you did THE RIGHT THING when approaching that underpass.. you didn't "assume" that hmm "maybe i can squeeze it through just enough. I'll be good. " Some drivers out there will just go ahead and STILL TRY to squeeze through because they're afraid to call the police.
Good call John. I had a similar experience when I came upon a bridge height labeled 13'1''. I didn't call 911 but called the local PD and was on hold. While I was on hold I saw 2 other trucks go under the bridge so I hung up and moved forward and crept under it without incident. Not sure why the sign was so inaccurate.
It's like hitting the lottery getting good helpful serve and protect old school police officers. The police departments usually reflect the citizens I'm guessing it's a old school working class community. Good save catching the bridge height majority never look up just scan the at ground level. Safe travels and many get a copilot dog companion lowers anxiety.
Hey from one driver to another you did the right call but next time trip plan with Atlas book helpful tip don't always play your luck with gps tablet other than that just another day brother stay safe...
I've generally found the trucker atlas to be useless. It doesn't have enough detail down in cities and so it's frankly no better than a "trucker" GPS with old data. Sometimes construction and detours can really mess you up at the last mile. Good call on not just "sending it" and destroying the equipment and losing your job.
I had to call the police once for going down a wrong street (dead end and couldn't turn around). I felt very stupid but she was awesome!

Bulldog…you can thank me later!
dont use gps , find your own way, sometimes the gps way will be the same way then if u go again u might remember that
Use you're truck map. Don't depend on GPs only
You should of get a tape measure and measure the bridge
