The discovery of a mysterious time transporter sends Spike and the Transformers to medieval times, where Starscream plots to take over the home of a knight named Sir Aethling the Red. With the help of their new friends in the past, Spike and the Autobots defeat the Decepticons and take them back to their own time with them.

I always forget Starscream is supposed to be a scientist.
same, given how stupid he is half the time lol

It's usually an overlooked trait of him. One that doesn't fully dissapear though, but people never put too much mind about it.
In animated he creates clones using protoforms and the allspark, in Prime he participates in Knock Out's projects and seems to understand him perfectly. He's usually nowadays overlooked for Shockwave in that regard but he has been always crafty in those aspects.

Starscream was so glad to be home he didn’t try to usurp Megatron for a whole week.
One day Michael Bay set his gaze upon this very episode, and found himself inspired. As the closing credits rolled, Bay said to himself, "I bet I could adapt this into a full live-action TransFormers movie... but somehow make it even more insipid and nonsensical!"
And now you know how "TransFormers: The Last Knight" came to be.
And if you pause at 21:46, you'll see the inspiration for thousands of Megatron/Starscream ship-fics.

Anyone else ever notice that as Starscream’s available resources go down, his lethality and ability goes up? I mean between this and the time he was exiled to an island and within a matter of days had cobbled together an army and overthrown Megatron…
He has to use his brain in those desperate times, that's why. Usually he barely use his brain to do something.
Then in typical Starscream fashion he tripped at the finish line.
@@jeremytung1632 Oh of course. Starscream - and I do specifically mean G1 Starscream - is my favorite Transformer, but I love him for his flaws as much as for his strengths. It just wouldn't be Starscream if he didn't find some way to slag everything up and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I find it hilarious that the people of Medieval Times are so accepting of the Transformers existence and only question them a few times. Not only are they Robotic Aliens from another Planet, but they also Transform into Vehicles they wouldn’t even be able to comprehend.

@@disneyboy3030nah I actually like the idea that g1 transformers allowed the other different creatures and forces to exist along side main ones without everything being explained by cybertronians visiting earth. It makes the establish universe more diverse 😁
I also love how casually this episode is about how magic and dragons existed in this world at one point in time.
seeing how soundwave and megatron both shrink to absurd sizes when they transform, magic existing in this universe isn't that far-fetched

I love how Merlin is all "yeah the dragon isn't here, he's away visiting relatives"
As a Starscream fan since childhood, this is one of the silliest and probably one of my favourite ever episodes of G1 😂❤
In the context of 'silly', he is the best thinker in the group that went back in time

In some continuities Warpath is so loud because he going deaf from his own cannon fire.

The Latin American dub did away with his speech pattern and gave him a different personality, that of a serious soldier. He was more like a G.I. Joe character there.

Honestly, a whole TF series of Autobots and Decepticons fighting during Medieval times, with the Autobots siding with King Arthur and the knights of the Round Table would be pretty interesting to watch.

The comic mini series “hearts of steel” was supposed to be the first in an anthology of transformers in different time periods.

I’ve got a headcanon of an archeologist throwing out a sixth century tapestry because it depicts Autobots and decepticons.

Even in the IDW comics where he rises to the top of Cybertronian society, he eventually voluntarily gives up power after some very Machiavellian actions.
I don't see any small kindness coming from Starscream. Especially at 1:44-1:51
I love some of his stories in Marvel UK like 'Stargazing' and 'Fallen Star'. Really great character pieces for him. The former has a human trying to teach him the meaning of Christmas. The latter is how he seems himself as a joke and failure while his allies and enemies are actually fucking terrified of him.

And Michael Bay still managed to make it bad! He took so much from G1, and besides using the Ultimate Doom and Megatron's Master Plan to great effect in Dark of the Moon, he didn't do very well with it all.

Not necessarily. Many Transformers have alternate modes that aren't based on anything in particular. Metroplex and Fortress Maximus's city and battle station modes for example.

If I were Starscream I’d pissed, he got blasted back over 1000 years without any of his energy, so he invented 2 separate sources of electricity using golden coins and crystals and even created gunpowder, only for Gandalf to rock up, cast leviosa and give Hoist and Warpath a free win

The Autobots should've left Starscream, Ramjet, Rumble and Ravage there in Camelot to die of energon depletion. They had the chance because the deceptions were weak; but then all of a sudden they're walking alongside them. Plus, I'm really shocked Starscream would've walked that peacefully along with the Autobots without trying to leave them behind.
They are Autobots. They follow moral codes. They can't leave anyone to die even if it is a Decepticon. If you read the comics, you will understand that more. Autobots don't kill prisoners. At this point Starscream and the others are their prisoners and they are too low on energy to escape. And leaving some robots in ancient time isn't a good idea. History can be changed. Someone might be able to reverse engineer them and change history.
I don't think you realize how time works if they stayed in the past they could have f***** with the future Star screen could have found a way to create nuclear weapons in the past and wipe out humanity which would then lead to spike not existing in the present And neither chip or any of the other humans which would lead to a significant missing Part in the earlier episodes because yeah without humans there would be no energy on Earth so the Transformers would all slowly starve in the modern day
