Rurik was a Viking, or Varangian, prince. According to the chronicles, the people of Novgorod, tired of political strife, invited the Varangians about AD 862 to establish an orderly and just government there. Hence, Rurik came with his two brothers and a large retinue (druzhina) and became ruler of the city and region of Novgorod.
Rurik, also spelled Rorik or Hrorekr, Russian Ryurik, the semilegendary founder of the Rurik dynasty of Kievan Rus.

By the way on the place where Rurik has arrived in Russia stands a monument, which was put in 1862 exactly after 1000 years of Rurik’s calling (862). The monument is called "Millennium of Russia" and is located in Novgorod.
That's because Novgorod is where the origin of Russia starts, thereby making Rurik, the founding father of Russia.

Hey Thanks for your kind words. I appreciate that very much. Danheim is, let's say, like a father of this style of music. I personally have always been inspired by his works, but I don't try to copy him because I don't think we need another Danheim, or a copy of him. I always seek to give something different while maintaining the identity of this musical genre. I try to mix cinematic music with the incredible Scandinavian rhythms. I just let the imagination do its work 🙏

As early as Oleg, Rurikids swore by Perun and Veles, never instituted Danelaw-like laws, and were denoted as foreigners in the totality of the Germanic Sagas. Do not confuse the Varangians with the Rurikids.

1. The Varangians, based on archaeological findings of the "Black Grave" worshiped Odin and Thor, whereas the Rurikids swore exclusively by Perun and Veles.
2. In the Rus-Roman treaties, the Rurikids and Varangians are denoted as separate groups, we see the exact same phenomenon in most of the Primary Chronicle, and as stated above, in the Germanic sagas.
3. The Varangians were traders, slavers, and swords-for-hire, whereas the Rurikids were, without a single exception, warriors and rulers, and refused to partake in "crafts", whereas crafts were the lifeline of the Varangian society.
4. On page 63 in the Primary Chronicle (Laurentian Text), it is outright stated that the Rus and the Slavs are one people and that the Varangians are foreign to both, and in some manner, were responsible for the transformation of the original ethnonym of the Rus to its aforementioned form: "But the Slavs and the Russes are one people, for it is because of the Varangians that the latter became known as Rus', though originally they were Slavs."
5. The only similarity between Russkaya Pravda and "Germanic custom law" is that Germanic custom law" shares some features with Slavic custom law, but that is not the proof you seek, just evidence of "organic" similarity of "custom law" among Indo-European-speakers north of the Danube.
6. Gleb Sviatoslavich's DNA was tested, came out positive for I2a1b-Din, had one-digit Germanic DNA, and was predominately Slavic, with recent Mediterranean admixture from his mother Kilikiya, who was a Roman princess. He's the paternal grandson of Yaroslav the Wise, and his results alone refute the Normanist theory beyond doubt. Stop LARPing, you're not Germanic, and never will be.

