Donations: ko-fi.com/sanyamatma 🙏 What type of cotton thread to use? 'Six strand cotton embroidery thread'. I use industrial sized cones, but it is usually sold in 8m length bundles. You’ll need: About 6-8m for the knots and about 3m for the tassel. Buy at least 2x 8m bundles. If you want a multi coloured tassel, buy 1x bundle for the knots and 3x for the tassel. It's best to buy a more expensive brand as good quality thread is more forgiving, it will slip better without breaking when making knots and ultimately it will last longer and keep it’s colour. To my knowledge ‘six strand cotton embroidery thread’ is roughly the same thickness regardless of the brand. Good brands include: DMC, Madeira, Anchor etc. The thread ‘bundles’ look like the ones on this link. www.dmc.com/us/six-strand-embroidery-floss-489-colors-available-9003292.html#null

an absolutely wonderful video id recommend to anyone, i’ve made two malas with this technique and they are both very high quality and stunning. the knots are very strong and easy to learn. thank you for this resource!!
I used this video to make my first mala. I chose a thread that ended up making the task far more difficult. Next time I’ll know better! It took me a while to get the knots down but it eventually became very easy with practice. Your instructions were the most helpful that I could find and helped me create a mala that I am very happy with. Thank you! 🙏🏻
Thank you very much. I enjoyed watching the video, it is the first I clicked on and won't click on any other. Can't wait to start working on my mala and will get back to you once I have gone through the entire process. Blessings
I bow to your beading & knotting excellence, you are the Master! I've discovered that I possess 2 left hands and many thumbs...LOL! I switched to "slow-motion and you're still too fast for me! I am however determined to move from wire wrapping and into knotting. I've watched many videos, all different and your's is "the best", it just requires patience to learn the technique, you make it look so simple! So when I get a loose knot or have tied it wrong...and have to "unknot" it, I remind myself that you have 20 years of experience, that I must crawl before I can walk and then run. Blessings to you Master and many thanks for sharing this video. I have learned a new serenity...if I'm stressed...my hands hold that tension and if I try to "force it", it doesn't work.

I ran out of thread part way through, despite using 8 metres of thread, doubled. Maybe my beads were slightly bigger than what you used. I didn’t know what to do, but then I added more thread by looping it through the loop. This meant that I had two separate strands at both ends of my mala. Fortunately I was able to individually thread the two new ends through the Sumeru bead, and my mala is now complete. Very happy with it. I loved the Brahmagranti knots.
I have watched many videos about how to make mala/ rudraksha mala. Among all videos, this video is the best ( best technique and best way of explanation and explanation in a very simple way ). Lot of thanks for bringing this video.
Thanks so much for the video. All the mala tying videos I was finding was more for just jewelry so it was lacking knots that I could use for meditation during the making. Nice clear video and instruction, too. Thank you!

Thank you, I used this tutorial to make a 108+1 mala out of some nepali rudraksha I had lying around, and some thicker red nylon yarn. The first time I did it, the knots were loose, the amount of yarn I set out was too short, and i was really angry because it was difficult. Thanks for your feedback . . . most people find mala making challenging and frustrating at first. You'll get better and better each time, then gradually mala making will become (fairly) effortless and the focus can switch mantra, breath and the smooth repetitive process. I had gotten big wooden beads in excitement and used to just thread them in one go. The thread would fray/break every couple months. First thing I noticed with knots was that the mala felt so light in hands despite the size of beads. I'm sure the thread will last longer too. Once again thank you so much :)
