Unbelievable comeback and win by Harimoto... This final will go in history... Great match
Nope...Harimoto did well to stay in this, but the match was all about LGY's choking TWICE!
I think 3 - 0 Lin will win this game for 4 - 0
But Hatimoto can recovery game to win for this game
Unbelievable
Good job for Non Chinese player victory
Harimoto's last 7 points are so solid, look at that! All along the match he had quite a bit of trouble with his backhand/forehand transitions, lots of balls in the net. LGY's shots were deep and in the middle. But he still managed to get lots of points with his amazing backhand flicks and loops. Some great reflex passive blocks as well. And then mentally... Poor LGY this one will hurt!!!
@@thewizardssleeve119 there is some truth to this, but the serving of Harimoto at the end of the last 2 sets was just incredibly good. Possibly some of the best serving I have ever seen.
@@bernardlanguillier7970 Completely agree. Harimoto changed his service pattern, length and placement quite unpredictably for the tight moments and Lin simply had no answer to that. Lin was made to choke by Harimoto, he didn't make it happen by himself. And yes - that was some of the smartest and shrewdest serving I can ever remember seeing.
Never seen such a thing. Such a comeback. 0-3 down. Saving 6 match points. And coming back from 5-9 down in the final set to win. This is historic.
'Never give up!' ...is the lesson here.
Every thing will happen when vs lin
4-9
Kuwait 2016, Mizutani vs Xu Xin. 3:3 and Mizutani leads 10:4, but Xu won 8 points in the row and won this match. But greatest comeback, imho, is Maze vs Hao Shuai.
@@dendav2441 1986 Asian Games Yoo Nam Kyu vs Jiang Jialiang.JJL was leading 18-10 in the last set.
Thats wow, what a match, what a fight back, U see this stuff rarely in decades.. Harimoto had so much of mental toughness that he fought and nullified 7 Championship point in a single set, down 3-0 , winning by 4-3, What a game
Very sad and heartbroken for LGY who once again showed his mental issues in important moments, I hope that he'll recover very quickly from this loss and that the Chinese team won't blame him too much for that 😞
Very happy for Harimoto who had been in a tough time for quite a while now, I hope this victory will give him a boost of confidence and will make him compete with the best Chinese again like in the good old days 🙏
LGY is so strong without mental problem for so sure.
Lin Gaoyuan will never play the olympics, after this game.
@@frederikvater, he most likely wouldn't have been allowed to, anyway. He not only lacks mental strength, but consistency in general. Still, I'm sad for him. These kind of defeats must hurt.
You beautifully summarised what a lot of people (including me) are thinking ❤️
lol "recover very quickly", dude he's been choking at critical moments like this for many many years. watch the other LGY videos and you'll see. he always chokes at the last moment. always. great consistency
Comeback of the year!!!
No, were you watching the game?! LGY beat himself.
Collapse of the decade
From 0-3 down to a 4-3 win, saved 6 matched points, what a comeback! Harimoto is simply UNBELIEVABLE in this match. Congrats for winning the championship!
I think Lin Gaoyuan was technically a bit stronger when Harimoto in this game but also quite a bit weaker mentally. Best of luck for both of them in the future. Some great points in this game!
Ma Long (dragon) is much better!
No word to say , lost is lost this is the fact , he has to introspect for himself , this lose will become his lifetime regret will cause him a heavy price for his future chance
Hate to be harsh but once a choker, always a choker ....this along with the Timo Boll match LGY will always be known for these big chokes ....sorry for him but facts
This wasn't the first time it happened, it happened before when he played against Timo Boll as well.
@@kokboonshin4850 no, this is a fact that lin was stronger techniclly and he had better shots but mentality is very important thing in this sport where are short sets. Mentality of lin was very weak becoause of comebacks and I whink long fast serves is not the problem to return for lin but he was stressed so that serves worked very very well
Harimoto has been suffering from slump for a long time. There are several reasons why he fell into such a situation. First of all, one of the major reasons is the excessive expectations from Japanese people. Next is the criticism from abroad for what he shouts during the match. He knew he was being criticized, but he felt hesitant and crying because he felt the fact that he would not be able to exert his true strength without it. However, he always remained polite on the court during such painful periods. As a fan of him, I am very pleased that the effort has finally taken shape.