The Annals of Bertiniani is the earliest Document that contains the earliest mention of the Rhos and it dierctly tells us that they were Swedes not Slavs. And the Rus Ambassadors who have Norse Names in the Treaty are introducing themselves as Rus: we are from the Rus Tribe Karli Ingigeld......You are clearly Lying at this Point. The Rus Term comes from Ruotsi the finnish Term for Swedes wich comes from Rodsmann(like the finnish term Luotsi wich comes from Lodsmann. And it wasnt spoken Rus by the East Slavs. They said Rousi. Perun and Veles are repeatedly stated in all of the Rus-Roman peace treaties as early as Oleg and as late as Vladimir, the Romans had knowledge of Germanic deities, and they would not confuse them for Slavic ones, and the latter was the only deities worshiped by the Rurikids, and when you find even a single reference of Rurikids worshiping Germanic gods, then, and only then will your argument have merit. The Norse names in the Rus-Roman treaties are that of Varangian traders, to whom the treaty pertains, the Rurikids and their Druzhina were merely there to ratify the treaty by swearing to Perun and Veles, not Odin and Thor, and were, yet again, differentiated from the Varangians on the basis of being Rurikids.
2. Rurik is not even a Norse name, the name's origin is Old East Slavic, and is, just like the names Oleg and Igor, absent from the Germanic sagas and Old Norse naming traditions, claiming that the names are originally Old Norse in origin just because there are Old Norse equivalents of the said names is nothing more but grasping at straws, and based on your own, desperate reasoning, then we're free to theorize that the Norse names "Valdamar" and "Burislev" aren't borrowed from Slavic naming traditions and are originally Old Norse.
3. You have no grasp of the socioeconomic history of feudal, and even tribal nobility, both groups were adamantly opposed to practicing crafts, and the Rurikids were certainly both tribal, and later, feudal nobility, this is why they hired Varangians as middlemen to perform that duty for them. Regarding slavery, the Slavic tribes on the Volga were traditionally raiding each other and selling the prisoners of war into slavery (the profits were that of the tribe, not the individuals), matter of fact, the Poles did the same to the Wends through the Radanites, and the Wends to the Poles and the Germans, and the Czechs sold the prisoners of war of both groups to the Muslim Caliphates, whether directly, or through Radanite intermediaries (again). The Rurikids did control the trade routes to Constantinople, but there is no proof that they were partaking in the crafts of trade and slavery, but there is ample proof of them solely and immediately partaking in warfare, hunting, and rule, which are traditional parts of the lifestyle of the tribal and feudal nobility. And the majority of slaves on the Volga route weren't even Slavs, but Finns, hunted down primarily by the Novgorodians for centuries. The idea that tribes and states hostile to one another would pay heed to share pan-ethnicity, and therefore not sell the prisoners of war into slavery is 19th-century nationalist dogma and is ahistorical, keep your cynicism and intellectual dishonesty to a bare minimum.

The first historian to establish the parallel between the Varangians and Rus was Muller, the author of the Normanist theory, historians who preceded Muller and Schlozer had identified the Rurikids as a Slavic dynasty, repeatedly so. Only the Legend of the Arrival states that the Rus and the Varangians are one and the same, and that isn't even a historical, but ahistorical part of the Primary Chronicle, it's, as the name states, a legend, and the Normanists, either out of desperation or stupidity, treat it as a historical event. This is not my interpretation of what is written in the Primary Chronicle, it is what's literally written in the Primary Chronicle on page 63, it outright denotes the Rurikids and the Rus as Slavs, and as one people with Slavs, whereas it denotes the Varangians as foreigners, a theme present in the Rus-Roman Treaties, and the Germanic sagas as well, a fact that Normanists repeatedly refuse to address. The difference between this chapter of the Primary Chronicle and the Legend of the Arrival is that the former is a historical and genealogical chapter, whereas the latter is a legend and a historical recollection of events, therefore infinitely superior to determining the origin of the Rurikids/Rus. The Annals you speak of refer to random Swedes from the alleged Rus Khaganate, a state that no one can prove that it had existed, let alone prove that they were related to the Rurikids, not even the Rurikids were aware of the existence of this alleged state. Andrey Zaliznyak, like all other Normanists and liberashkas, will naturally further the Normanist interpretation, after all, nepotism and disingenuousness are the foundations of Normanism.
5. You did not point out anything, you just stated that they're similar, without even pointing out the necessary similarities, if you can even name them, that is. Ibn-Khurradadhbih, also explicitly mention the Rus to be 'one of the Slavic peoples, and he predates Rustah, The whole mantra that Rurikids were Norsemen starts with the Normanist theories in the 18th century, furthered by 'Romanovs' (not the original line of the Romanovs to boot) and Gerhard Friedrich Muller and was opposed by most sane-minded members of the Russian intelligentsia, even by paternal Rurikids themselves (like Vasily Nikitich Tatishchev). Even if everything above wasn't true, the fact that actual Rurikids were opposed to the Normanist theory speaks volumes of the inaccuracy of that theory. Furthermore, an immediate example appears in the retelling of the events of 905, when the twelve warbands of the Rus are assembled by Oleg, only one Warband is Scandinavian, and they are Variag/Varangian, and they are clearly stated as separate from the grouping and notion of the Rus, who are all those twelve warbands, others being the Slavs and the rest two Finno-Ugrian tribes. Yet again, this theme where the Rus and grouped with the Slavs, and the Varangians are treated as an entity separate from both, is almost omnipresent in primary sources, ignoring this is one of the pillars of the Normanist theory, and a repeated theme in your arguments, and is rather ironic since you accuse me of omitting and lying while spreading lies and omitting facts at the same time. Get some self-awareness.
