A much deserved comeuppance. Trask so had this coming. And you know Barnabas relished putting in the final brick listening to Trask's screams.
The good reverend now wishes he had listened to Nathan about staying away from the Old House.
Nathan is setting up his scheme to win back Millicent, at the Collins' family expense to boot.
Joshua would not have been happy with the Countess for telling Millicent the truth (or what he thought was the truth) about Barnabas. Frankly, I wouldn't have blamed him. Not sure I would trust Millicent with keeping a secret either, no doubt the main reason he didn't let her in on what happened to Barnabas.

Dark Shadows is full of great villain deaths- when Nicholas is recalled by the Devil, Garth Blackwood condemns Count Petofi and tells Barnabas and Charity/ Pansy to go, Judith's torment of Gregory Trask as she tells him he will not get out of that room, Barnabss confronts Abigail , Barnabas kills Forbes.Trask's death in 1795 is a great moment and both Frid and Lacy carry it off excellently.

@@atticus8659 Phillip didn't deserve such a tragic end.
All he wanted was to run an antique shop with his wife, and instead he was brainwashed into a monsterous cult, forced to take the rap for 3 murders he didn't commit, and ends up dying for all his troubles.
Worst part of all, Phillip for all time will unjustly be considered a cold-blooded killer.

Sonetimes, Trask looks more like a vampire than Barnabas himself.

He certainly could've starred in his own movie after D.S. went off the air in 71 and it would be called Trask the vampire slayer, Grandfather to Buffy.

many of my favorite episodes are the ones where trask meets his maker. ive always said there was more to the trasks than we knew. trash claimed he didnt have sex with women but his grandson shows up in later episodes.

According to the Dark Shadows Wiki, "Trask married in the early 1790s, which resulted [in] the birth of his son Lamar Trask." Thus, when he arrived in Collinsport in 1795 he was already married and had a son. Through Lamar, he was the grandfather of Elias Trask, who lived in the 1860s. He was the great-grandfather of Gregory Trask, a cruel preacher and educator who died in 1897.
It seems to be completely consistent with his character for him not to talk about his wife and son, nor even give them a thought, when he is away from them so that he can concentrate on doing "God's" work of witch hunting.
Perhaps when Trask claimed he didn't have sex with women, he meant other than with his wife since sex outside of marriage is a sin. In the Big Finish audio productions of new Dark Shadows stories, their are indications that his claim even in that sense is not true.

🎶Lights out, Uh-huh, for Trask, Trask, Trask. Lights out.🎶
So long, Mr. Reverend Trask, we'll miss you.
    Whoops, you're forgotten already.
Now who was that mean man in black? 🤔
Good going Barnabas. Beware of Trasks future descendants wanting revenge. 😡

"Then you admit you persecuted her."
    "Yes."
"Perhaps you would like to submit that confession to paper."
    "Yes. I'll write it."
"I thought you would welcome the opportunity to declare her innocence."
"She's innocent. She's not the witch... My... my hand is trembling so."
"A few words will do. And a signature."
"There. I've done it. I've confessed. She is innocent. I've signed my name."
"Excellent. A trifle incoherent but it will suffice."
    "Now, now may I go?"
    "Soon. Very soon."
    "Why, uh... why not now?"
"Because your final resting place is not yet ready."
"No, NO! You can't kill me! I've signed my confession--"
"You confessed voluntarily. I never said I would free you."
