I had briefly debated trying to get a ZL1 1LE instead of the 2SS 1LE I ultimately went with. Basically came down to the ZLE would have been the very top of my budget, and I may have had to finance some of it rather than paying for the car outright, and I couldn't justify the extra cost with what I would be using the car for. While I do want to take it to the track, I don't know how much I'll be doing that and in my opinion you really need to be tracking the car hardcore to get the most out of the ZL1 1LE. I think I'll be more than happy with the 2SS 1LE, and it will still be the most powerful car I've owned with plenty of potential for even more should I feel the need for it.
I ordered an SS 1LE over the ZL1. 50K vs 70K msrp is what made me go for the 1LE. Underneath they’re essentially the same suspension etc, the supercharger is the biggest difference. I do like the ZL1 more(driven 2 before) due to the different front end+supercharger sound+speed but imo not worth 20 grand more unless you can comfortably afford spending that extra and looking to push more HP. I’ve also been looking at used ZL1’s prices and they’re around the 50K range so that’s something I see people jumping on instead of spending 50Kish on a new SS 1LE.
Well said…easily lost 20 grand on my trade BUT out of all cars available I chose it and still don’t regret it… since you’re so self aware I believe you’ll be just as happy too. Congrats
As a Camaro guy, I have mixed feelings on the look of the front end of the 1LE. But now looking at That color combo on the 1LE, that's just plain Bad ass!!! 😎 Looks crazy nice. Mind changed.
That particular look is only on the 2019 ,u either love it or hate it ,Im personally not a fan of the front ends of the 19s ,but i do like 20-23 front ends
Geraring is different in the ZL1, the TR-6060 has several gearing options and Chevy chose a taller option to be more reliable with the extra 200 lb/ft of torque. So while the SS tops 1st gear out around 52mp, the ZL1 does so at 60mph.
I’m guessing you’re going to need more headroom with a supercharged halo car so they gave it taller gears to get higher speeds and it doesn’t snap loose when you stab it… they could’ve went taller though!
I have a 10 speed ZL1 1LE driven manual all my life. I'm super happy i didn't get the manual. The 10 speed is so amazingly perfect in every way. All my friends ragged on my decision until they drove it same response every time massive praise. Its so surgically precise instant power in a hair splitting micro second.
Both cars are nice, before cov19 a ZL1 went for 60-66K new, a SS 40k plus with options, I got my ZL1/1LE with magnetic ride for 59K with 10K of 1LE OEM parts added by previous owner . Now a ZL1 can cost up to 90K, and a SS up to 60K with options. I don't think it's a good time for any purchases, but just like a modded LT1, a cam and a bolt on 2650R on a ZL1 in were talking 800 hp+ crank, 750 to the wheel is no problem. After my warranty that's what I'm doing.
Yep.. I got mine for about 77 grand just got back from the shop already at 850 crank on E85 and meth. I think I’m going to put a cam in and leave it… before Covid there were discounts galore and no wait times for ordering… now everything is a mess

Yeah the wing is the issue with trying to order a zl1 1le. With 23 being the last year I went with a 2023 2ss 1le. It was ordered in July of 2021 originally a 2022 car but was pushed to a 2023 model and I just got it the end of September: If you daily your car the ss 1le is the way to go. The zl1 1le is a very rough ride. It does handle amazing but it does feel heavier. I paid about 60k for mine but it’s pretty optioned out. Also if you buy it in California you get the copper free brakes and the rotors are the same size as the zl1 you can feel the difference. I believe that started in 22 for that option. Outside of California if you get a 1le it’s an additional $500 option. But I highly recommend getting it. Had to go 6 speed manual and the elsd with the 3.73 are amazing! Drove my 21 ss for two years had 17k miles and about a dozen tracks days. Sold it for $5k more than I originally paid for it. Gotta love that.
The SS 1LE brakes and ZL1 brakes are a bit different, the front rotors are slightly bigger for the ZL1 I can't remember if they're different in the rear. But this is coming from my bud who's a Chevy mechanic at a dealer that tends to sell a lot of Camaros

