hello mate, yes the original duty of the fusiliers was to guard and protect the artillery, the musket was replaced with the fusil" ,hence the name...it was safer apparently around the powder (?) as it had a slow match rather than a flintlock fire mechanism..the role of protecting the guns was lost but the title fusilier was retained, and was and is an honor title....regards, marty
@windsorsoldiers Welcome back,,,,We all missed you. You've captured the hearts of many here in Gettysburg , Pa U.S.A. And you've premiered this with our beloved Marching Constable who somehow is always in step . It must have been cold by the sound of horns. Why no guards at the gate ?
@argo84 the tune is " the british grenadiers".........this version with printed lyrics was from about 1750 ,but its origins were older than that....the lyrics were..."some talk of alexander and some of hercules..of hector and lysander and such great names as these..but of all the worlds great heroes theres none that can compare..with a tow row row row row row row to the british grenadiers!".....the fusilers traditionally use it because of their association with the royal artillery..marty
A couple of the drummers from the 2RRF have read some of the comments that we have made and naturally, they aren't too happy about it. Their comments can be seen on TVStix's video of the 2RRF Corps of Drums (Friday 26th March 2010). I think from now on we should all be a little more considerate and realise that these are young men, full of pride, who don't take well to criticism. Thank you all.
what did that woman say at 3.40..sonded ferral whatever it was...the boy asking grandpa are they are putting their drumsticks up their nose at the start was another laugh....
@MrDanmeyers It is definitely NOT the same constable as the one seen marching in quite a few videos back. I would appreciate it if you would stop assuming that every police officer seen escorting the guards is the same one.
Can anyone tell me the name of the tune they were playing at the start and as they entered and left Windsor Castle? I know its a British army classic, but I've never known the name. Many thanks!
Jeez, I felt sorry for the Old Guard marching back behind them. The Drum Major is all over the place, the Bugling was bloody awful...more akin to a poor Cadet Band, than professional soldiers. Drumming was okay. The 2nd RRF are undoubtedly brave in the field, but I would be taking this lot out and bashing them up and down the Square, until they got it right. Only then would I be taking them anywhere! Not a good advert.
makes you feel very very proud of our serving soldiers and they make great Britain great all over , you make us proud
I am a fusilier cadet and I done Tower of London as corps of drums and that's why fusiliers are the best at corps of drums
1st battalion royal regiment of fusiliers 💂🇬🇧

I like the thumbs up from the DM at the beginning.

At 2:30 the dog seems to be enjoying himself 😂
Nice to see someone different doing the Guard work. I guess the Fusiliers no longer have a band as in the old days. Pity.

+Armchair General The Great Escape is the name, very popular among corps of drums units
British grenadiers it is the regimental march of 2rrf. Well when they existed as they have been amalgamated into 1 battalion

I agree, almost cringey. Drum Major needs to work on his sense of rhythm!
