This videos are amazing. I’ve been watching lots of Japanese and other master shoe makers, but it’s nice to see a mortal explain everything properly, and make some mistakes as well.
Thank you very much for sharing. I am about to try to make my first pair of shoes and I have watched countless other videos on shoe making, but you make it so much more simpler and your tips are so helpful 😀
Yes!!! Please keep the series going. Your series has been, hands down, the most informative veey easy to understand for newbies like me. Yours is the best-detailed presentation on the topic that I've seen online. Subscribing.
@@AndrewReesonLeather Oh I still have a long way to go before I know enough to build my first pair. You're videos have been very informative and helo me gain the understanding I need to make a pair. I currently struggling with understanding the sewing equipment needed to make a pair of sneakers. Specifically, how to get a pair of rubber soles attached to the shoe upper and how to attach an insole.
Really enjoying your videos Andrew they are helping me tremendously with understanding what is involved in making shoes. I am just starting to do leatherwork Thanks Steve
Excellent series so far. But you shouldn't skive of the top grain, always the flesh side of leather. The top grain is ~90% of the strength of the leather.
You have a few options: Overlock, Overlock and fold over once, Fold over twice, Bind, fully line each piece and flip inside out. They're all techniques that you'll find on your clothing
Sir, it would be great if you could list down all tools and material that will be required to this pair of shoe. Also, if anyone else could help me with that.

Beautiful work! I'm learning so much. If these were canvas shoes, how would you finish the edges?
