    I've had a Eureka moment this week while grading two commercials, when it comes to maximizing the dynamic range (especially in the highlights) without sacrificing the pop on the talent. I already knew about highlights and shadows sliders in the primary tab but it's really after pushing them on these projects that I really started seeing the power of it ! I also like to introduce, prior to my primaries node, a dedicated HL node with a luma qualifier whenever needed, and play with highlights slider (down) + highlights or specular HDR wheel up, to really do the push & pull and start getting more detail in the very bright highlights :D Also, I found out that when creating a grad in the sky to pull it down, the Light wheel in HDR works really nicely !

    Hey Qazi, have a question you may have answered already but here it is.
    I am grading C-Log Footage and want to use the Kodak 2383 LUT like you do in some of your tutorials. I go through the process of using CST to convert from Clog to Davinci Wide Gamut and then DWG to Cineon then apply the LUT after that CST. The greens and blues in my image are insanely saturated and looks way off. I can repair and balance by removing saturation in HDR or Curves but sometimes I just can’t get it to look correctly. Is there a reason why this could be occurring? Thank you in advance

    Do the HDR wheels in "CLIPS" read Color Space Transform nodes that are on that said clip's "GROUP"?

  • @BarranteMotion

    Appreciate these tutorials as we're in the early stages of migrating from Premiere to DaVinci. Sorry if this is slightly off topic, but part of integrating this into our workflow is going from ProRes RAW which is natively read in Premiere, to dealing with a transcoded ProRes 4444 file that I can begin coloring in DaVinci. Many of your tutorials recommend using the CST to kick off and ultimately end your grade. Is this still relevant after laundering the source so much, or would you approach another way? (on a Mac Studio using DR 18) Thanks!

    • @theqazman
      @theqazman  Рік тому +1

      as long as the clip stays in log, yes it is applicable.

    I have a strange question, I really hope you see this. I'm trying to recreate the look of a movie called Split Second from 1992. It's a Cyberpunk film. Whatever I try though it just looks like a crisp image that I'm trying to distort, as opposed to the way that film actually looked. Is it really just about me having to film it with one of those old cameras to match the exact look with proper lighting? Or can I do it in post?

  • @oskararndt5605
    @oskararndt5605 Рік тому

    Great content as always 😍.
    What I'm always wondering, if I set up my project to be in Davinci wide gamut/intermediate...
    I don't have to do the CST on every clip right? It's basically the same, whenever I tell Davinci what footage these clips where shot on by right clicking on the clips?
    Because you almost always use the node CST and not the project one. I'm just a bit confused. Because this seems more simple

    • @theqazman
      @theqazman  Рік тому
