What timing, I checked the channel to see if anything new was up and I caught this video just 39 seconds after you posted it. Glad to see the Glenfield 65 and the screwdriver set both arrived okay. I enjoy this channel so much I decided to send you this rifle for all your subscribers to enjoy. I felt it would be a good addition to all of the recent Marlin/Glenfield videos. I hope the screwdriver set is a help to you on your many tasks and projects. Just my way of giving a little something back to the channel I enjoy so much.
Yes indeed. Friends are hard to come by, especially ones like Wayne. He has become an important part of this channel, but most of all a true companion. I am fortunate to know him.
Thanks Wayne, for your generous gift, it brought back memories of years gone by. I still have some Winchester Super X’s in 50 rd boxes that I bought from Otasco in 1983.
late to the firearm game (43) and will be purchasing my first .22 rifle... a Ruger 10/22 with a scope tomorrow. Truly enjoying your videos. Cant wait to practice up and get out there for some late season squirrel.
I hope you have lots of fun and success with your Ruger 10/22. Those little Rugers are great rifles. I should do a review with one. Maybe I can find an older one with a walnut stock.
My dad, who had fought the Japanese on Attu, had an old Remington 552, and had devised a simple procedure to zero it with a single shot. First, he set up a solid white target at the selected distance. Then, he secured the rifle with clamps to a solid picnic table he had built. Then he fired one shot into the target and adjusted sights and scopes to that one strike. Our target practice was from that table, or the kitchen table out the back door. The targets from the kitchen were clothes pins on the line. Per Mom, we were not allowed to aim at the clothes line itself. We never cut it, and learned not to miss a clothes pin.
Another good video on 22 rifles my personal favorite especially the older ones, thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your family, looking forward to the next one.
I enjoy watching your channel you do a great job. Those wheeler kits are very important to keep your bolts and screws in great shape. I purchased a small outters set and it work amazing giving me confidence and a secure lockup on the screws or bolts I'm working with.
I used a piece of masking tape across the barrel in front of the point of the rear sight and drew a pencil line strait from the point outward, toward the muzzle end to gauge how much I drifted the sight. It's not always necessary but it helps see the amount of drift.
Nice timing! Just handed down my dads 522 Remington Viper to my son for Christmas today. Will be sighting it in this week. You might hear us down the road!
As a side note I always tap my scopes with an empty ctg. case to help settle everything inside. As you know this was common practice at least 50 years ago. Good video.
I had the Marlin Glenfield 65 most accurate gun i ever owned. I could hit the bull with open sights just as easy as i could with the 4-7x 32 scope. Left it with my cousin when i moved to TX by bus and it was stolen by his brother and friend !!! I dearly miss that gun plus only a couple of people I have mentioned it to ever heard of one!!!
Great Video , glad to see you posted again. I always look forward to watching. Good shooting old marlin and a very gracious Friend as well !! I picked up an old model 25 and I have the rear sight all the way down and it still shoots high ....any ideas and you have a Merry Christmas and thanks for the new video!!
If you can find a taller front sight to fit your gun, that would probably be the ticket. Also make sure the barrel isn't bent upwards. If it is, don't worry because have straightened barrels in the past, and those guns shoot very well. Thanks for the nice comments. Happy Holidays.
@@CumberlandOutdoorsman yes sir. I believe a lot of marlin model 60 owners and other variants would be interested also. The glennfield model 75 I have is great shape. But I know it’s inevitable and will need replaced at some point. I figured out about the marlin 39a firing pin. I didn’t know it was so simple and just fell out and in to place.
@@CumberlandOutdoorsman I like the comparison videos as well. I have the hunter mark iv and love it. The 41 I’ll acquire one day. For the money the mark iv hunter is hard to beat.
Just a note about scope adjustment. The "up" and "down" directions marked on the the scope adjustment rings refer to the direction to move the "point of impact" not the crosshairs. (At least this is the case for all of the scopes I've worked with.) Thanks.
Quick question not related to the video... Are groundhogs good to eat? Ive never had any on my property until just the last year and now ive seen several. They are mostly in the back if the property and not causing any damage around the house like ive heard they'll do, so i havent shot em. If they make good table fair i just might take a couple. I assume they are kinda like squirrel or rabbit but dont know for sure. If i start seeing too many ill cull em back. I just prefer to do something useful with the carcus of any animal i kill. Except for possums and armadillos! Yuck! I want nothing to do with any part of those nasty critters! LOL
I have heard of folks cooking and eating ground hogs. Actually if you think about it, there's no reason not to consume the meat because they feed on vegetation. I heard they are a bit on the greasy side.
Hi. I have a Glenfield marlin mod 60. Its a 18 round but in california it is illegal for it to be 18 rounds. Does anyone know how I can make it into 10 rounds ? Thank you for your time
If you can take the mag tube apart you can put a piece of solid brass rod in the spring equsl in lenght of the number of rounds you cannot have this has to sit on the top of the follower and prevents the mag tube being secured if you try to put more rounds in than allowed.
That will work as well because brass is softer than steel. Only problem is you need a way of holding your rifle while doing it this way because you will need both hands to hold the drift pin and hammer. That's why I use a soft mallet. There are also brass mallets available.
@@CumberlandOutdoorsman I ALWAYS JUST LAY THE RIFLE ON A TABLE AND USE THE DRIFT PIN AND HAMMER - TOO MANY FOLKS OUT THERE DO NOT HAVE A SOFT HAMMER AND WILL GO AT THEIR GUNS WITH A CLAW HAMMER - THANKS, GOOD VIDEO, HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

