My family is 98% pure Scandanavian. My great grandpa told me something when I was very young. He looked right in my eyes and said, "Your last name does not belong to you. That man was a WWII veteran who landed on Omaha beach as a medic without a weapon. He ran through MG-42 machine gun fire to drag the wounded to safety. He was hit 6 times but continued to run back into harms way to save others. He saved over 12 men that day. He was awarded 3 purple hearts, 2 bronze stars for bravery, and a silver star for valor.
Maybe its just my family or how I was taught and raised but I can think of no greater reward than hearing that roar of approval from my ancestors.

I have Scandinavian DNA, one part of my ancestry begins there. I am a nobody from nowhere, wandering the planet, trying to find where I fit in. I listen to this music and see my ancestors calling me home, that they forgive me for any imagined weaknesses. This music takes me away from the now, and into a different realm. I'm Christian, but every time I listen to these types of songs I want to be welcomed into my ancestors arms in Valhalla once I perish. Sounds dark, but that's how I am.

I'm trying to come to terms with the whole afterlife thing. Because ny philosophy is what you believe in is where you'll go. Like if you're Christian then you'll go to heaven, Pagan to Valhalla, Buddhists get enlightenment or reincarnation and all that. But maybe heaven is just all these places smashed into one and even if you didn't technically believe in god himself and believe what you want to believe as long as you aren't some evil horrible person you can go there.
