My 2006 Taco refuses to give up.All the fireman I work with have newer Gladiators, f150’s, silverados, ect, yet my 2006 mountain goat just works. I love that its analog enough that it still feels like a truck. Its the one vehicle ill keep until is seizes or rusts in half.
I would absolutely love to see a prerunner build. It would also kind of fix the dents in the bed if you were to buy bedsides. Overall it’s a sick little truck. My friend has a little single cab and it’s fun to drive.

Ditch the wheels/tires. Put it on 35s with lighter wheels Fix the body damage as much as you can. Make a cool bumper for the back and some sliders and you’ll be able to sell that thing for 15k
Ultimately up to you in the end what you want to do with it. I think it would be cool to see you do a SAS build with it. I understand though making a profit is always nice and if you go that route I dont't think anyone will be dissapointed. Love the videos, keep it up!
SAS and flat bed - rock crawler style. Fix the front end to look nice but make it capable of clearing 37's. You might actually still make money on it cause that would be a killer truck. I miss my first gen.

E locker rear end is solid. My old 98 had over 300k miles on it and literally no issues. Fab tech shocks are boat anchors. My dad has some on his 2001 and I’ve literally never ridden in a rougher riding truck. Bilstein 5100’s are an upgrade and a fraction of the cost when it comes to ride comfort.

My favorite 4x4 channel. I drive a 2013 GX460. All the work you do is amazing, especially utilizing recourses. I love it. I'm surprised you sold the Taco, but financially that makes sense to grow the channel. PS. Ill give you 5k for the truck. 4k, what a price!

Believe it or not, those wheels would make someone doing a restomod squarebody Chevy pretty happy. Those are early 80s vintage Westerns (IIRC). Not sure what they are worth but they are somewhat sought after. Also: you are a brave soul keeping your "protection" where it is in your tow rig. Norcal locals might be cool with it but you cross paths with the wrong CHiPpie and you are gonna have a bad day.
I’d say make it a functional everyday prerunner, get some good performance upper and lower control arms, kings, and keep it with leaf sprung and flip it for a profit that would be cool to see.
4k is a deal! I got an clean title 170k mile 04 taco and paid nearly 11 grand for it, looking back I wish I would have gotten something more like this one, so I’d have more stuff to fix on! Love the videos man let’s see made into a Prerunner 🤟🤟
As a fellow 1st gen owner I’d love to see a nice long travel build. Total chaos makes a great kit for the 1st gen. Excellent price for that unit and I can’t wait to see how it turns out
Got my 1st gen tacoma (211k miles) about a year and a half ago and up until then as far as I know it was a pavement princess and no one ever used the elocker on it. I've been consistently using the locker when i offroad since I got it and so far I haven't had any trouble.
Love these 1st Gen Taco's! 🌮Plenty of work to keep you busy! It's going to be fun to watch the transformation. I vote Prerunner but hey it's your Taco fix it up the way you like it! 👍

A few years ago I would have called $4k an OK/reasonable deal. Now it's a great deal.

4x4 prerunner/trail truck rebuild those shocks they are great for the fast boi stuff in trucks cut and reweld them shackle hangers though
Flip it! Get a tune up, new exhaust, wheel's and tires, body work, a good detail, fender flare, bumpers and boom you can flip that for 15k easy.
