Uncle Khalifa Nusrat Ali Shah (76) left us mournful. He died in a deadly vehicle accident closed to Karimabad, Khyber, subdivision Gojal while driving to a nearby hospital for a follow-up consultation with his physician on January 15, 2024.
Uncle Nusrat Ali Shah spent his entire life as Khalifa, led community delegations and other important communal events for nearly five decades. He was one of 59 community members who built a 1.3-kilometer Hussainabad tunnel for irrigation water, marking a watershed moment in the village history. Hussainabad Water Tunnel, a symbol of human perseverance, solidarity, and triumph. This 1,300-foot-long tunnel was dug by 59 members of the Village Organisation of Sost using conventional tools. The Hussainabad Water Tunnel project began in 1982 and was completed in 1985.
A vibrant personality, diehard Bhuttoist who used to mingle with everyone and encouraged everyone to pursue education and work hard with integrity and dignity.
