Why does Indian need HSR ? thankfully they only have one in the pipeline, it does not make economical sense. HSR in China running in total loss, Japan just about breaks even because of higher income level which translates into higher ticket prices and also cos it’s a small country with smaller routes. In large country taking flights makes more sense if you need to commute faster. India should concentrate on track upgradation so trains like Vance Bharat can run at their designed speed of close to 200 km/hr that is more than sufficient. With India’s cheap air ticket prices Air is the way for faster travel.

They have the economy to back it up. You can't compare like that idiot! Debt is from selling Treasury Bonds and many countries still buying U.S treasury bonds because of big interests the U.S government pays out. It is not debt like Laos that borrows money.

Developing nations have also been paying a higher price for climate change. McDaniel said it all just snowballed.
In the last three years, countries defaulted on their debt 18 times, according to the World Bank. That includes Zambia, Lebanon and Sri Lanka.
“When debt becomes a means to debt repayment rather than a means to economic growth and human flourishing, that’s when you see the problem,” she said.
Lots of debt also makes it hard to attract new financing, and we are in a time when underinvestment in developing nations has dire consequences, said Nancy Lee of the Center for Global Development.
“And they really aren’t able to pay the additional cost needed for climate resilience and climate adaptation,” she said.