Congratulations Harimoto!
I can't understand how can anyone be a fan of arrogance. This boy is too arrogant.
@@meeekle6656 screaming after every point he makes doesn't makes sense. Once in a while is ok. He just have to know he will never reach Ma long's level. NEVER
@@SATAN-2 Linも迷惑
@@meeekle6656 ..I did not say it was an insult. But you can't just scream all the time. If he makes a good point it's ok. But for him it's a habit. Even if his opponent hit the ball at the net he would scream . Anyway everyone has his opinion. I respect yours ,but even if ma long is not in his prime he is 1000000 times better than Harimoto. And added to that ma long is so humble despite being the best of all times
@@SATAN-2 Would you please stop commenting to evacuate him in the comments section here? I just wanted to congratulate you and his success. Despite the differences in countries, languages, likes and dislikes, I hope that more people will be able to congratulate successful athletes instead of making such comments.
I always get irritated by harimoto’s scream but this comeback win not only made me a fan of him, I now respect his heart and professionalism..never give up mentality
I am so proud of Harimoto. I even forgive him all his screaming. Bravo! Never give up.
Screaming really work, let start when you play.
@@882828jc 555
But this game Lin scream to loud too
@@bananaapple9698 Lin was forced to scream. I will scream too if my opponent screams all the time.
@@marxman1010 But it worked in Harimoto's favour. Lin is not a scream guy. Probably lost focus in final rounds bcoz of screaming.
Harimoto played not so good like Lin, but he won with his ambition, mentally, this final. Incredible.
The power of...believing in oneself, staying strong & never, never giving up in full display by Harimoto.👍👍👍
Kind of seemed more like Lin didn't believe in himself. Once he gets to 9-4, he doesn't put a single ball in play that isn't a serve until he's down match point.
Harimoto wasn't doing anything phenomenal, Lin seemingly just surrendered. Mentality is a skillset, too, but you never know when mental fortitude or weakness will creep up. Credit to Harimoto, you gotta show up, but the lesson I'd take from this is, "It's never too late for your opponent to blow a lead."
@@imightbebiased9311 ?
first timo boll second tomakazu harimoto LETS GOOOOOO !!
This is one of the best comebacks ever made!
Liu gaoyuan love to be comebacked
Great Harimoto! The victory at a final game of a final match after 0 - 3 against a Chinese player is just like a miracle and this experience will give him more confidence to himself and his future matches with Chinese players. Congratulations!! 🎊
This game was not really about Harimoto. He did well to stay in it, but was consistently outplayed. LGY choked twice, showing he cannot finish out a match. That was the story again here.
Cannot believe it. It happened to Lin again. He’s a such talented player. I wish China team give him another chance.
As bad as lgy choked, we have to credit Harimoto for superb playing in the last 3 games.
Lin Gaoyuan - The dark choker
@@frederikvater yeah, but this was 90 percent lgy being mentally weak as hell. losing 2 consecutive sets from fucking 10-5 and 9-5, utterly unbelievable. I can't imagine what will happen to him once he returns to China. China takes table tennis seriously and the Chinese Communist Party is ruthless. LGY just disparaged them on the international stage.
@@zr5438 so they will again send him to gulags yes?
if China gives him another chance he will be the hardest mental player ever, this experience will help a lot.
Great match by harimoto
Harimoto never quit. He was stronger mentally and saved some good serves coming back from 4-9 in the 7th game.
Incredible. Lin Gaoyuan’s form in the first three games was borderline invincible. Then somehow, out of literally nowhere, Harimito made the best comeback I have ever seen! Well deserved!
It’s unbelievable and commendable how harimoto could still manage to clinch the game after loosing point after point to LGY’s godlike backhand flicks
I am so happy for Harimoto !
