That probably isn’t happening. Indian laws, taxes and fees aren’t really sustainable for f1. They charge exorbitant fees for “entertainment fees”, according to the chief minister at the time, f1 is entertainment, not sport, so they charged a huge tax. F1 hasn’t paid it, and I honestly doubt they would. Sadly the issue is a financial one, not a viewership or a sport one.

If he manages to outperform the Alpha Tauri, should he get the drive in 2022, his presence might be the key to bringing F1 back to Buddh International (a very underrated circuit as well). Which shouldn't be impossible given how under control the pandemic is there compared to the UK and US.
Yeah I'd say Daruvala kind of has his fate in his own hands now. I can't see him winning F2 this year (Shwartzman seems too good) but a top 3 should be enough to show his pace. Many people aren't giving him a chance when as somebody else said, Mick Schumacher was also 12th in his 1st season (and with Prema)

I had fun rooting for Daruvala in the F2 midfield last year, keeping hold of 8th place and starting on reverse pole. The last few races were great to watch, serious title contender this year, but also lots of talent around him
F1 and Red bull probably doesn't even know at this point that how big a market India is. If Helmut Marko understands this, he will be keen on bringing Daruvala in Toro Rosso. And Daruvala is no backmarker, he'll do good, that means more fans more money.
I'm not one to back someone just off of the fact that they're of my nationality, I've known far too many Indians to do that. That being said, this kid seems pretty talented. I hope he hones them in time
He's far better then our average, narain Karthikeyan or karun chandok, he's finished third overall in F3 for prema racing, he's got speed and he did pretty well after the engine change in F2 last year, so I won't be surprised if he does well next year and move on the F1 in future, heck he might not stay with redbull which is a possibility
You've a got a good point but imagine being Jehan and getting to know that Indians won't support him unless he starts showing potential. Thats the biggest problem Indian football is facing ATM. Why should we support them, if they don't win. But we forget that India was basically Bangladesh before 1983 in cricket and look at where the support for cricket took us. Maybe we should learn from that and start supporting teams/people beforehand.

Jehan's first F2 win was his first win, not India's first win. At least not in the same way 1983 was India's first World Cup win. F1 does not run on a nation-against-nation, not in the same way most cricket leagues and tournaments work. There were Italian, German, British, Japanese and men and women of so many more nationalities behind that win, we can't just claim it all to be Indian, regardless of what anthems were played at the podium. It's just not a national effort the same way the Indian Cricket team is, it was a Carlin effort. Moreover, regardless of how much support we show for Jehan, F1 won't become popular here until some big shot elites start pushing it onto the public. The same way they did for cricket here, the same way they aren't doing it for football.
One biggest problem here is, if you take cricket even if it's under some political people, it's not directly under the government so it's able to generate lot of money, so even the state associations generate good money , so lot of opportunities are there for cricketers, so you don't need to play for national team but still earn decent money, but when coming to others sports it's either under the government or the association which runs it does not have money, so people hesitate to send their children for those sports, or even Olympics, so for F1 itself unless the government attitude change, motorsport will not be accepted as a sport in India, even the likes of hockey is very difficult in India.

There were a few Indian Grands Prix and the circuit was pretty damn good, unfortunately India consider motorsports as entertainment instead of sports so the FIA had to pay extra tax to hold the race there, so they left after 2013
We need a competitive driver like him to do good in order to get motorsport into limelight again and give it a second chance in a country where its image has been tainted with Mallya's Antics and Ignorance of the previous government's bureaucrats levying heavy taxes on Indian GP. Motorsport in India is prohibitively expensive. Sponsorship is almost non existent as the infrastructure isn't there. Amazed at how far he's gone on his motivation. Hope he spans a new gen of Indian Drivers willing to go into European Championships.
Though he may not have been the best of the drivers overall, he did very well and was consistent (mostly) thorughout his career. Would definitely love to see him in F1.... and win this yrs F2 title. Fingers crossed
Obviously it wouldn’t all have gone so smoothly had he started with a faultless engine BUT Daruvala scored 54 points in the last 5 rounds after his engine change and scored only 18 points prior to that. If he was scoring 54 points every 5 round for the whole season he’d have finished with 135 points, that tally would place him in p8 in the standings without even considering his making up of points taking points away from other drivers.
Daruvala and Ticktum are 2 of the biggest contenders this season, they will both obviously want f1 seats for next season and it’s likely that Ticktum will have a Williams seat in 2022, Daruvala will be looking to get the alpha tauri seat, so next season F1 could have some amazing young drivers
He is India's best bet till now. Someone who can not only reach F1 but be competitive on that level too. If he keeps on improving like this he will surely accomplish this dream.

