Tarikh Episode 43
In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil narrates the story of Jatindranath Mukherjee. Also known as Bagha Jatin, he was born in Kaya village in Kushtia district of present day Bangladesh, in 1879. Jatin kindled the flame of revolution against British rule. Jatin was part of Jugantar party and lead bengal revolutionary movement during those days. After the mutiny of Ghadar party in 1915 in north India, jatin moved to Orissa and contacted the German Pro India League for an Arms deal. The British captured the German ships carrying the arms and the plan failed. Jatin died in Balasore hospital on 10 September 1915 after getting badly wounded in a gun battle with British policemen. @@apurbabanerjee4313 what will I achieve by remembering those who wronged the nation in the past. There are more good examples for me to learn from my ancestors than bad ones.
More important for me is the current situation and what we are doing to address the issues. Learning from our brave predecessors would only help me to fight harder with the extremist forces.
Unfortunately, ppl do not learn from their mistakes and keep pretending that they are fair for all.. while other keep taking advantage of the situation.

Wonderful presentation of Indian revolutionaries. Being a bengali I never knew about Bagha Jatin. Hope to see such video on other freedom fighters like Binoy Badal Dinesh (BBD). Stories of these freedom fighter should be in school text books so that this generation knows about their sacrifices and heroism.

@@monodeep1 The terrible repression Manindra-dadu had to suffer in all lucidity and self-control deserved a special distinction from the Government of Independent India. He had a further merit.In the early 1960s, in his ripe old age, Manindra-dadu filled three note-books with his reminiscences of Jatindranath's stay at Mohuldiha: an unknown chapter which helped me a great deal in writing my SADHAK BIPLABI JATINDRANATH, before I added it to the Jatin Mukherjee Papers at Nehru Museum, New Delhi. Have you kept any memorial of Jatin Mukherjee's stay at Mohuldiha ?

Bagha Jatin was born in Kayagram of Kushtia district. His father's name is Umeshchandra Mukherjee and mother's name is Sharatshashi. He spent his childhood in his parental home in Jhenaidah district. His father died when he was 5 years old. Along with his mother and elder sister Vinodbala, he moved to his maternal grandfather's house in Kayagram. Jatin was famous for his physical strength since childhood. He was named Bagha Jatin as he was able to single-handedly kill a tiger with just a dagger.

Bagha Jatin follow Sri Aurobindo. Bagha Jatin's son Tejen Mukherjee went to Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry with family and be Disciple of Sri Aurobindo. Tejenda's son Prithvindra Mukherjee is also disciple of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother and now he is in Paris. Prithvin-da is also awarded by Padma Shri by Government of India. 😊
