- After the 32-year-old teacher survived a three week disappearance in New York that she had no memory of, she vanished again in the U.S. Virgin Islands 9 years later - and never came home.
After going through many years of erased memory, I was diagnosed. it's real and scary as hell, it's because of early childhood trauma and subsequent traumas as an adult that trigger it in my case, It's heart wrenching because you have no recollection of huge chunks of your life. This is no joke and no laughing matter. May it never snare you in its grip. It's a by product of PTSD.

After my 2 children died I lost YEARS of memories. I don't have this disease Hannah has but I have horrible trauma and from that I have extreme memory loss. It's crazy. I have to ask my family to help me remember stuff. It sucks.
@@Witchygirl22, I am so sorry for your loss, how horrible it is to lose 2 children, I'm so sad for you. Hugs and prayers for you... You have the same symptoms, you might want to check with a therapist to rule it our, besides, therapy really helps, it's so underrated.

I know this young woman, her brother and am close friends with her mother from way before this happened. Hannah is full of life and a wonder to know. Barbara has been stalwart in her faith about findung Hannah though of course there are struggles. I pray and wish the best for all of them
Tbh, it’s very rare for me to ever meet or hear of people with the same issue which is why I just choose to quietly live it. Mine is not as severe as hers is described to be thankfully but I do definitely believe that the circumstances assumed about her disappearance aren’t at all far fetched. Mine can last a few seconds to a few days- usually when it lasts a few days- I’m drifting in and out of a present mind- never a full day consistently in that state. I do know who I am but I feel so detached from my life that it’s almost uncomfortable for me to consider the things around me that remind me of who I am- I force myself to do it because I don’t like being in that state- it makes me panic and gets my vision blurry but I do understand why Hannah would avoid things that remind her of her true identity because I have to force myself NOT to do that when I get into that state. To picture the feeling- it’s like awkward, uncomfortable feeling you get going over to someone’s house for the first time and al of their family is there- at first you feel a sense of not belonging- that’s what it’s like for me- like I shouldn’t be where I am, like I am an alien to things around me.

Family looking at photo albums would point out a picture of a girl and say, oh look, who's that? Mmm mm... cousin so&so? Nou, it's you silly! I have lost one full day and have placed pictures of myself all over the house because I sometimes wake up and wonder who's house I'm in. Many times even that doesn't work because I don't recognize myself in the picture. It's true, it's all true and i know no one with experiences like mine, even though I have been tu numerous psyc hospitals. It's funny when I'm there the other patients ask gazillion questions about "multiple personalities", it feels more like a memory problem to me, i always thought I had dementia. @@biaanibeu4471 wow I can relate entirely and I never knew what to call it before now. I have huge portions of my childhood and early adult life just missing or sometimes a vision will come back and I can't tell if it was a memory coming back or a lucid dream so I have a hard time deciphering a past memory as being real. It's scary and yes I've had many, many traumas in life but much better now that I'm an adult and run my own life.

During Hurricane Katrina my husbands grandma (who suffered from Dementia) left Florida and got on a greyhound to New Orleans. Nobody knows why. Maybe it was all the news coverage. But she was missing for over a day before the people at Greyhound called us to let us know she fell on the bus. I believe Hurricanes and other major events like that can trigger people with mental illnesses

So sad and rather strange. But isn't it possible to give her a tracking device if she is found again? Or microchip? I know it sounds a bit inhuman, but if it means your daughter can find her family and herself again - it could be an answer that her family goes to her.
Sad deal. Feel sorry for the mother. Only hope she didn't have another episode and was swept out to sea or something.

Found face down in the New York Bay.....alive. Think about that. They just happened to pull her out of the water after she had passed out in the bay but before she drowned. Then she disappears into the sea. She might be a mermaid.

Well, the #DissociativeFugue 'expert' who tried to explain her behaviour after the event, claims her logging in to her Google email account (at an Apple store) and attending her gym using her name is unconscious second nature behaviour.
Which is obviously BS. I often have to use 'Forgot Password?' and I certainly don't #sleepwalk to the gym. She was using the gym to shower.
Dissociative mental disorders are real, but this is clearly a case of deliberately choosing to dissociate. She'd also joined a #Freeganism movement, which further suggests an #ExistentialCrisis.

I have so many more questions. What did she act like at the service station and gym? Was she working out or wandering around? Was she dirty or clean? Where did she get money/food?

How sad. You would hope people that have this would tell at least one person that's around them so at least someone is looking out for them. But then again that would be unfair to have to expose your medical condition. I pray she's okay.
I don’t understand after her diagnosis and it happened twice in the past and they knew it could happen again, when she moved to the Virgin Islands, why didn’t she let anyone know (close friends/her boss). And especially the time of year it happens. Especially with a hurricane going on. If the director of the Montessori had known, especially the time of year, another hurricane coming, when Hannah seemed different , it would have been a red flag. I hope she’s alive and I hope she’s found.

After hurricane Irma's, many affected people from the antilles were sent to Puerto Rico's refugees as disaster victims. Maybe she's in the big Island or maybe she doesn't want to be found.
so wait, while she was gone for 3 weeks, where did she stay? Where did she eat? Did she work? Where did she get money? No one saw her as a homeless?
Maybe she just got lost because she was looking for her uncle Tommy who was lost in the woods and then maybe like sometimes you find the elves or maybe sometimes the Bigfoot monster and when you find the Bigfoot monster that is when you will sometimes not be found anymore.

Jesus was it a stretch of this girls family and friends minds to make her wear location beacon bracelet after her first two "disappearances "? Alot of resources looking for her could have been saved and she would probably be alive right now. Totally irresponsible.

*This is the type of person that shouldn't be traveling and have back ups notes and reminders that she's suffering from Schizophrenia if she cant remember who she is, plus what happen to background checks in the U.S. Virgin Island, no parent would want a teacher suffering from Schizophrenia anywhere around their kids.*
schizophrenics are far less likely to commit a crime than be a victim of one.

LOL. I don’t think she has this ‘dissociative fugue’. I think that 10 years ago she simply got really high and that’s how she ended up in the harbour. The more recent time I think she just was sick and tired of having to be ‘professional’ and perfect all the time and it made her crack and possibly fake her disappearance.

She disappears on her on for whatever reason ( I believe attention and it's a game to her to see if she can out smart everyone) she had better stop playing because one of these times could be the real deal and nobody will look because she can't be taken serious. They should have arrested her the second time she did this, put her in jail and made her pay a fine for all the hours police were investigating her fake disappearance
I know this family personally and can assure you this is no joke. I knew Hannah. She was warm and funny. I am very close with her mother. She remains devastated almost beyond repair. They were very close.
