- Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs' Weekly Update.
TRANSCRIPT:
"It’s Friday! Time for another weekly update.
School Mania is today at Chilhowee Park from 3-6 p.m. Please stop by with your kids in Knox County Schools to pick up a complementary school supply bag. Many thanks to all of our sponsors, including Shoney’s, Second Harvest, and The Dream Center.
Next week, the first week of school, I’ll be welcoming students and opening car doors for them at various schools around the county so keep an eye out and please say hello.
The Olympics' closing ceremony is this Sunday night. Congratulations to all the athletes with connections to east Tennessee who competed. If you’re in the mood for a unique olfactory experience, check out the titan arum flower at the University of Tennessee’s Hesler Biology Building. Commonly called a corpse flower, this is the first time the plant has bloomed in the 22 years it’s been at the university.
When it’s in bloom, the flower emits a smell akin to rotting animal flesh. Hence the name corpse flower or, as UT has nicknamed its specimen: Rotty Top. So, that right, you can get a whiff of Rotty Top right here on good ole Rocky Top.
Insert awkward transition here…
This week’s Eat & Greet was at Amber Restaurant in Halls. Next week, I’ll be at Casa Don Gallo in Rocky Hill at 11:30 a.m. Please join me.
Until next Friday, I hope everyone has a great week."

@Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs Do you or your family own stocks in any COVID treatment companies, like your mentor Rand Paul's family did while he told people not to get vaccinated?
