  • Day 2 of The Great Britain XVI tour ran from Cheltenham to Lancaster and is seen here passing through Stafford, running over twenty minutes early.
The train was double headed by Black Fives 44871 and 45407, with class 47 No 47812 on the rear.
With almost perfect timing, the red signal at the end of platform 5 changed to green as the train approached, allowing the train to accelerate through the station before taking the fast line to Crewe.

Yes I caught it too at bowling green lane overbridge and they were absolutely hammering it
And it’s been 8 years since I last saw these two together to ever come through the bromsgrove area

Nicely captured Rob and if hand held you did better than I could with that zoom Lol. They left the water stop 10 early so gained a bit more so good job you were there in good time. Cheers, Brian.

Thanks Brian. I used a tripod but zooming in or out slowly can be a bit tricky with my camera, so was quite pleased with it 😀 . Had planned to go to Searchlight Lane but luckily spotted it was routed fast line so had to have a rethink. Cheers, Rob

@@staffordian yes Rob, that's my excuse for rarely doing it too, prefer to just crop the shot beforehand lol.
