Demons are depicted to be more stronger and faster than humans, so since you are not fighting demons at long distance like 1 mile, and you are not a professional assassin to have a lot of precision, a shotgun is the common sense choose. And one more thing, I played all the Doom games and watched all Supernatural and trust me, both of them gets to a point where the shotgun is the least used weapon overall. That battle-hardened stone-cold exterior with a trustworthy brotherly interior is my absolute favourite character type. Someone who's powerful and commanding, yet never boastful and is always calm and cunning. Someone unsuspecting, never loud, no dramatic shouty bravado, but you know if you cross them, it's gonna be your loss, that is if you make it out alive. Add the conviction of religion, giving them that sense of higher purpose. And the firepower of a gun. Joshua Graham... Father Garcia... These are the kinds of people who would convince me to become religious, and we need more characters like them.

I remember hearing that theres a big difference between how sport shooters and military personnel aim down sights. Essentially sportsman will use one eye as its better for guaranteeing that the shot is on point. I remember hearing that theres a big difference between how sport shooters and military personnel aim down sights. Essentially sportsman will use one eye as its better for guaranteeing that the shot is on point. Meanwhile people in the military (with exceptions ofc) aim with both eyes as to have wider fov and see more of whats happening around them.

Another reason that most military shooters keep both eyes open is because the adrenaline and fear response make it almost first nature to keep both eyes open. That's where the brain is trying to up your field of view to get as much information as it can to survive. It makes it a distractible chore to try and close one eye to aim.
