I will not look to smart here but we struggled with the little plastic piece. We were not sure what it did but assumed it was important. Instead it is just a tool to separate the cups (which we had already done). This video was great. Put everything in prospective. Thanks
I bought the cup phone for my wife's Colorado. Thanks for the video to show me how to use that plastic piece. The cup phone fits great in front of the center console. There is an advantage to have the adjustment not self-centered. The movement of the holder to the right keeps plenty of space between the phone holder and the gear shifter on the left. By the way, with a good phone case, the fit is perfect. My wife is very pleased at the form and function. We use the phone for Waze.

Thanks for explaining the kidney bean shaped holes in the bottom... I bought one second hand without the “tool” for instant pop apart action... paid $ 7.99.. and could only remove the largest outer cup. So my instinct that they would all come out like Russian Nesting Dolls.. was pretty accurate. Glad I found your review!

Yeah, the instructions were pretty poor. I thought the nubby thing went inside and there was a picture of what looked like a tabletop stand that did not come with it. I found this video wondering if I lost a piece amongst the gift wrapping. It turns out the stand was just the other car’s cup holder at an angle with the slit between the two looking like the clip. There is actually a Weather channel cup holder with a desktop stand which fed that fear I lost a piece or it was not included by accident. That’s why I dislike black and shite images. They say you see more detail, but I see less detail.

I love mine! They never expected so many orders for Christmas & I had to wait for mine to be made. I was offered my money back or if I wanted to wait for it to be made they waived the shipping fee. It Only took a week longer & I love it. I’m buying another one for our other car!

This is one of those inventions where you cant believe it hasnt existed till now. Ive needed this for the past 7 years. With the way my scion interior is designed, Im not able to do a window mount and fan mounts suck imo. Deff ordering one after clicking the comment button. Price is way to high though. They should bring it down a bit.
It could benefit from having a heavy weight in the smallest cup to help weigh it down and keep it in place when holding larger devices.

I like mine, although metal tightening hardware would be preferable to the plastic which seem to loosen or slip and require retightening at times. My Ford f250 dashboard seems to have no place to effectively mount a phone holder except the cup holder down near the floor, so I'm grateful for this. He didn't demonstrate the fact that the height is likewise adjustable - can be raised 3 or 4 inches.
Bought one for my Yukon. My iPhone has a case(synthetic rubber), and fills up the gap so no lateral movement. It works.
5 Below has them for just $5 despite having more expensive prices now. I considered returning because it makes you take eyes off the road in the liq position, but I do appreciate that it doesn't dirty up windshield like other holders that they sell. The design rivals this because 1 button quick release and the bottom part has a spine that gets bigger or smaller as you turn the dial.

Just add some foam weather stripping to fill in the slack and good to go. Update just got my holder yesterday and with iPhone 10 silicon case the phone is sturdy and snug when tapping screen, no adaptations need to holder. 👍

I asked for it for Christmas, because it was made in the US, but if I finish a call in the phone, I know it will end up on the passenger side seat, because I won’t be half-focused trying to put it back in its slip while driving. I think a vent clip would have been better. I could see the GPS function at eye level and would not be banging my hand into the extender.
I think some folks mileage may vary, but the one that I received felt like the cups had been superglued together. I had to find a small flathead screwdriver and work it gently around that separation hole to get them to finally pull apart. Literally took me 30 minutes to get all of the cups apart without breaking or cracking. Why they don't put a small separator in between the cups to keep them from bonding together makes no sense. It should not take 30 minutes to install a phone cup holder lol, thanks for the video.

My husband got one today. He loves it so far. However, if you don’t have a strong hand grip, it is difficult to turn it to the position to place on that little turning piece. I found it hard to get that piece situated to the hole. Also, it took a lot of pressure to push down as needed to get the outer cup removed.
I have one. For what it does at its price point it's overpriced. However, it does what it's supposed to. It's WeatherTech so it's sturdy. My real complaint with the product is it cant support horizontal phone placement.
Got mine as a Christmas gift 12/25/2020, I have an iPhone 8 Plus with the extended battery case, fits nice and snug, great video as well, good explanation for taking the cups apart