He never gave up, just crazy how he managed to come back 🔥
Congrats Harimoto, amazing mental strength to save so many championship points to win the title. LGY still has long way to go to claim position with the GOATs ML and FZD
Don't think LGY has a long way to go. Too manys times of losses in critical matches even when he had great chances to win these mateches. His skills are good for sure, but obviouisly weak mentally. He is already 27 years old and hasn't proved himself for so many years. Don't think the Chinese TT team will give him more opportunities. Sigh for him...
@@piercejiang6602 Well...Dismissing Lin Gaoyuna is not as easy as it seems! Because girls are just crazy on him back in China! Even stone-hearted Chinese table tennis bureauctrates wouldn't dare!
@@takumyama Haha! I'm here in China. I've been follwoing the news about this final match and reading the comments below them these two days. Some fans are sorry for Lin Gaoyuan's loss and most fans are disappointed with his weak mentality, including female TT fans. They are literally driven CRAZY by his performance. When he was 3:0 ahead of Harimoto, we were beginning to regret callling him the nickname "Sister Lin", but after he lost the game with so much advantage against his oppoment, we decided that we were not mean to do so.
My goodness. What a comeback! Being 2 times in 1 step form the fail Harimoto managed to win the match!
amazing comeback 4 games in a row!
Lin Gaoyuan has something to improve his mental strength (like the game versus Timo Boll before)
Coach why wasn’t there a timeout?
@@jchhay007 Lin has taken the timeout already
@@pingsunday Thanks, did not see one from the highlights.
OH MY FUCKING GOD
This may be the first time I've shed a tear after watching a game. That was incredible, incredible, holy shit
Simply amazing and great for the sport!
Epic match that will be remembered forever.
Well done Harimoto on much deserved victory
Harimoto😅Wow, best game ever played by Harimoto! NO WAY! Congrats!!!!
That comeback was jaw dropping. LGY just can’t stomach having a lead, it’s like his stable quick game shatters to bits. The mental aspect for him is unfortunately nonexistent, it’s a shame for how well he’s playing. 3-0, 3-2 10-5, 3-3 9-4. Wow.
And on the other hand, what a mentality from Harimoto. Losing that deuce in the third game, I would be devastated. But he kept going for the backhand flicks and other risky shots.
Indeed, craziest comeback I've ever seen!
Amazing game
Lin Gaoyuan has always been my Favourite because his game I'd so strong and his Backhand is so beautiful to watch
he plays without any finess. topspin tempo from both wings.
@@Galimah
Oh but it seems to be working very well so doesn't really matter.
Many emotions while seeing the stamina in Harimoto: 0-3 and then saves six matchpoints. That's something not many players can really overcome! This is the version of Harimoto first a promise 5 years or so back. My sincere congratulations. I really enjoyed the match, simply astonishing! This is my new out of the dictionary definition of Determination!!! 👏👏👍👍
Just... wow...
I really feel sorry for Lin Gaoyuan. But still: great match!
Yes, so sorry...
One of the best comebacks in history and sadly for Lin Gaoyuan he's on the receiving side of it again. Harimoto held his nerve and got a huge win over the dark knight. Great match overall thoroughly enjoyed it.
It wasn't a "comeback", it was a choke from LGY. TWICE!
Once again, Lin fell down at the doorsteps of the triumphant gate. I think that Lin will have very tough time to mentally recover from this loss. It is even harder than the last time when he squandered 6 match points and lost a key match as well.
Lin’s techniques are super. His back hand is so strong and powerful. He just lost to himself today. It’s sad.
His style is based on speed which leads him to rush when he shouldn't
His backhand drive to the side line of the table is so so good.
No, he didn’t lose to himself, he lost to Harimoto lmao. Stop making dumb lame excuses lol.
Everyone criticizes Harimoto for his forehand but LGY forehand is terrible.High elbow and stiff swing,an error machine...
おめでとう張本!!
