The pale light that shines in a kingdom of darkness could be just another deadly lure...
After a debut album showing the will to re-ignite the flame of a sophisticated and emphatic approach of extreme metal, yet still deeply rooted in the second wave of Scandinavian BM, DEATHCODE SOCIETY are back with “Unlightenment”, a merciless dive into the aphotic zone, as the cover artwork by Kjell Age Melland shows.
Epic and eerie, the seven songs explore the depth of the human mind through a restless and tempestuous music melting together a brutal metal instrumentation with orchestral arrangements, choirs, synths and concrete samples.
With lyrics bathed in dark surrealism - two of them being rendering of poems by Andrew Joron and René Daumal - “Unlightenment” is a musical journey through the Other Side and this gloomy maze where psychosis, murderous urges and mystical obsessions endlessly wander.

While there was obviously some edit line for this album, this live performed song has not any single post prod trick on it and you'll hear that when you play with your heart and work hard, you don't need so many studio tricks.

@@ARdeathcodesociety Well, it might be not quantized, cause the Dude can obviously playing like this, but the Drums sounds too much "unhuman"/digital, they needed more true dynamics or just Dirt or somewhat more non-generic.
But it's still good Music.
I just prefere a more diverse mix, when it comes to metal.
Oh, yes, and that is a matter of taste, so won't argue on that. But quantification is another matter and it sounded right to adress the claim. @@tol.M_ngo
@@tol.M_ngo I get your point! There are so many layers, it’s very hard to give each instrument the best spot possible. Live conditions generally allow more space to acoustic drums, but the other members are not necessarily happy with that 😅