Are you seriously comparing bmw Hp?? We both know its underrated, lol. The new x3m competition is supposed to pump out around 503 hp, but that thing walks trackhawks from dig and roll like nothing!
Same…there’s a bunch of tiny upgrades you get the more and more I dive into this car. Very similar and very different at the same time…and then there’s the looks 🤤
When you first got the Zl1 did you have to adjust the suspension at all to be better on the street? How badly does it chew up tires? Or does it wear pretty evenly? It seemed that even on my 2014 one SS it always got bad wear on one side of the tire
Only the 1LE is adjustable…but no the rear and the front do not wear evenly rears wear the inside and the fronts wear the outsides…I believe if you mess with the mag ride the handling gets worse…

@@The_Drive_Inside dont get me wrong...if I had the means and the choice...I'd absolutely pick a gen 6 ZL1...its my favorite car... but If this were going to be my daily....SS all the way. I just dont think the ZL1 is worth it for "most" people... for under 40k you can get into a sub 4 second 0-60 car that can get as close to 200mph as most drivers should get with minor upgrades... if we are being honest....you are basically paying 70k+ for a Camaro with an LT4 that performs like a 2016+ C7 Z51 with an LT1 that might be a little cheaper insurance wise to own.... there really is not much difference (for most people) aside from preference, that would make the ZL1 that much more advantageous over the SS. As soon as I get it back to 💯 I’ll be putting the draggy in it
Are you seriously comparing bmw Hp?? We both know its underrated, lol. The new x3m competition is supposed to pump out around 503 hp, but that thing walks trackhawks from dig and roll like nothing!
@@2024hekyeah old news...like a year ago
Definitely a video….very informative!
Halo cars are awesome… but not for everyone…
Honestly, I like the look of the ss 1Le better.
Really?!?! That’s awesome I love my ZL1. Honestly both are good looking cars
I like the 1Le wheels better but not the hood or front end
ZL1 all the way, much more power, magnetic ride, and more...had SS 1LE now ZL1 would never go back
Same…there’s a bunch of tiny upgrades you get the more and more I dive into this car.
My '17 1SS M6 is a blast and can get 24mpg if I drive easy, but I won't lie, I have the urge to get a ZL1...not sure if it's really worth the money tbh
If you’re on the fence like that, I would say no it’s not worth the money… I think it takes a special buyer to buy and truly enjoy what the ZL1 can offer… you can get 650 hp out of a SS quite easy… I miss my 1SS 1LE
I’ve got a ‘18 1SS m6, it’s definitely a fun car. I kinda want to upgrade to a zl1, I really want the ‘17 krypton green m6, very hard to find. I’ve got a Hellcat also, thought it be great to have 2 cars with superchargers 🏎️💨💨💨
@@The_Drive_InsideHOW easy, money wise?
@@livinglife3230 even if you pay a shop to do it…$7,000 to $9,000 maybe 10. I traded my SS 1LE and lost about 25 or 30 grand 😐…. BUT I got a brand new car, 4 miles on it, the ZL1 front end LT4 blah blah blah. If you can stomach the loss then that’s different
The zl1 isn’t worth it. Supercharger on a 22+ SS is much better.
A ZL1, with the ten speed automatic transmission is a bomb.
a subscriber gave me a ride in his and it was soooo weird but FAST!
Ugh I had a SS 1LE on order but I didn’t want to wait over 6 months I’ll rather find a used ZL1 1le
Atta boy. I waited it out and I think you made the right call my friend
if you keep it in turing mode and not track mode youl get better gas milage.
Makes sense… maybe I’ll try it
I Love....LOVE...a ZL1...but...honestly, The gen6 SS 1LE can do the same thing with probably less than a what? An 8k investment....Id find a deal on one and send it to LMR...even with the 19k package, you are still spending less money and they warranty their work....Im sure you can put a new hood on it... I mean.... At what point do you just say eff it....lets just pick up a z06? Side note.....people seem to love Grey Camaros.
I get it… there’s a few things like upgraded axles, fuel system, better heads, the entire front end, the gear spacing, and resale… there’s pros and cons to both. I think buy what you want because honestly they’re all awesome cars!
@@The_Drive_Inside I mean...yeah...great cars...but the resale isnt a good argument because SS has a fantastic resale....when you can trade a 2019 2ss in 6k over what you financed it for with twice the miles on it.....I don't know if thats an issue.
Having said that...i LOVE your car and your content brother.
If i wanted fast I’d get a jailbreak hellcat but i just want a v8 manual that i can daily without being way too much for me. But i want an na v8 with bolt ons Ik it’s not gonna be the fastest but i love chevy
A built LT1 H/C/I and FBO is no joke…and i would have full confidence that it would take a beating without constantly breaking down. I have a jailbreak on order without a allocation lol.. BUT I’m picking ZL1 all day long
If only youtubers will show 90% of the car than themselves, I’d subscribe and finish the vid even for hours streaming 🤷♂️
I tried a faceless channel a couple years ago… tanked hard! Data shows the audience likes to feel their engaged in the conversation 🤷🏼♂️. I understand you gotta do what you gotta do though
