The beauty of the Rhodes is it's simplicity. You sit and play and enjoy. You concentrate on the music because you know the sound is exactly as it's meant to be. No need to tweak & test & tweak some more to try and get it to sound as close as possible to the sound of an iconic instrument because it already is that iconic instrument. Just because we live in a digital world doesn't mean we have like it. 🤣 But I do love your videos always👍👍
Your Mk II is set up specifically to have less quack in the bass - the tine is spaced further from the pickup. All Rhodes from the Legend sound as if there's an amp model in there. I hear a bit of breakup. Are you sure it's "direct?" In fact I can see the "amp" button is lit up
Nick, for the under $1000 category, I'm looking for a live performance keyboard with a believable Rhodes patch, along with a good piano and ideally a Solina string patch. I've narrowed it down to the Yamaha CK61 and Roland Juno DS61. Do you remember which one has the more realistic Rhodes sound? Do either have release samples? I love that sound from a real Rhodes.
@@cbvb ooh that’s a good question. One of the keyboard I reviewed in that batch did, but only one. I remember mentioning it in the video but I don’t recall which one I’m afraid.
Love the concept and sound features. But, would be interested to know the companies track record and reliability. Been wanting to test drive one in California but unfortunately couldn’t find dealer support. Love your presentation’s. 🎧
Great vid. I just got a yamaha ck88 and I thought the rhodes sound was s bit dull but its a good match for your rhodes. Now Im happy. The legend is brighter. Could it be an age thing. You mentioned in hammond video that they get duller as they age is it the same with the rhodes?
I have a Rhodes, Viscount Artist-W and CK-88. The CK88 is absolutely fantastic and you should not regret it at all. Obviously there is a much wider epiano range with the Viscount and the onboard effects are fantastic. The CK88 CFX default piano is super nice compared to the Viscount Acoustic Piano voices. You made a great choice (and saved quite a bit along the way!).
It would have been more interesting to adjust the legend via software to the original. You can edit how close the mic and how hard the fork sounds.......i think it´s possible to make it sound quite close to the original.
This comparison is not true. Why do you have the low end on the master eq cranked up? The mid is above unity and the high is below unity. Flatten the eq out on the Viscount, and redo this video. You’ll hear a huge difference in authenticity.
The Legend is more than fine enough for stage but digital just can’t replicate the nuances that the real electro mechanical pianos have. There just isn’t anything like the real thing.
Yo cant beat the Original rodhes but the other in my opinión is more versátile and practícal for the Studio records. The legend has more high end and the original Rodhes has that low end. Sorry my English
Yes, it's pretty noticable but I guess it could be rectified with some EQ. It also sounded like Legend volume was cranked up so it contibuted to the difference.

I no longer have the board to compare I’m afraid

@@cbvb the Yamaha I reckon
@@nickfoleyuk thanks Nick! Love your vids. BTW do you remember if the Yamaha has a key off/release sample on the Rhodes patch?

@@nickfoleyuk No worries. Thanks for your swift responses and incredibly helpful vids.

Have you done a review/musical assessment of Nantucket Sleigh ride?
Obviously you can’t beat the original, but the Legend is pretty nice….😊

das Mitteband am Legend ist meiner Meinung nach falsch eingestellt. Ich habe eine Legend und es klingt sehr gut.
It's The Fender Rhodes Hands Down
..But in All Fairness I Will Say The Legends a Nice Piece of Gear.
Great job Nick but how about wooly bully watch it now 😮
Both have great sounds. Both were made for certain music and certain era. Musical instruments are infinite.

Rhodes wins so far
Hi
Rhodes is the winner 🙂
No se parece en nada, yo vendi este año mi mark 2 y me arrepiento, es el que mejor suena para. el legend no suena bonito
