Cheers Bob , 25oz super tough denim can definitely take a beating, got little blow out in the crotch, both knees, the cuffs are beat but they have held up well . 👍
The EXACT type of video I was looking for 🤝 I just picked up this exact pair yesterday and will be giving them their initial soak today. Can't wait to start breaking them in 💪
nice fade, but I think activities done in them matter more to get such fade than the length of wearing, I only have 3 heavy weight raw selvedge, I wear them often, when I do I wear them all day for couple of months (2-3 months) until I wash it and wear another pair, now around 5 years my 21oz jeans I bought in 2019 still looking new no blowouts, no holes, nothing happening on the hemline, just minor fading here and there, I think the most effective to clean denim in between washing is vacuum cleaning, just vaccum it once a week along the creases, and along the seams to suck all the debris and mold spore or anything collected during wear.
Stunning work! 🔥 These are truly a work of art. You must have had so much patience too👏🏼. I have a pair of Nudie Maze Selvedge - I don’t wear them every day prob once a week, does that mean I have to wait x7 as long before wash? (they bleed a lot, ruined a white hoodie 😭) Great advice - so 5 mins cold soak inside out and then wash on 30 degrees but what if you don’t have a setting without spin or can’t switch it off? I’m the video I saw yours going around in the drum is that not spin. Or is spin a drying cycle. Sorry for the questions, just paranoid as already spilt toothpaste on these and was painstaking to remove (due to bleaching agent etc) so being v cautious now! Any help much appreciated
Thanks a lot that pair made the Top 16 in indigo invitational Y3 fade competition , and P4 with a public vote but never made the Top 10 where a panel of judges decide.. In regards to washing you know when it’s time when they smell a little funky and think I don’t fancy wearing them lol.. Turn them inside out and soak either in a bowl or in your bath for 30mins cold or warm water. Remove and place into the machine 30c No spin cycle, it’s going to spin slowly while in the wash the NO spin is in relation to the end of the wash to remove the water from the drum when it takes off at like 100mph 😆 that’s what messes them up . If your machine doesn’t have an option to turn it off don’t risk it… maybe look at the manual if it can be done. Otherwise hand wash in the Bath with a bit of detergent. 👍
@@luvthefades Ah man you must be so proud, that’s great recognition, even without the judging. Will you enter again? Thanks for the reply on this, really appreciate the advice. Ah ok yup it’s my gf machine so don’t know it that well is the issue. I’ll ask her what she says about the spin cycle. We always do 30 degree 15 min “super quick” on everything minus bed linen and towels and clothes come out wet so don’t think a spin is involved. So, if it doesn’t say spin on that read out or have a spin icon on the setting (which it does on both fronts on other settings as just checked) then I take it that one is fine? If not hand washing is fine to do anyway.
Would you recommend for a thrifted pair of raw denim jeans , to just throw in the washing machine cold water & little detergent & as you said skip the spin cycle and then go to the extra rinse to get rid of any excess ???
Thanks appreciate it 👊 No your good to go with the 21oz Sanforized and one-washed - little to no shrinkage to be expected.. 👍 Such a great pair of jeans so comfortable and look amazing with plenty of wear..
hey man good vid. ive got a pair of UHR's that I feel I need to give a hot soak because theyve stretched a good bit and my initial soak and agitation was too cold. ive been wearing about 3 months now. do you think its a bad idea to hot soak at this point (will fades be less high contrast later/will the fade and crease shifting be really bad)? should i just suck it up and wear a belt? would appreciate your thoughts on it, thanks man.
Hey Mate , I would do the Hot Soak and then Machine wash remove all shrinkage. You should expect about 1inch in the length and roughly the Same in the waist. Do you know if you had any shrinkage when you did your initial soak ? I would then put them on damp and set those original creases back in.. I shouldn’t think they should shift. I wore my XHSib for 6 months then did the machine wash 🤦🏻♂️ and didn’t notice any shift but noticed the 1inch in the length.
Hi! Lovely pair :) A little late to the party but have been going back and forth over giving my Naked and Famous Elephant 12's (20 oz) an initial soak before wearing. They are sanforized, but not sure if they are also washed or not. Would probably do a cold/lukewarm soak to get rid of starch but not too worried about shrinkage. What are your thoughts?
Hi Yeh if you’re not sure if they have been one-washed then could give them a hot/warm initial soak with a bit of addition to remove any remaining shrinkage 👍
What denim, congratulations. I wanted to ask you about something I didn't understand in the video: does the water used in the basin have to be hot or boiling? Also, how long do you keep them in the basin? Thanks
Thanks for your comment 👍 there Iron Heart 555XHS 25oz Soaked in cold water for about 5 mins just so there completely soaked through before putting them in the washing machine 👍
Hi yes that’s the purpose of the hot initial soak to remove any remaining shrinkage, so when everything is set and you do your first wash nothing moves 👍 thanks for your comment appreciate it..
You need to do a Hot/warm initial soak to remove any shrinkage before wearing. Regarding washing try and hold off as long as you can. You will know when it’s time they just feel grimy and not nice to put on in the morning then it’s time for a wash.. 👍
G'day mate great video im just getting into this raw denim fade game myself just with your prosess with washing your jeans whats the logic behind the fact you soak the jeans before putting them in the wash I get the fact you turn them inside out but soaking them before washing what dose that do would love to know or is it a personal thing thanks mate .
I own a pair of 777 14 Oz at 280 days of wear. They are pretty heavy denim at 14Oz. Compared to my other pants A.P.C., Nudie, Shockoe etc, they seem to wear at some creases, like I see in your jeans. And these are pretty light denim compared to 25 Oz. I was always wanting to try out a super heavy pair but that makes me think about it. However, beautiful fade on yours. You use them as fasion or is this your daily workwear?
Hi Bob , Iron Heart 25oz is such a great Denim it’s takes some breaking in for sure but soon as you get past that initial break In period you won’t look back super comfortable . It’s definitely my favourite IH denim if you have patience and can withstand being uncomfortable for 2 weeks or so I would definitely go for it. It’s a big leap up from 14oz I’ve never tried 14oz the lightest pair I own is IH-55519L and there beastie . My XHS I wore pretty much every day for Y3 indigo invitational fade competition so in work and leisure 👍
Hi Mate, do you think I’d be able to get similar results with a pair of Levi’s 502 none Selvedge indigo jeans if I followed your method? Or does it have to be Selvedge?
Hi Mate To be honest don’t know anything about Levi’s .. but washing should be roughly the same process. Without following this process with Iron heart denim when putting them in the washing machine they would be prone to Marbling , streaks in the denim etc..
Cheers appreciate your comment 👍 Not really soon as you do the initial soak they shrink a inch in length and a bit on the waist, I put them on damp just before they dry completely and walk around the house that sets all the creases so that’s the length they stay at . Then I take them off and hang to completely dry..
Shrinking but not overshrinking makes me want to try incrementally increasing the heat on each wash. But at the same time I don't want to wash it four times unnecessarily haha. First pair of selvedge, been wearing them 9 months with no washes. Nervous I'm going to waste a whole year haha. Thanks for the feedback! @@luvthefades