Actually a good design for iPhone by having access to charge cable routed through the bottom of the phone, Subaru Outback phone slot doesn’t allow charge cable from bottom and iPhone 10 doesn’t fully rotate 180 deg when charge cord is at top, like using maps on iPhone better than Subaru nav
Just received the ☕️ ☎️ holder and it is a decent quality design. iPhone 10 with Apple brand silicone case works fine. No need to add anything to the holder as the iPhone fits snug and feels sturdy doesn’t wobble around when tapping screen.. Angles well enough for simple at a glance viewing of phone from Subaru Outback cup holder location.
It is pricey and like an idiot I purchased the silver billet screws. The cup holder I use for my Tahoe does not fit snug and the phone just waddles around in the cupholder. I will see how it fits in my Tundra, but if its lose I'm sending it back along with the silver screws. I can find a nice phone holder on Amazon!

I gave this a B plus, however the first hour of using for ride share made me anxious not being able to see the GPS art without taking my eyes off of the road. In other words, the line of vision to cup holder is too low.
My first thought against buying it ... however I figure with my DoorDashing I can get used to it being of the windshield...my old phone would over heat up there from the sun ..
Don't waste your money! Adapted a $ store "ashtray" to hold my phone a few years ago... And its a great coin holder. Total cost - $4!
I bought one of the cheaper foreign brands and it was a waste of money. It did not fit the cup holder so it flopped all over and no way to adjust it. This one does everything it says it will do. I agree that it would be nice if it rotated for sideways viewing. I will buy that version when they update it.

Just got mine for Christmas. Mine can be extended by loosening up the bottom adjustment knob and pulling the holder upwards away from the base. It extends 3.5 inches

Nice set up but iPhone 7 Plus in an Otterbox case won’t fit in the holder. If it opened wider, yes then it would fit.

This item is dangerous, cause your constantly looking down rather your eyes on the road. Traditional cell phone mount is safer.
Why is Weather Tech pushing this product so hard on TV ads when they have seemingly much more lucrative product in the form of their floor mats?
I ordered the cup phone. It was virtually impossible to separate the cups. The little tool didn't work. Being a senior, I did not have the strength to pop them apart. They seemed frozen together. I finally used a screwdriver to separate them.

I really like this thing, one huge flaw to me though. No ability to rotate 90* for sideways viewing.
Dang, I was about ready to order one. Expensive phone mount without the ability to rotate is totally unacceptable.
Good way to keep the phone in place or to rest on. But definitely not safe to use phone as GPS. Looking down at phone and then glancing up and then glancing down. Other than that, overall great product!

Kevin, you are stronger than the average man. My cups held like grim death. I needed both hands and a strong wooden benchtop.
This is an inherently unsafe design without the proper extension to set the height of the phone such that eye glances are still near parallel with the roadway line of sight and for less than 2 seconds. I am surprised weathertech brought this to market.
They offer a version with the extension arm as well already.
The funny part. It doesn’t fit in a jeep Cherokee tightly. One cup too small. The other too big. So each time you pull out your phone it all comes out.
So I simply just wedge my phone in my cup holder and said F it.
Looks cheap for a weather tech product.it should have a depth adjustment for phones with out a case.And let's say you did have a phone case.would it even fit because cases come in a variety of thicknesses.😕

I bought this because it looked stout but, honestly, when I got it and held it in my hands, I thought ‘What kind of caveman designed/engineered this thing?’. It’s the most ham-fisted phone mount I could ever imagine.

I'm sitting here bouncing around the cab of our F-250 on the longest stretch of bad road in North America ( SC I-85 S ) as my wife drives, and I see her phone wedged in my empty styrofoam coffee cup thinking $40 is pretty expensive.

Put a few Velcro dots on the back plane to take up the slack. Still easy to put in and take out. I needed the smallest cup for my Smart car and added the velcro around the outside cause it was a tad too small. I love this device.
Received my cupfone but find it hard to remove the cups. For someone who does not have the strength in hands it is a challenge.

These are not good makes you look down and take your eyes off the road. I like the ones that are up higher on top of the dash board by window.

Save your Money!! Bought a much better goose neck, self adjusting phone holder off Ebay for 12 bucks including shipping and works great! Everything WeatherTech is WAYYYYYYYY over priced...had the floor mats and they warp and twist over time.

I'll be the consummate pessimist everyone loves to hate by saying no...probably not. Every time I get suckered into buying a phone holder it never works the way I had hoped. None of these gizmos seem to like phone cases so I stopped trying them.