林はまたしても大逆転負けの経験をしてしまって悔しいところだけど、闘志をむき出しにした打ち合いは凄く痺れた。
名勝負だった!
Harimoto pulled off a Maze in a final, unbelievable.
Or LGY pulled off another LGY

tutuluu
We all love a comeback, this was a great one, in a final, fantastic game, well done Harimoto!
Wow .best match I have seen .Harimoto is back with full energy, skills and bit of luck .last year was not as good for him..but he is back this year.. good to see such tough matches.. both played equally well, seemed like Harimoto return on rallies open up lot of opportunities for his any opponent.. control and placement is good..but any ball coming in the middle of table was a problem for him. Once he adds speed to his rallies, he would be hard to beat .and lin's backhand was world class. Speed in the backhand return was giving lot of points.. wonder the difference of speed generated by this young generation of players vs a a calm and cool Zendong or Ma long.. sometimes it helps to give enough time to understand opponent's tactics.. instead of going in a frontier speed..
congratulations Tomokazu👊🔥
Harimoto has superior serve-receiving game.He won 15 points with his serve, not counting 3rd ball attacks.LGY's game is one dimensional.
All recent Chinese defeats were due to loopholes in the short game.
Incredible comeback! Such mental power.
Timo Boll would be proud of Harimoto, to avenge him in this event and to have such a comeback.
What a game, out of the world comeback fron Harimoto 🎉
Wow. Impressive performance by Harimoto, happy to see him win a big tournament again, especially against a LGY who looked to be on fire the last two weeks.
But man ... I'm feeling sorry for LGY. Losing after being 3:0 up, losing after having 6 match points. He most likely will never overcome his mental weakness and CTTA is going to invest energy in other players.
After over a year, this match still gives me great excitement. Great performance of Harimoto, and he was so brave and resistant during this match.
Very happy for Harimoto. Unbelievable! He needs to work on his FH rallies still.
I cant believe this...!!!
Well done Harimoto. Never give up , AMAZING come back against professional Chinese player .bravo Harimoto.
What a come back! Harimoto's techniques now is not as advanced as before, he used to stand as close to table as he can to use high speed to give his opponent pressure, his backhand techniques is top3, so his weekness of forehand can be well protected. Now while he is growing up, more muscles but also start to stand away from table, he is losing his speed but doesn't get his forehand really improved, from recent matches, he obviously cannot win in forehand rallys. This game, he wins not because his techniques is better than Lin gaoyuan, but his mental is stronger than opponent, congratulations to Harimoto but this victory won't change anything unless he really build a strong forehabd.
He's still close to the table
I think it's because Harimoto grew significantly, like a few inches. He has to adjust to the situation where his form, strength, and playstyle changes drastically.
No, Harimoto won because he is better, period.
God, these Chinese are so pathetic with their excuses lmao.
@@anthonyrocco5208 I mean Lin Gaoyuan's technique looks better than Harimoto's, but I doubt it makes a huge difference since Lin Gaoyuan has similar power to Harimoto
Wahnsinnsspiel!!!
Sorry for Lin and congratulations to Harimoto. He shows that never give up until last moment……. Well done 👍
One of the greatest comebacks of all time..take a bow Harimoto
Wat een ongelofelijke wedstrijd.
Schitterend, en wat een inzet en enthousiasme.
Ook wel een terechte winnaar, een zeer goede mentaliteit.
Vanuit een grote achterstand en dan zo terug komen.
Mijn zeer grote complimenten.
Dit was genieten!!!
What a match! Congratulations from China to Harimoto
Great match and strong mental! Lin seemed unbeattable in this championship... But Harimoto did it! Congratulations Harimoto-san! 💪Keep on playing this good and keep on shouting! Don't care about haters 👍
👍🎉🔥
Totally agree with every word you say. Can't wait to see a match up between Harimoto and Alexis Lebrun.👍🔥💥💪
This is the greatest comeback I have ever seen in table tennis! Remarkable!!🥶🤯😱
I still feel like Harimoto's forehand needs improvement to win the biggest titles. He clearly has the mind of a champion, though. Congratulations on this amazing victory.
