@@alex3rd11 Stealing creations was fantastic but I doubt it would pass a poll with it's original rewards shop, which also would make it a dead minigame. All being said, I probably just missing playing in that time period most.
All I remember hearing of Nomad was "it dumb he not drop his cape for prayer" and "he's hard as jad" by the regulars in the barely 2010 era. I think you just took ruby bolts and your summoning tortoise (or better which most people had) and out-lived him until you hit enough bolt specs, but most people didn't understand the basic game functions before EOC happened when every player complained about it changing.
Nomad definitely holds a special place in my heart, I remember grinding td's just to get a claw drop to SELL to be able to afford my dozens of attempts at Nomad. Man, I somehow confused Nomad being in While Guthix Sleeps, for a long time, but, God, I never could do it, back then. I remember getting to the fight and dying three times, and being like “Well, this is impossible…” I’d never done Jad back then, but if they backport Nomad’s Requiem, I’d love to give him another go.
Took me about 4-5 tries but I loved the challenge and still remember it to this day! Runescape suddenly felt like playing a video game for once! It was a big leap from cutting ivy and playing Stealing Creation.
What a memory, something like this will never come back. This was just really hard, there wasn't any big meta on release (Even Dungeoneering & the Chaotic Rapier/ Crossbow - new meta weren't out and these took very long to get on release) I think it took me like 37 attempts, I can't recall fully how but I think I relied on Rune Crossbow hoping to hit bolt spec procs, War Tortoise full + a Kyatt switch. This was it, no safespots, no cheese methods - If you stayed too long away or to far away Nomad just would call you Pathetic, heals full & reset the fight.
Had someone try to do it for me back then, couldn't. Said my levels were too low. And they were better at pvm then me. Cheesed him with kyatt. Learned about the kyatt strat after a few attempts When i ran into him in dominion tower, i was ready. Claws, cls, steel titan, void, turmoil and soul split. I took great pleasure tearing him apart for all the stress he caused me during his quest
I will always fondly remember this quest and the PTSD it gave me. But hey, I got what was at that point in time one of the best capes in the game in 2010. It just cost me most of my bank and my sanity. But in all honesty, this era of RS was the best, and had one of the best gaming communities that helped get you through challenges such as Nomad.
I remember doing this vividly and how bad it was, all my friends were grinding this boss for hours. Then I remember some guy sending advice at edgeville about hiding behind the pillar and just using a steel titan + using its special attack to take on nomad, I didn't have the summoning level for that so I just used a Kyatt instead, worked like a charm!
I never got to fight Nomad pre-EoC (didn't have the requirements along with being afraid to fight him after seeing video) but I played for a bit afterwards and he still gave me trouble (I had never done anything mechanically harder than puzzles and click-and-wait slayer up until then). Definitely feel like he earned that title back then.
The Spirit Kyatt wasn't for damage, there was a bug that using the Kyatt spec would actually somehow stop Nomad from attacking all together so you could kill Nomad unopposed. I sadly used this glitch back in the day as there was no way I could have fought him legit.
Definitely remember this being a challenge back in the day, however it was definitely a skill issue thing, like if Jagex lowered his DPS to compensate for the lack of summoning I could even see him as an OSRS quest boss, his avoidable mechanics literally already exist on other quest bosses so they wouldn't be as much as an issue, Galvek has a mine mechanic that's actually *harder* than nomad's since it's a 1 hit instead of 40 damage, Robert the Strong from Dragon Slayer 2 has a pillar mechanic, and Fragment of Seren has a max health - 1 attack, the previously mentioned Galvek even has *more* health than nomad did. Would definitely be one of the more challenging quest bosses but yeah, mechanically it'd have been a lot more manageable when the player base has done them in other quests.
I was a maxed combat account on release and it took like 2 tries with a war tortoise. There’s definitely something to be said for the difficulty of Nomad in the context of that era, but The Whisperer is much much harder on a pure mechanics standpoint.
I remember going into this boss fight with a terror bird full of supplies and a kyatt.... took me soo many tries but got my quest cape for the first time after this quest
Oh man I remember having trouble taking him down back then. I saw people in the friend chat say that he was "easy" while I was on my third try and made me think maybe I'm just that bad. I don't even remember how many tries it took for me to beat him but I do remember spamming the Quest cape emote at the GE after I beat him.
I think i done it on my first try using mostly ruby bolts (e) range setup and using the pillars, i remember watching 'Amber Meow or 'Going Crazy201' quest guide and watched and studied how she defeated Nomad
I remember my buddy beating Nomad back in the day i never completed the quest cause it was just to difficult. Hoping they bring it back to osrs though Nomad would be a good edition.
boss relied on rng with rubies but was very easy if you landed a bandos godsword special for a 30-50~ - if not, redo. most players did not know what debuffing was.
I remember beating him in melee void using a bgs for spec, and whip with DFS for regular attacking. I popped off so hard. Found out after the kill I still had my cooking gauntlets on because I had to restock food before the kill haha
I remember I only ever beat him thanks to what felt like borderline cheating but is now well-known, *flinching.* If you time it just right you can flinch him just enough before he would teleport you to him that it actually allows you to deal more damage than you're taking, since he hit through all forms of prayer. I feel like if they released him now, thanks to the amount of borderline exploit level knowledge people have on the game (level 3 fire capes, jeez!!!), they wouldn't have nearly as much trouble.
I remember him well, he was a royal pain at the time but I finally killed him by bringing a barbarian prayer potion with me of all things (that provided a few extra hp). It was just enough to survive after many failed attempts. It's funny there are 122 uncompleted quests came out since then lol EOC, Solomon's Store and Squeal of Fortune killed me.
Beneath Cursed Sands boss Ahk was the hardest to defeat IMO, with context. It is never really even mentioned as something to prepare for so I was wholly unprepared when I first took him on. Coming from someone who defeated each Galvek & Klause on the first try.

I tried it once normally and failed, then I read about the spirit kyatt method. Did it first time with the spirit kyatt. One thing you could do was use staff of light spec during his enrage phase to halve taken dmg, and then just spam the spirit kyatt ability to kill him, it was so braindead. Honestly don't really remember nomad as a tough boss.
