I had a similar reactions 40yrs ago from a neighbor when they were offered lobsters, but the strange thing was they live 2hrs from an economic zone that export lobsters to the world. These blue crabs are also an American staples on the east coast, there are crab festivals that Americans devoured in buckets.
We have dungeon crabs along the west coast. They could be from, I don't know, Alaska. We also have king crabs and they are definitely from the north Pacific. They are really tasty with butter. I am surprised that Ari and her family are not familiar with eating crabs.
I ❤ to watch videos of this family. The way Jay took the effort to cook so many dishes for his in laws (his beloved wife's family) showed his ❤for them. His in laws enjoying the food was a great sight..❤this loving, beautiful family of Aris and Jay.
Your father-in-law is just too adorable. When you showed him the crab's teeth, his expression made me laugh so hard that tears were rolling down my face. Jay, my husband is from Iceland and he also can't eat crabs. I think only Chinese can eat crabs. BTW, I am Chinese.
I visited Baltimore in 1983 and found out there were/are many crab specialize restaurants. I randomly try one (the restaurant serve only crabs,nothing else.) and it was one of the best crab I've ever had. Almost as good as 楊澄湖大閘(毛)蟹which is sweeter.

不同地区的家庭的个体差异而已，根本不算文化差异。中国人里也有很多人不吃这些的。
只是习惯而已，多吃几次就能适应了，就像以前很多人不能吃榴莲一样，一旦习惯了那个味道就特别喜欢。

亞洲人是都原型這麼直接吃，他們歐美都是已經處理好的所以這也不好說什麼，連雞鴨之類的都處理好的買回去直接煮，頭腳都會去掉，所以對他們有些人來說很可怕，糟糕，我小時候還看過殺雞割脖子放血燙熱水去😅但現在我也沒辦法直接看真的滿不舒服的😮💨

I think some Americans living near coastal regions do eat crabs. Alaskan Snow Crab, Jumbo Alaskan King Crab and Maryland Blue Crab are very famous.
True. Even major supermarket chains in Midwest often sell live or frozen lobsters, cooked crabs, crawfish, raw frog legs, and raw pig intestines.
