I think they are trying different things, my senior year of marching season my director had most of side 2 blocked off amd the band mainly performed on side 1
I marched mello with the Corp, since judges can’t go on the field, most corps are going to the judges, that’s why the pit is all on side 1, so the horn line can get close and personal with the judges, crown did the same thing, bd did with the trumpet feature
Crown’s beaut of a ballad took place on side 1, as did the small ensemble in the opener, and the pit was situated actually on the field, so not just empty space!
mark woods yea there is. My friend who marches Boston told me that a quad player got injured and is out for this season. They have an another quad player learning his spot.

80% of Crown’s show is also on side 2 though

Is it just me or is there a hole where the quads are at 4:44 because I don't think a drum corps would have 3 quad spots filled for the season