@@The_Drive_Inside good to know 👍
I can’t even get 20mpg on the highway in my Tacoma and it’s slow AF!
I haven’t heard that in years 😂
The zl1 1le gets alot more attention. The pull you did in the beginning looked like you were only giving it like 1/4 throttle. Definitely need to break it in before you go full throttle. After break in, there is no comparison.
6,000 miles later…runs like a top 👌🏻
Great info appreciate it, also switch DECAF. lol
😂😂😂 I’m always getting the energy drink/drugs comments…I appreciate you 🤙🏻
Thanks for the tip
Definitely
Bought 2021 in 2020 80k got it for 74k supetfast 2021 zl11le yes gas is bad 5000miles 9 to 16 thats it who cares 650hp
Oohhhhh… silver too 😮💨
So no zl1 ok agree but which one would u recommend would u recommend a 1ss 1LE package or a 2ss 1LE package ?
1SS for a simple but raw driver’s car (I miss mine) 2SS if you want more features but all those add up on weight too… i wish I could get a 1SS equivalent in my ZL1
@@The_Drive_Inside so basically the 1ss 1LE and the 2ss are the same the only difference it’s that the 2ss 1LE has more features
But In u personal opinion which ss u like more n why ?
@@lll_Cabo_lll I like the 1SS because I only care about hauling ass and burning gas ⛽️. Fancy lighting and the radios etc.. don’t interest me that much I guess
@@The_Drive_Inside thank u sm for u opinion 🙏
So if you throw a supercharger charger on the SS 1LE is it basically the same car ?
Kinda in theory…shorter trans gears and narrower front track, slightly smaller brakes. There’s features here and there that are different and they add up to say no… but on paper yes.
Having a '22 2SS1LE in rapid Blue... All the inside options you mentioned, I have, the mirror, Red seatbelts (I ordered that) heated/Cooled seats. Suede on knee and doors, Bose , lighting.. the only thing I don't have that my 1SS HAD was I couldn't get the PDR at the time. I kinda wanted it but I never really used it.. I LOVE the hood on the ZL1 and THE FRONT FASCIA. it would be hard for me to justify$30k extra. But I'm planning on going to Hennessy in about a year or so to get that HP!! BEAUTIFUL CAR MAN!! HOPEFULLY HOT1LE gets his soon!
Agreed…it’s the front fascia and the LT4… I can feel they tweaked the gear ratios a bit other than that a 2SS 1LE has you covered… I love the wider front sooo much though!! I’m hoping Cody(and everyone) gets their car asap!! I know Cody has been going through v8 withdrawals hard!!!
A ZL1 is not 30k more than a similarly spec'd 1LE. When I got mine an SS would have been about 50k compared to 65k on the zl1.
@@arkarius944 whoa whoa… you don’t know how much I paid or how much I owed on my SS 1LE 🤨. That scenario is assuming they are both new and sitting side by side on the showroom and you’re getting them for sticker… I’m not lying.. I’m being transparent with you guys…
@@The_Drive_Inside obviously I have no idea what you paid. Just speaking of what they would cost when I was looking at them, new, of course.
@@arkarius944 not now
169 mpg on half a tank???? I drive my SS 1LE in NY and I get 217mpg to 250mpg on a full tank 😅
Whoaaa that’s got to be a lot of bumper to bumper traffic…I’d bet I could drain the tank in about 2hrs of hard driving. But I love it to much so I’ll pay it
@@The_Drive_Inside oh yeah, bumper to bumper traffic is all too common in NY, that and a lot of red lights and stop signs and now 24/7 speed cams so we HAVE TO slow down then give er gas again after passing it, terrible
Get both - I did
They’re to similar for me… seems like a waste. I’d love to have a hellcat and a ZL1 👌🏻
Yes!!! I need it 😅
lol…
If you could find a vivid orange metallic zl1 1le and make a video of it. That would be awesome seems to be a very hard color to find on a zl1 1le
Maaan 2022 ZL1 1LE is a hard car to find period… vivid orange is growing on me though 😏
@@The_Drive_Inside I am sure if this is true or not but some one told me gm might have made less than 20 vivid orange metallic zl1 1le last year. 😎 Just changed my order from rapid blue to vivid orange metallic zl1 1le. One of the sales man I work with sent me a picture of the zle that they had just got in vivid orange 🍊 metallic 🔥
@@The_Drive_Inside The 2022 charger hellcat redeye widebody jailbreak is get 9 miles per gallon.
@@The_Drive_Inside I am so happy I pulled my zo6 security deposits. Gm just released the zo6 pricing. Ouch so many people are going to wish they never sold there current vehicles😢.
@@jusapurepower3114 I agree it’s a lot more than I expected. I think they should not have sold their C8’s because if they can’t afford the Z06 they will have a hard time getting a new C8👊🏼
There is no blind spot monitoring
2SS doesn’t come with blind spot monitoring?
@@The_Drive_Inside the 2SS does have active blind spot monitoring and rear view mirror/display like a ZL1.
You are complaining about 15.7? That is not bad at all.
you're right... its awesome, my bad
That gas mileage is phenomenal compared to a Hellcat
What is the range on the Hellcat?
Like 13 on a good day
Generally like 9-10 on average for me though
Also I love the ZL1, I’ve had a Manual Rapid Blue ZL1 1LE on order since Sept of last year, they pushed it to a 2023 model year now and still have yet to pick up the order
Its 2022 the 10 speeds are running the world
Ruining or running 🤔

