Never knew that. I was always a big metal fan and in HS a buddy of mine got into grunge hard and thought I was weird for calling AiC a metal band. I got into them through metal bands though so that's probably why. I never really though about it to much till I met that dude. They defo had a heavier sound from a lot of acts at the time. Interesting stuff, I appreciate you sharing 🤘🤘
I believe Layne sounded better live. No fancy digital enhancing needed when you have the most powerful voice in Seattle!! Layne was a god, but he was also very kind hearted. He was all around a great person who unfortunately was defeated by his demons. Thats was the tragedy in it all... he was a good person with a problem bigger than him.
I was straight wiped out when I found this!!! Dropped my guitar down a half step tuning & jammed this out with the band!!!! The half step down tuning & Layne Staley make this a completely different song
This is 10000% facts. Jerry's riffs are so Ionnes inspired it's not even funny. If you've never heard Sabbath but are familiar with AIC.. go back and listen to Sabbath and it will all make sense. Same with Sound Garden
Hey mate! Thanks for your work! I really appreciate you giving us a better glimpse into Layne's talent with these hidden gems. Could you please do "Sludge Factory" from their 1996 Kemper area concert? Easily one of my favorite Layne recordings of all time, just the audio quality is not the best. You would make my year if you could do it, thanks so much bros
Hey!! Could you do this with their cover of Hunted Down by Soundgarden. (Possibly from this same recording because they also did Sweet Leaf on the one I heard)
Lyrics Alright now! Won't you listen? When I first met you, didn't realize I can't forget you or your surprise You introduced me to my mind And left me wanting you and your kind Oh, yeah I love you Oh, you know it My life was empty, forever on a down Until you took me, showed me around My life is free now, my life is clear I love you sweet leaf, though you can't hear Oh, yeah baby! Come on now, try it out! Straight people don't know what you're about They put you down and shut you out You gave to me a new belief And soon the world will love you sweet leaf Oh, yeah baby! Come on now, try it out! Oh, yeah!
When asked about what makes music "grunge," Layne replied, "Dafuq would we know, we're a metal band."

AIC is a metal band no doubt
@@revwillyg6450 hard Rock. Not much metal.
@@kimchandler We Die Young and Last of my Kind not metal enough for you? Ok, it's all subjective I suppose
Specifically, the slow blues groove makes it Doom Metal or Stoner Metal.
But yes, definitely Metal.
Found out about this today on Instagram. Freaking phenomenal
Same this is so dope
Same here mate!
I was lucky enough to witness this live in Cincinnati, it was Laynes birthday as well.
I was at that show. Bogarts. 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
I'm a huge AIC fan & I've never heard this before. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for listening! :)
me too.
X3
this is real?
Same 😮😮😮😮
@@alejandrovintyeah there’s video of it too that’s where the sbd audio is from
Geezer Butler is one of the best songwriters of all time. This is a gem!
Wish they had put this on a CD. Amazing live imagine in the studio

I listen to my AIC live cd almost more than the albums
How could I never have heard this before!?! WTF¡?!?
Hey, you can find the video on youtube, its the live from Cincinnati 1991
@@9th_note
Thanks for sharing Mr. Buzzkill😅
@@9th_noteThe forgetting words was intentional. He shorten the song a bit. Other bands do the same to make it their own.
Same here.
Omg! Thanks for sharing. Im going to check it out on utube.
The sheer power, range, and precision of Layne’s voice never ceases to amaze me.
I always point out the connection between AIC and BS, but nobody else seems to hear it. I always said that Dirt was a 90s version of Paranoid.
You don't know what this means to me. I'm so pumped to be hearing something new to me from one of the best bands to ever exist
There’s footage of this too bro look up Alice in chains live 91 vidcab, it’s from bogarts Cincinnati 91
which one
First time I ever saw AIC was in a club Seattle (a couple times). This is awesome quality. I cried for both Layne and Chris. Miss them both dearly.
praise sabbath for inventing grunge 🙌
I think you mean heavy metal 🤘🏻
Layne sounds great!
As usual
It was his birthday that night
Layne suplexing the band is what I needed today.
Lane could wale , rock on !
WHAT THE!?!?!?!?! :O i never knew they did a cover! thank you for this!!!!!!!!
Hey, you can find the video on youtube, its the live from Cincinnati 1991
Was this from Bogart's in Cincinnati 1991 Layne's Birthday Show? If so, I think I have a digital in .mp4 of this entire show!! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
@@zman0729 post it, man!!!!
Amazing work! I love how how accurately they reproduced Sabbath's guitar and vocal effects. Obviously you can hear a ton of Sabbath influence on Dirt

Merry Christmas to me😅 I am 43 years young and not only have I never heard this but I never knew they covered any black sabbath songs!
Damn, thanks algorithm!! ive always loved the sabbath version, but Layne KILLED IT!!
I saw them open up for Extreme before anyone knew who they were in 1990
2 of my favorite bands in one song. This validates my argument that AIC was Sabbath Jr, in the best way.
This is 10000% facts.

Always wanted to hear Layne on those old Sabbath records!
I'm really waiting for their official release, I hope
The fuck, how?
That is monsterous singing live!!!!! Layne rocked!! Thanks but where's the rest??? (we are so greedy!)

I've just checked the kemper live, the audio quality is very rough but i'll try to do something
ua-cam.com/video/zLuPcWbv6S0/v-deo.html There, I did what I could, it's far from perfect
the whole show was professionally recorded so i wish it would be released in high-fidelity someday
All good metal bands took some Sabbath and Zeppelin DNA.
Sounds great. Shame you didnt remaster the whole medley that this clip comes from
Thanks, I might do it
Do it :)
@@nerojotunpleaaase do 😢 !
Leave it to the professionals Alice in wonderland 😂
Is this AI?! Never heard it before! WOWZA!!!
I bet Ozzy would approve
Can’t believe after all these years I hadn’t heard this! Layne rips. I’ve always felt a Sabbath/Pantera/AIC connection
You can always tell the casual AIC fans lol…all props to Layne, none to Jerry 😂
Bullshit. What’s your fucking credentials then?
I can't be casual then, Cantrell is in my top ten favourite axe men.
I had no idea how bad i needed this. Thank you.....
how much I would pay for a AIC studio album made of black Sabbath covers
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever heard AIC ever do a cover before.
Verão original ou IA?

This isn’t bad but I think Ugly kid joe covered this the best.
Huge sabbath and aic fan. Thought this was pretty terrible. I guess I'm the only one.
I always said that the only voice that remember me Ozzy Osbourne was Layne Staley. I think this record shows I was not crazy!
Iommi who? I’m sorry this blows sabbath away.
damn this goes hard
This was on his birthday in 1991?
Shame they didn't have the lyrics there
Ugly kid Joe version is a killer too. I love all 3 bands
Thank you.
He should have stuck to the sweet leaf.
Oooh yeahhh
Wow, just wow!
Hell yeah 🔥
Ya. No.
This is legit and not some crappy AI mashup???
yep it was a thing layne wanted to do for his birthday which was that night. took place at bogart's in cincinnati back in 91
This is so fucking awesome!

AI anyone ?
So glad this is remastered

I've never heard this song before. But the rift does sound very familiar. Cool stuff.
Well, I know why the Rift sounds familiar it's because it's a Black Sabbath Song.
Time to go down the black Sabbath rabbit hole 🕳
Godsmack did a great cover too.
Fitting, heavy, powerful.
Really cool. Thanks for sharing!
That nurtured my soul.
Oh shit…..now this is dope! Never heard this till today. Match made in heaven!❤
