Am I out of touch? I think these are best value Gibson has offered in decades, thanks to the pickup push-pull options and heel carve. And those finishes, oh my heck, so beautiful!
I like this version of the Studio. It's not as plain as its predecessor, and I think people are going to like having the BB Pro pups as opposed the the 490R 498T pup set, which is not a bad set, but perhaps it's time for a change. Yes, $1599 USD is steep for a Studio, but there's no way Gibson USA would price it lower than the new, high priced Epiphones. I think that if the price of the Epiphone would get back down to where they belong (IMO), Gibby could offer these at a lower price. Just my two cents.
@@bonzo20122Gibson likes to trick people with their marketing. Burstbuckers are marketed as a “classic rock” sounding pickup, but they aren’t - they are much brighter. The “classic rock” sound is darker and more defined. You can’t go wrong with the ‘57 classics, the 490/490, 490/498, or even the 496/500 combo. If they are too hot, just lower the pickups until you get the right clarity.
Epiphone Les Paul Modern is about 1000 less, or if you want something similar but unique, Reverend Roundhouse, I recommend the RA version as the Railhammer Hyper-vintage pickups are amazing.
I got my Epi Modern in perfect condition, used, with the Epi hard case for $500, and it was great. Then I took it to a quality shop and had a fret level and setup done, and now it sounds and plays amazing. I own Gibsons as well, but the price of these studios doesn't equate for me.
I can show you picture in my country on a local shop's wall a brand new 2023 satin finish, thin body, dot inlay, burstbucker with no cover les paul studio for 1500 euro. Compared to that the new model for 1800 is an upgrade. :)

The Eastman equivalent is even more expensive and made in CHINA. I read this comment section and wonder if I’m freaking hallucinating. Anyways I just got mine in wine red and the build quality is great, the finish is fantastic, it’s lighter than my strat, and it’s got a bound neck. The only binding that matters when playing. And it’s not anything too dear so when I hand wire the electronics I want and throw a bigsby and a new bridge on this thing I won’t be trashing something of value, I’ll just be improving a well built guitar. Anyways, it’s great, the price is great for the era we’re in, and a lot of people need to get their panties out of a twist.
I got a blueberry burst one last week and I agree with you. It’s an incredible guitar and the price is right. I also got an Eastman SB59, which was more expensive. It is really nice and I might keep both. But if I send one back, it will be the Eastman. The Gibson is a keeper!
I have one, I mounted a Gibson 57" pickup on the neck and a SD 59' on the bridge and it is the guitar I have the least attachment to, however I have a very affordable Epi LP 50' well adjusted and with some Paf mojotone and it is the guitar that my hands always go to when I want an LP.... which Ihas taught that the most expensive is not always the best for one
It really attracts me a lot specs and price but the only doubt is that, with 300 euros extra i can buy a 2nd hand standard....i really think about a new guitar but...used lp standard or this one?
The neck binding is a good touch. Rather the body unbound than the neck with trapezoids unbound. That being said I've used a Dremel on a fair number of Epiphones to safely sand down the edge finish to give a better binding look. I'm sure this would be easier than the 335s I've done. Boom. Instant "binding" 😂