Lol what the he'll w the music😂
I’m over that trap beat shit
@@The_Drive_Inside I am also😂
Almost 200 more horse power so of course there'd be a fuel issue. Also, that SS 1LE looks amazing.
Since then I’ve added another 250hp (887hp) crank and the fuel mileage hasn’t really changed from bone stock
Better MPG than a 2000's V6 Honda 😂
Breaking in a engine will lead to better mpg, that's not how it works. That one sentence shows that you really don't know what your talking about
Got to love to channels that criticize but have no content up to show us how it’s done… sorry bud but that’s exactly how it works.
The transmissions are geared slightly different. I can't remember where I saw the specs at, it might have been from a download in tremec websight.. I was surprised when I saw it because I thought a 6060 was a 6060, but nope, they really are geared different. Also all the different makes and models are different gearing. Edit I found it listed here under ratios.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremec_TR-6060_transmission
I F#CKING knew it! I can’t find much to back my suspicions I swear gears 1-3 are way taller for sure! If you find it tag me… appreciate you!
@@The_Drive_Inside I found something here but it doesn't list the current zl1 ratios.

@@The_Drive_Inside Owned 18 2SS 1LE for 3 years (30k miles), traded in for ZL1 1LE. You are correct :) I don't have the manual handy anymore, but know for a fact that the SS 1LE has different gearing than the ZL1. Then there is also a difference between Zl1 gearing and ZL1 1LE. ZLE has shorter 6th gear.
@@Oggyzd exactly! I can really tell gears one through three but other than that they might feel a little different but the difference would be so minimal that such high speeds
brake are not EXACTLY the same, just a different color:
SS 1LE front rotor diameter: 14.6"
SS 1LE rear rotor diameter: 13.3"
ZL1 front rotor diameter: 15.35"
ZL1 rear rotor diameter: 14.4"
If you get the SS 1LE with copper free break system, you get the same front/rear rotors, as wells as calipers a ZL1 has.
@@levelup3426 they looks close. The BCD copper free are the ct5 V blackwing caliper and rotors not zl1
@@shawnm.1540 well I looked it up, you are correct. The CT5-V calipers and rotors are actually larger than ZL1s Rotors and calipers. (CT5-V 398mm vs 390mm ZL1)

1le looks wat better. Zl1 performance is better
Ok ok that’s fair
Go buy a Prius dude you complaining about mileage

Zl11le king of the hill 650hp better than 455
Yeah…i’m now 50/50 on ZL1/ZL1 1LE. The LT4 is such a good platform as opposed to LT1. There’s a lot of benefits if you’re looking for power
