You’re a genius, your trick with the quarters saved me. I was trying to open a partially used 5 gallon bucket of paint. I didn’t even know a bucket opener existed so I tried a screwdriver and pliers to no avail and your quarter trick worked like a charm. This 68-year-old woman with two bad shoulders was able to open that bucket right up thank you so much.
Yes indeed! It worked wonderfully well for me also. I also tried the very same things which didn't work at all but those quarters worked amazingly well. Who would have ever thought of such a thing? Thank you so much. You are wonderful!!!

The quarter trick worked like a charm--just went around the edges and pulled them up bit by bit until I could pull the whole lid off. Great video.

I have rheumatoid arthritis. So I've been googling about ways to open a paint can. I found there's already a heavy duty plastic paint can opener developed. I've not bought it online yet, so I'll try your method, Sir. Thank you.

Thank you. Instead of the quarters I was able to use a towel to grip the tabs. But I wasn't sure ripping the strip of plastic off was supposed to happen.

I am fascinated by the fact that the manufacturers of those backers have not been sued out of business. The one I was trying to open is a lot larger with heavier plastic... I am pretty technical, but I thought I was missing something, after I watched you video I saw there were no secret , that's what I was doing... I opened many paint or mud bracket without any problem, but that was something else. It is a dish washing liquid 5 gallon bracket. Since I play guitar and had no desire the damage my fingers I used a very large screwdriver to pry open. In any case I have never seen such a stupid and dangerous system specially considering how easy it would be to have a screw on lid.
Just wear gloves as that will prevent your hands getting cut or fingers. It’s a lot easier.

Tenía un bote de hace como 4 años de yeso ya vacío, y la verdad primero intenté con el martillo pegándole por la orilla según yo para aflojarlo y luego de tanto fracaso vi este vídeo, le puse el pie deje todo mi peso sobre la tapa y comencé aflojar las orillas con mis manos y después de hacer fuerza salió la tapa 😁😁😁 en menos de 5 min la tapa ya había salido.

Can you close this back up when you are done with product?
I bought 6 food grade buckets with lids and was only able to get one open. Took the plastic strip off. Used screwdrivers. Quarters. Even a full size crow bar. No luck. Ended up just throwing them out.

Wear gloves then and just pull with both fingers like he said. That way, it won’t hurt your fingers or hands. I tried flat head screwdriver and it SUCKS! Gloves is the solution.

Not all bucket lids have a pull strip and separate tabs. What do I do with them?
What if I do not have the hand strength to open lid. Is there a tool I can use?

The older 5 gallon buckets without all the skunk vomit notches were 10 times easier to open-- Had to be some scab that re-designed the buckets- Where Joe?

Volume too low
I just struggled opening this bucket for snow melt ice pellets and this is by far the WORST design. I hate this bucket so much I was cursing left and right. Use a glove to open both tabs as that’s easier.
