🌟FLEET FRIDAY 🌟 FDNY RESERVE SQUAD 800

FDNY Reserve Squad 800 is a 2014 Seagrave Attacker. This is the only Reserve Squad Company in the FDNY, "Reserve meaning: Ready to go basically all equipment and tools are on the rig, unlike a spare that has no equipment. Reserve Squad 800 is used by one of the 8 Squads when they go for PMP (Preventative maintenance program) which each squad goes 2 times a year. Instead of switching all equipment off the rig into a spare they use Squad 800 for no more then 48 hours. If longer then 48 hours they will switch over everything onto a spare squad or spare engine company. When one of the 8 Squads use the rig they use there own SCBAs, Hand Tools, Hazmat Meters and may take off a few things off their front line that Squad 800 don't have. The Reason it can't be used more then 48 hours is because of the main purpose of the rig is for Emergency Deployment. All it needs is SCBAs, Radios, Hazmat Meters, Hand Tools & Staff. Emergency Deployment may be for Hurricanes, Major Snow Storms, Flooding, High Call Volume, Presidential Detail, Major Collapse, etc.
Rescue Deployment Center houses Reserve Squad 800, Reserve Rescue 6, 3 of the 6 High Axel Units, Rescue Logistics 2, Flatbed Support Truck, Swiftwater Support Pick Up Truck and a staff of 2-3 firefighters. These firefighters work daily maintaining all equipment for rescue operations on a constant ready state for deployments and major disasters. They receive inventory and distribute large orders of tools, equipment, rescue harness to all rescues and squads. They do logistics for Rebreather Drills and classes, Testing Zodaic Boat & Motors, Boat operator classes. Any Deployments for Hi Water Events, Large Snow Storms, Down Tree Taskforces, Major Collapses. Its a warehouse that keeps Deployment water suits, boots, boats, heaters, water, helmets, chainsaws, wood, axes, Halligans, Saws, Jaws, Torches, you name it they have it.
Squad 800 is kept locked so no one can get into the compartments. All equipment and tools are locked in a storage crate. There is 20 Reserve Engines & 10 Reserve Ladders that are kept around the city for the same purpose. But they are not used as much as usually when a engine or ladder is out of service for PMP the company goes on medicals. SOC can't strip Squad or Rescue coverage for medicals.
Before Squad 8 was established in 2018. Squad 800 used to be placed inservice more often. Covering Staten Island. Squad 800 was inservice two times after that for snow storms in Manhattan covering portion of manhattan to keep strain of calls off SQ18, SQ1 & SQ41
Squad 800 carries a minimum requirement of squad company equipment.