One thing that ‘bothers’ me. One year ago Jehan was in European F3. His team was Prema(Italian) and his two teammates (Schwartzman and Armstrong) were Ferrari(Italian) academy drivers. During that season Prema had little problems. But Jehan was the only one who had major problems. Costing him precious points. Before the last race of the season, Schwartzman was nr 1 in the championship and Jehan nr2, and Armstrong was nr3. It took the last lap for Schwartzman that he got the last extra points for the ‘fastest lap’ which made Armostrong go above Jehan in the championship standings. Jehan ended 3rd just one point behind Armstrong, in the last lap of the last race of the season. You would think why does it matter if he ended 2nd or 3rd. Well, it’s because of the Fia Superlicense points. Drivers need 40 of them in a 3-year period to have a license to compete in F1. That last lap of Schwartzman made Jehan 3rd in the standings and cost him 10(!!) superlicense points. That last race was very suspicious to me. The problems Jehan had, and the fact that the entire F1 Ferrari entourage was present at the last race to support their two drivers(Jehan’s teammates). I’m just curious to know if politics were played that season(or last race). Because at that time Jehan was not yet a Red Bull junior driver and certainly not a Ferrari academy driver like Schwartzman and Armstrong. Luckily though, he won some points because he became 3rd in the Fia Asia F3 championship a few weeks ago. This season he has to end top 5 in F2. It’s all or nothing for him. Though I always think Arjun Maini was the better driver. He won one of the most spectacular races in GP3 in Catalunya. Sadly he focuses on endurance racing now.
Jehan daruwala is doing very good in F2. With vips being racist and Liam being a driver who is screwing his races and gasly and yuki being retained by Toro Rosso. Daruwala be can only be the reserve driver for a team like Williams or hass or Alpha or Romeo. It looks like he is going to get a seat at formula e or some other racing series. There are talks that he had already been approached by haas f1 earlier and now he has been in talks with McLaren formula e team and Mahindra racing where he can replace Alexander sims. I would be extremely happy to see Jehan winning in either F1 or formula e.

I'm not one to back someone just off of the fact that they're of my nationality, I've known far too many Indians to do that. That being said, this kid seems pretty talented. I hope he hones them in time
He's far better then our average, narain Karthikeyan or karun chandok, he's finished third overall in F3 for prema racing, he's got speed and he did pretty well after the engine change in F2 last year, so I won't be surprised if he does well next year and move on the F1 in future, heck he might not stay with redbull which is a possibility
You've a got a good point but imagine being Jehan and getting to know that Indians won't support him unless he starts showing potential. Thats the biggest problem Indian football is facing ATM. Why should we support them, if they don't win. But we forget that India was basically Bangladesh before 1983 in cricket and look at where the support for cricket took us. Maybe we should learn from that and start supporting teams/people beforehand.
@@AbhishekPatelab9 You make interesting points yourself, but I feel there's something fundamentally wrong with that argument. I feel cricket and F1 are not the same, not by a long shot. Jehan's first F2 win was his first win, not India's first win. At least not in the same way 1983 was India's first World Cup win. F1 does not run on a nation-against-nation, not in the same way most cricket leagues and tournaments work. There were Italian, German, British, Japanese and men and women of so many more nationalities behind that win, we can't just claim it all to be Indian, regardless of what anthems were played at the podium. It's just not a national effort the same way the Indian Cricket team is, it was a Carlin effort.
Moreover, regardless of how much support we show for Jehan, F1 won't become popular here until some big shot elites start pushing it onto the public. The same way they did for cricket here, the same way they aren't doing it for football.
One biggest problem here is, if you take cricket even if it's under some political people, it's not directly under the government so it's able to generate lot of money, so even the state associations generate good money , so lot of opportunities are there for cricketers, so you don't need to play for national team but still earn decent money, but when coming to others sports it's either under the government or the association which runs it does not have money, so people hesitate to send their children for those sports, or even Olympics, so for F1 itself unless the government attitude change, motorsport will not be accepted as a sport in India, even the likes of hockey is very difficult in India.

