  • David discusses the decisions we have to make in life and the advice given in Proverbs relates to making wise choices in the large and small aspects of everyday life. David says, wisdom is what’s best for you, not what’s profitable. It’s based on knowledge of God, not knowledge of the world. Proverbs deals with subjects such as laziness, the company you keep, being faithful, relating to neighbours, even taking out loans. Being a good wife is also discussed, though the book as a whole is addressed to a young man from his father. There are over 70 proverbs on what a fool is like and they seem to describe some modern people. Another key subject is the tongue and the danger it can be. Relationships, family and otherwise, are discussed. Proverbs shows how to be a good friend. David says that the Bible view is that we are basically bad and can do good things in contrast to the humanist view that we are basically good and can do bad things. Unfortunately, the Israelis did not follow the wisdom of King Solomon and Israel spiraled downwards. David points out that the word ‘wisdom’ goes right through the New Testament and Proverbs is frequently quoted. ‘Christ has become for us wisdom from God.’
    David also has a book on this series find out more here: www.davidpawson.co.uk/search/...

    David a real example of a true student of God’s word of truth. If only more Leaders would take the time
    to learn about the Bible through David it would transform the Church.

    The foolish words we will be judged for are like ’there is no god’, ’jesus was not god’, ’jesus did not ascend from the grave’ etc

    22:35 man is born without knowledge and skills. he has to be taught everything right or he will be bound to go wrong. so are people as they grow-they need to grow in learning. one has to be taught how to do the right thing-like driving a car if he has to drive. he needs to be taught the godly way of life if he has to live an abundant and productive life god created him to be.

    21:56 children are born innocent. jesus said heaven is made for such as them. god created man in his image and likeness-the freedom to choose but without his level of omniscience, wisdom and power. man can therefore make the wrong choice (be deceived and take the road of blame rather than of penitence for example). but our loving father knows all these and already had the solution from the foundation of the world- jesus - our redeemer and master.

    21:59 I cannot agree with this statement that children are born bad. My convictions for the most part are children are good. If we're talking all before 5 yrs old, you don't have to teach them to be honest, or to forgive, they're humble in asking for help or to learn about something, they are pure of heart and have no perverse or malicious intent. They love lots and just want to be loved. And with every year that passes, they take in more from the world around them. And eventually they become aware of right and wrong and intentionally choose wrong despite their conscious prompting them otherwise. And that right about there is where I'm wondering if they cross that line and lose innocence (for lack of better words) in God's sight.
    But Jesus said, (Matthew 18:3-4) "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."
    Aside from that I'm a huge Pawson fan and grateful God has allowed me to learn from such a servant in His kingdom.

      @@SunilFrancisGeorge would not this make Jesus a sinner too (The Lamb without blemish)? He was born of a human mother.

      @@ededdison8965 Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit through Mary's willing cooperation and hence Christ was not subject to Adam's sin or to its effects. He inherited the character of His father. We on the other hand are born with the sinful nature of Adam. Jesus inherited genetic material from Mary (to be fully human, i.e., descendant of Adam to become the Last Adam) but not from Joseph, therefore, original sin must pass through the father to the offspring. This allows Jesus to avoid original sin.

      Quite frankly, David Pawson is on the dot. I have 5 children myself and I couldn’t agree more with him. I never had to teach my kids “bad things” only the good ones, it feels almost like they were already born knowing “bad things”, things like saying “no”, hitting their siblings, throwing toys, talking back, etc.

    • @ededdison8965
      @ededdison8965 4 роки тому

      @@fernandad.thompson5165 it may "feel" like they know bad. Children however do not have a fully developed conscience when born nor do they perform those "bad" actions at such an early age with evil intent. That's the difference between young children and adults. Children are the greatest in the kingdom according to Jesus.
