Hiya Stewart and Andy 😊 ,lts good to see you both being reasonable and sensible in your discussions on these topics,l often think of the feelings of safety and security that go with these campsites.l think the councils are wanting to stop people parking randomly and charging reasonably for any facilities provided. As you say its a growing community and would benefit from being in on discussions at the grass roots stages so that future needs can be met on both sides from the get go & both can benefit by subsequent improvements/ maintainence- in roads,number/types of parking bays, facilities specifically designed for the needs of this type of lifestyle. A reasonable tariff that could become a type of "norm" would enable one to know what funding you would expect to pay/donate as well as what conditions to expect& keep congenial relations all round. People might stay longer with added funds going to local businesses. Excuse my waffle, espically as l don't own such vehicles(but my younger sister did this with her husband around Australia for some time; and my elder one did it globally- but by yacht.) So l can see many advantages in this way of living😊,if l had better mobility ld love to experience this while the opportunity still exists today. Anyhow will come back to see how your compatriots feel on various aspects later.Keep well, safe and content always 👌 👍 🙏 julia,Brisbane ❤(pet your furry ones😅)Hugs.
That all makes sense. There is an organisation that is campaigning for aires called CAMpRA campra.org.uk/ that is trying to do something. Maybe we should all get behind them.
Soda, Pixie and Luna all petted.
Thanks
Omg thank you 😊 x
There tried of motorhomes and campervans up at sky and nc500 so putting on bigger prices will be great way to slow down the flow but then the local economy will feel it.
I'm not surprised the locals are getting fed up with the amount of tourists up in the Highlands. I wonder if the council just invented the NC500 without consulting the locals? Someone must be making some money out of it up there.
Thanks for watching and taking time to comment.
We don’t want tolls back again on Skye bridge it took a long campaign to get it scrapped.
As we said in the video, if there's a million tourists, where's the money going? Why do they need to tax just motorhomes?
Thanks for watching and letting us know about the previous toll - there has to be a better solution.
I think people are far too entitled, so the donation thing I absolutely agree with...I would feel guilty if I was essentially free-loading off a community
Camper van etiquette...I haven't thought about this, but it goes along with the above comment; if I bought a camper van, I would not want to be 'that guy' who doesn't use it or treat it properly, because you are representing other campers, and it's the ones that don't behave properly that the media and community will notice. Again, entitlement if you don't follow this philosophy.
Maybe people should be made to do a course for it, for a nominal fee of like £20 or something.
We would have certainly taken a course on how to travel in a motorhome. We've learned as we've gone along. But we've never parked illegally or inconsiderately or disposed of our toilet waste where we shouldn't. We try and support any town or village we visit. It's not rocket science is it?
Skye is getting the fallout from the NC500 due to it's location. We went to Skye instead of the western part of the NC500, so can see why it's Scotland's 2nd biggest tourist area. Strange how they're not trying to limit the number of motorhomes going on, just making more money...
Thanks for your continuing support.
Skye is overrated, its a waiting room to meet god.English residents, not very many locals. Not worth visiting more than once.
Really? We loved it! We'll certainly be back. Everyone has their own experience and opinion, sorry it wasn't great for you. Thanks for watching.