But still I hold the opinion that we may love other drivers, if we wish to see more F1 in India and more India in F1, we gotta start supporting regardless of talent or likeability. There were a few Indian Grands Prix and the circuit was pretty damn good, unfortunately India consider motorsports as entertainment instead of sports so the FIA had to pay extra tax to hold the race there, so they left after 2013

Motorsport in India is prohibitively expensive. Sponsorship is almost non existent as the infrastructure isn't there. Amazed at how far he's gone on his motivation. Hope he spans a new gen of Indian Drivers willing to go into European Championships.

Obviously it wouldn’t all have gone so smoothly had he started with a faultless engine BUT Daruvala scored 54 points in the last 5 rounds after his engine change and scored only 18 points prior to that. If he was scoring 54 points every 5 round for the whole season he’d have finished with 135 points, that tally would place him in p8 in the standings without even considering his making up of points taking points away from other drivers.

Daruvala and Ticktum are 2 of the biggest contenders this season, they will both obviously want f1 seats for next season and it’s likely that Ticktum will have a Williams seat in 2022, Daruvala will be looking to get the alpha tauri seat, so next season F1 could have some amazing young drivers

One thing that ‘bothers’ me. One year ago Jehan was in European F3. His team was Prema(Italian) and his two teammates (Schwartzman and Armstrong) were Ferrari(Italian) academy drivers.
During that season Prema had little problems. But Jehan was the only one who had major problems. Costing him precious points.
Before the last race of the season, Schwartzman was nr 1 in the championship and Jehan nr2, and Armstrong was nr3. It took the last lap for Schwartzman that he got the last extra points for the ‘fastest lap’ which made Armostrong go above Jehan in the championship standings. Jehan ended 3rd just one point behind Armstrong, in the last lap of the last race of the season.
You would think why does it matter if he ended 2nd or 3rd. Well, it’s because of the Fia Superlicense points. Drivers need 40 of them in a 3-year period to have a license to compete in F1. That last lap of Schwartzman made Jehan 3rd in the standings and cost him 10(!!) superlicense points.
That last race was very suspicious to me. The problems Jehan had, and the fact that the entire F1 Ferrari entourage was present at the last race to support their two drivers(Jehan’s teammates).
I’m just curious to know if politics were played that season(or last race). Because at that time Jehan was not yet a Red Bull junior driver and certainly not a Ferrari academy driver like Schwartzman and Armstrong. Luckily though, he won some points because he became 3rd in the Fia Asia F3 championship a few weeks ago. This season he has to end top 5 in F2. It’s all or nothing for him. Though I always think Arjun Maini was the better driver. He won one of the most spectacular races in GP3 in Catalunya. Sadly he focuses on endurance racing now.

Jehan daruwala is doing very good in F2. With vips being racist and Liam being a driver who is screwing his races and gasly and yuki being retained by Toro Rosso. Daruwala be can only be the reserve driver for a team like Williams or hass or Alpha or Romeo. It looks like he is going to get a seat at formula e or some other racing series. There are talks that he had already been approached by haas f1 earlier and now he has been in talks with McLaren formula e team and Mahindra racing where he can replace Alexander sims. I would be extremely happy to see Jehan winning in either F1 or formula e.

We really could do with another team or two and defitenly some more engine suppliers back in F1, I suppose this is unlikely due to Financial Reasons as well as Formula E and other Sports Events really etc...

Moreover for any sport to become popular in a country, the majority of the population should find it affordable and accessible, cricket can be played virtually anywhere. F1 cannot.
