Never knew that. I was always a big metal fan and in HS a buddy of mine got into grunge hard and thought I was weird for calling AiC a metal band. I got into them through metal bands though so that's probably why. I never really though about it to much till I met that dude. They defo had a heavier sound from a lot of acts at the time. Interesting stuff, I appreciate you sharing 🤘🤘
I believe Layne sounded better live. No fancy digital enhancing needed when you have the most powerful voice in Seattle!! Layne was a god, but he was also very kind hearted. He was all around a great person who unfortunately was defeated by his demons. Thats was the tragedy in it all... he was a good person with a problem bigger than him.
It's a shame really. The late 60's early 70's was 20 years before AIC. It been 33 years since Alice n Chains did this so yeah your right. However 99.9 percent of today's music sounds like sh!t so I guess I'm glad that I grew up on this kind of music.
This is 10000% facts. Jerry's riffs are so Ionnes inspired it's not even funny. If you've never heard Sabbath but are familiar with AIC.. go back and listen to Sabbath and it will all make sense. Same with Sound Garden
People that don't hear it aren't really listening . Jerry basically copied a lot of what Tony Iommi did . Like the doomy bends he does in many of his riffs , that became AIC trademark style . Also one of the riffs in the song Angry Chair , he clearly took from Into the Void . Jerry was no doubt highly influenced by Iommi .
I was straight wiped out when I found this!!! Dropped my guitar down a half step tuning & jammed this out with the band!!!! The half step down tuning & Layne Staley make this a completely different song
They "cover" living after midnight right after sweet leaf. Some of the lyrics are.....how should I say this......creatively enhanced for entertainment purposes
Hey mate! Thanks for your work! I really appreciate you giving us a better glimpse into Layne's talent with these hidden gems. Could you please do "Sludge Factory" from their 1996 Kemper area concert? Easily one of my favorite Layne recordings of all time, just the audio quality is not the best. You would make my year if you could do it, thanks so much bros
Hey!! Could you do this with their cover of Hunted Down by Soundgarden. (Possibly from this same recording because they also did Sweet Leaf on the one I heard)

When asked about what makes music "grunge," Layne replied, "Dafuq would we know, we're a metal band."

AIC is a metal band no doubt
@@revwillyg6450 hard Rock. Not much metal.
@@kimchandler We Die Young and Last of my Kind not metal enough for you? Ok, it's all subjective I suppose
Specifically, the slow blues groove makes it Doom Metal or Stoner Metal.
But yes, definitely Metal.
Layne sounds great!
As usual
It was his birthday that night
91" Layne was insane
I'm a huge AIC fan & I've never heard this before. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for listening! :)
me too.

this is real?
Same 😮😮😮😮
@@alejandrovintyeah there’s video of it too that’s where the sbd audio is from

which one
❤❤❤

@@peddr.o huh?
I was lucky enough to witness this live in Cincinnati, it was Laynes birthday as well.
I was at that show. Bogarts. 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
In my opinion you are one of the luckiest people alive!! I would’ve killed to have been there, wow!!!
Wish they had put this on a CD. Amazing live imagine in the studio

I listen to my AIC live cd almost more than the albums
@@rickdavis4740Was he really defeated by his demons? We still love him and his music.
The sheer power, range, and precision of Layne’s voice never ceases to amaze me.
Found out about this today on Instagram. Freaking phenomenal
Same this is so dope
Same here mate!
Layne suplexing the band is what I needed today.
Geezer Butler is one of the best songwriters of all time. This is a gem!
didnt you hear Layne at the start? its a little ditty they wrote themselves! totally and completely original
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣@@VexedSpartan117
Awesome bassist too!
@@VexedSpartan117this is a sabbath song..what layne said at the beginning was a joke

Thanks for sharing Mr. Buzzkill😅

2 of my favorite bands in one song. This validates my argument that AIC was Sabbath Jr, in the best way.

This is true?
Yep those riffs are def up sabbaths alley!
You can always tell the casual AIC fans lol…all props to Layne, none to Jerry 😂
Bullshit. What’s your fucking credentials then?
I can't be casual then, Cantrell is in my top ten favourite axe men.
Correct.
tbf neither of them wrote this song
And Sean killing it too
First time I ever saw AIC was in a club Seattle (a couple times). This is awesome quality. I cried for both Layne and Chris. Miss them both dearly.
I always point out the connection between AIC and BS, but nobody else seems to hear it. I always said that Dirt was a 90s version of Paranoid.

💔Layne💔
Damn, thanks algorithm!! ive always loved the sabbath version, but Layne KILLED IT!!
Always wanted to hear Layne on those old Sabbath records!
I saw them open up for Extreme before anyone knew who they were in 1990
All good metal bands took some Sabbath and Zeppelin DNA.
And deep purple.
I always said that the only voice that remember me Ozzy Osbourne was Layne Staley. I think this record shows I was not crazy!
That nurtured my soul.
Same! I am still pissed that someone thought it was a good idea for Jelly Roll to sing at Ozzie's introduction into the Hall of Fame! Like wtf???
This just made my day.
Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever heard AIC ever do a cover before.
They "cover" living after midnight right after sweet leaf. Some of the lyrics are.....how should I say this......creatively enhanced for entertainment purposes
Amazing work! I love how how accurately they reproduced Sabbath's guitar and vocal effects. Obviously you can hear a ton of Sabbath influence on Dirt
I had no idea how bad i needed this. Thank you.....
Can’t believe after all these years I hadn’t heard this! Layne rips. I’ve always felt a Sabbath/Pantera/AIC connection
I'm really waiting for their official release, I hope
The fuck, how?
