The people living in what is known as Matabele state in Zimbabwe are often referred to as the Ndebele, AmaNdebele, Matabele or Northern Ndebele. They are factually distinguished from the Southern Ndebele in South Africa who speak a different language and culture. The Ndebele in Zimbabwe are the descendants of His Majesty Mzilikazi Khumalo's followers who originate in what is today known as Kwa-Zulu Natal South Africa. There are some who's ancestors originate in other parts of Southern Africa as many joined Mzilikazi in his journey but their language and cultural arrangement is identical to that of the great Zulu nation found in Natal. I may be wrong but in My opinion, it would be more historically and culturally accurate to either refer to them as Northern Zulu's or call them by another name such as the nation of Mkhwanazi in the alternative.
