckland from the early 1950s , and I recall the city as it was pre motorway when Grafton Gully was still pristine bush, and when the ferries were the only way to get to the North Shore. The vehicular ferry was near where the Flying Boat port was and we saw them often while waiting to board for Devonport or Northcote . Super work.

Kia ora! I was born in Freemans Bay and remember the logs being stored in Fanshawe St, going to kindergarten at Canpbells, and the bridge being built. When I was at Auckland Grammar School the bottom field was taken for the motorway. I recently returned - and got lost!

..my house in Church St, was built in 1920. Born in Newton, but eventually settled in Onehunga. Still a gully boy in spirit.

Which gives me a marvellous idea to restore the past to its former glory, the Past Restorer.
