The sad scene from the animation is actually a reference to Show Rodan 1956. The Rodan in the 60s is actually the hatchling of the two original Rodan who first laid siege to Japan in 1956. Rodan here is sad because he was orphaned by humans. That was his egg and those two other Rodan are his mother and father; killed in a volcanic blast.
