Finally! Been waiting for the co-op playthrough of this game. Anyway, game looks just as gorgeous as their Toki remake, but I'll miss the hand drawn animation from the Toki remake. The Flash-like animation for this isn't too bad, but IMO lost some of the charm. Still looks fun regardless.
I prefer the original arcade graphics and sounds. Aesthetically it was more pleasing and had more character. Although the graphics here are naturally smoother and less pixelated, the character design all around was also far better in the original arcade. I would've preferred a proper arcade-quality "Caveman Ninja 2" with the original style graphics, but with brand new bosses and stages (and maybe even a couple of new caveman to choose from).
Couldn't agree more. I don't want to be dismissive of all the work that must have gone into this, and I can understand why young people might want a high-res version of the game. I really hope a lot of people enjoy this. I do like the widescreen, which works better for the game. But as a lover of pixellated graphics, I thought the original graphics were just fine as they were, and these new designs aren't a patch on the original. The colours of foreground characters are too soft, the characters lack personality, and lack strong outlines and definition. And as for the smooth animation, I find it highly inappropriate for a cartoon adventure.
Oh by the way, you said you would've preferred a proper arcade-quality "Caveman Ninja 2". In case you're not aware, the SNES conversion of this game (Joe & Mac) is excellent. It's generally highly faithful to the arcade, but with more levels, slightly more polished graphics, and an even better soundtrack than the original. It's a joy to play and I think it beats the arcade original. AND there's a sequel: Joe & Mac 2! I think this is exactly what you're looking for. Well worth checking out!
He has the correct hair on the Steam page images. cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1492320/ss_8b40b373970f304f90fee110ad9108a2ceee8137.1920x1080.jpg?t=1669941089 There has been an update which has the complete extend mode, but the hair hasn't been fixed so far.
This is a nice remake, and clearly a lot of effort has gone into it, which I appreciate. However, I don't think this beats the original game. I'm not keen on the softer colors, the main sprites lack definition, and I don't like the new character designs. It's all kind of beautiful and feminine, but lacks the punch of the original. (The cave girls still look hot though!) I actually prefer the art style of the "map screen" to the main game (1:00:08). Also not a fan of this smooth animation, which I find inappropriate for this cartoon style game. On the plus side, this is clearly an extended version of the game with lots of gameplay, good production all-round, including nice audio. It's also very welcome to have this game in widescreen. I just don't think all this was necessary and you could have taken the original graphics and just added a little more color depth, made it widescreen, and you're done.
Note: Since this video, the game has been updated and the missing stages have been added to Extend Mode.
WOW, this remake has always been a bit of a mystery to me ever since JonTron mentioned about it as an upcoming remake

Joe and Mac no longer compete whom to receive the smooch of victory? The character who doesn't recive the kiss is still happy? Man, that's a shame.
I have a lot more practice to do to get through this.
Therefore, It's been through ages since I played the classic one.
I'm not really a fan of remakes but it looks interesting.
The new version of joe and mac caveman ninja game is more harder than the snes one for sure
Mac got Joe’s haircut
The Steam page still shows gameplay screenshots with the correct hair for Mac, even though there hasn't been an update to fix it.
@@arronmunroeMan, talk about false advertisement.
The 1-ups must have been added later also (as there should be one 1-up per stage).
Holy crap Looks beautiful although im not fan of the dot eyes
Mac is still the same as joe, not like before

Серёжа:а не кажется
Это было раньше?
Hey arronmunroe, can you do a play through of Jurassic park arcade 2015 with 2 players please?
It's still not playable on TeknoParrot.
The end stage music and Mac's character design still need to be fixed. Get on them about it! Enough people will be heard.
graphics kinda look like shovelware