Lin Gaoyuan is never seeing an olympics in his career
It hurts to know that you are capable of doing something yet you can't because of your own mindset
Speed, Power, Touch, Technique and Control of a World Champion, but the mental of a broken player. It's sad to see
No defense, poor consistency with his strokes, monotonous serving-receiving patterns, zero ability from mid distance.Doesn't seem like World Champion material just typical speed based Asian style with a lefty twist.
太精彩了,居然多次逆轉!
Brilliant and entertaining game of table tennis. Harimoto didn't give up and was always in the game. Congratulations to Harimoto. LGY played brilliantly too.
This is NOT the first time Lin has lost amidst of huge advantage. I remember in 2017 world cup semi final he also lost to Timo in a similar way 3:4, especially in the last game, he was once 10:4 or 9:4 ahead but eventually lost. Don't really know how a strong player like Lin who went thru countless struggles to reach to the Chinese national team would have such mental problems but sadly he does. Hope he could recover soon, he's 28 yo, not much time left for him to shine in the international games...
I think LGY has one of the most beautiful techniques in the game. That has to feel so devastating to loze like that. I was rooting for Hari the whole time though.
Woo.....😚😯😯 What an incredible comeback... Feeling sorry for Lin...😥 Anyway, best of luck to both the champions. That was a great final...👍
這事告訴我們,比賽沒到最後一刻,還不能斷定誰輸誰贏。
Ok, this has to be THE biggest upset.
I cant believe Harimoto came back from the dead.
And I cant believe Gaoyuan couldnt finalize any of those sets.
Thats just incredible
What a amazing patience by Harimoto! This is truly outstanding. He was under so much pressure and so many opponents championship- point, nonetheless he keept his cool! Well done!!!
lin gy is one of my favorites in the current tt scene , he has good fundamentals with a devastating crisp backhand. Its just sad that he breaks down under pressure, in the final set he couldn't even hold his bat properly. Anyway congratulation to harimoto , his future looks brightest among the young talents
What an epic game. Feel sorry for Lin but he has improved a lot in this tournament. Strong mental of Harimoto too. Well done to both.
There are few players who adapt their tactics from game to game in order to be able to win against a technically stronger player. the basis for this is intelligence and mental strength.
What a tournament! LGY, LJK, WCQ and Ma long all knocked out by foreigners!
what a great win for harimoto!
Comeback King of 2022! :) Congrats to Tomokarzu Harimoto
I remember when Lin was leading 3-2 set and 10-3 game against Boll. Lin lost that game too.
It's like LGY was subconsciously trying to lose
Possibly the greatest comeback of all time in Table Tennis

Congratulate Harimoto。Classic comeback in tabletennis history。
The mental strenght of Tomo is just unbelievable
Lin dominated but he was losing mental game. I guess too much pressure on him. Harimoto played really well and what a comeback
This game is a great lesson for warriors. Even a lion is vulnerable if he does not believe in his own strengths.
Just shows how important mental strength is in this level. When I saw the score 3-0 I thought it was over, man was I wrong.
Well played Hari. Congratulations.

It was a treat to see Franz kicking out Ma Long .. CCY kicking out LJK and after glorious donut which was shamelessly advertised which wasn't a surprise , Harimoto kicks out LGY in style in the last game .. I really wished the finals should be between Truls vs Harimoto .. LGY is just a machine no mental stability at important times ..
Unbelievable! 3 times stronger comeback!

This is truly truly something!!!
Incredible
I almost feel as sorry for Lin Gaoyan as all the viewers that had to watch this match SIDEWAYS.
Not sure why the camera is in the middle of the table. I find it hard to see the strokes properly. Much better to have it behind the players.
Thank you 😊💕💕😊😊
Poor Lin, chokes after chokes. It's even tougher when you already experienced something like it before. He needs to break through his own curse and than he could shine in China's top
