from what i've heard you can potentially try the level 6 giga raids with 30+ people and still fail. afaik we also have not one good answer for gengar (aka dark or even ground types). i wonder what the hardcore raiders will bring for it... 3 level 50 greedents with bite and crunch? i still fail to see the point why i shoud even invest in dynamax at all.
You might fail, but that requires many people bringing unleveled Pokemon with no unlocked moves. Not an unlikely situation I guess. We did the first three GMax raids last weekend with 30+ people and absolutely dusted each one of them. Super easy, and I didn't even have to revive a single Pokemon. But then I have three Charizards at level 40 with all the max moves. Plus a Metagross and a Blastoise leveled as well. I warned people on our local discord that they needed actual counters, which stands to reason, but somehow people think a just caught ghastly is a thing? With planning and a modicum of strategy, these are doable by 12-16 trainers.
I did the gigantamax starters this week. About 150~ people showed up to our second day community meet up. These battles were no joke. We really struggled at ~15 people and even at a full 40 people lobby it was slow. There was no dodging mechanic so half the people would die and sit out about half way through. I did get a rare candy XL per battle tho.
@0:35, shortest Halloween event ever! =p As for costumes, eh, I keep shiny costumed stuff in case someone who cares about them wants one for trade, or if there's something *really* cute. I did a pair of gigantimax raids today when I was in Ottawa for other activities. Both went down easily with 40 people, but a couple of friends were in a 30ish person group and while they did win, it took a while. I got a Blastoise. Beat the charizard but then it just stood there staring at me menacingly. No rewards, no catch screen. Love buggy pokemon go. And what does small mean Dan? I remember an event where we had a chance to get rare XLs from transferring and I shipped off ~500 and got i think 1 rare candy XL. When they say small i believe them. -_- And SpiritTOMB like where you bury a person, not a bomb that explodes =p The only appeal of the ticket IMO is the 3x candy but eh, we're getting 2x for free anyway. And hopefully we can evolve these costumed pokemon. I have a good IV bulbasaur that is stuck like that because it has a hat. No venusaur for me.
When you bring the top hat noctowl with the GBL IVs as your closer and you win... It's a fun style flex. Gmax we just cotacted 3 different communities and only got 8 people to show up. We are going to have to get a group going for the entire western portion of our county... :D
Grinded Gigantamax this weekend pretty hard and they are HARD. The 10-40 is very accurate. Could maybe get a little lower, but need to prepare very well and use good strategy. 30-40 was easy, 20ish takes a bit of effort and anything less takes a good chunk of preparation and effort.
Gigantamax took about 30 people when I went this past weekend. My first group of 24 people failed on blastoise. Hard to say how lvl'd players dynamax pokemon are.
Regarding costumes, I’m usually just disappointed at how phoned-in most of them are. That crazy Gengar from years ago being a standout that I kinda wish I’d gotten. So if the IV’s are good, then I keep them. They are a *little* handy as a way to distinguish like-Pokémon without having to use the name (Niantic can you PLEASE give us a couple more characters? You allow it for Megas!)
I will just do as I normally do catch everything just bc of the stardust and the candy is a bonus if the mon gets relevant down the line, do I get a shiny cool another thing to traide for something that is actually usefull. I might see if I can get a good Greninja tho cuz these Ghost and Psycich team rockets take for ever some times so a Greninja with Night slash might be helpfull untill I get something better.
Witch hat pika is my favorite costume pika and it came out before I started playing so yes. I’ll be hunting pikas this event: the other costumes I couldn’t care less about
Personally I like some costume pokemon. I have a couple of costume Sableye's that look cool. I'm not sure how many useful ones I have, for GL I use a costume Ninetales that is rank 11 I think.

Also for the dynamax out of curiosity, I went to my downtown at noon today when most serious PVE people are out to see if anyone was doing the gyms. I stayed out for 45 minutes and nobody. I think the difficulty of these is formally out. I don’t see the benefit of these compared to the Megas yet other than to have them. I watched mystic7 and I have no desire to build multiple charizards and spend the dust on this.
Max Battles are NEVER going to succeed due to the difficulties. The only benefit of Costume Pokemon is the increased spawn rates but only if they can actually evolve and are good for GBL, otherwise I delete ALL of them.
I don't think even people that collect shinies really care about costumes. I like to collect some particular favorites like Miami Vice Absol but that's about it. Also eff these 40 people raids that they're doing to force people to use campfire.

i wish they woud give us legacy moves during such events, like hydro cannon for greninja and empoleon, and frenzy plant for decidueye.
evolve them in december 30 and 31 and you get legacy moves for both!

Some costume pokemon can evolve and other's can't. It is unclear when that is or isn't

They did this with the rare candy before in another event and if I recall right, essentially nobody got any if not 1-2 rares.

I just want spiritomb shiny ... im 19 encounters deep . Mind you thats 3 raids each. So still not alot but damn what id do for that shiny