You picked fine rifle for anything you want to do, I found that the c c I 22 bullets is the best.
Gotta love a tube fed .22!👍Top shelf scope rings for a drop dead gorgeous rifle. Great sight in tutorial. Thanks.
I really enjoy your videos ! Very informative love the old 22 rifles.

Those are "hollow ground screwdrivers." Very nice. Won't damage the screws.

Hi Adam, I hope you guys have a great time with that Remington.
I remember Otasco, I always loved the smell of that store.
Apologies. My earlier comment was written before I watched the rest of the video where you clarified your adjustment instructions.
No problem at all, I actually welcome any suggestions, just in case I may have missed something. Thanks for your support.
GREAT INFO. THANK YOU SIR MERRY CHRISTMAS
You are quite welcome.
Cool . I have those same two rifles. These and a mossberg chuckster. 22 Mag and it's all I could ever want in rimfires.
That's nice. I've heard good things about Mossberg Chuckster rifles. If I run across one I'll post a video review.
Was hoping all was well with you, look forward to each post. Great video.
Thanks for your thoughts, and comments.
Was wondering when would get a you tube fix. Excellent again Thanks
I would like to post two videos each week, but work, and family activities take up alot of time.
Definitely understand I just wanted you to know how good and informative your videos are. Thanks again.

That is some beautiful wood on that Remington! Is it original?
It is an original Remington walnut stock. Thanks for the compliment.

file down that notch or find another elevater with a lower notch
triangular file
Awesome video I love the way you explain everything especially the dials on the scope.😊
Good video buddy. Still would like to have that 551.

Why do you start sighting the scope in at 35 yards only to redo it at 50 yards? Thank you for the informative video! I subbed!
The closer sight-in is to ensure that you’re on the longer range target.
Thanks for sharing 👌
Did you hold over any for the 50 yard shots. From the 20 yard sight in
C
an you provide the part number for those Redfield scope mount rings. Thanks
I was going to ask you what do you think about the federal punch ammo for 22?

That's exactly right. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I would like to find one of those to go with my Glenfield Model 60.
Check out the Canadian Cooley .22 for more brass feeder tubes.
Would be extremely difficult to get a round into a solid brass rod.
Do you set you scope at maximum mag when your zero the scope

I believe that I have a very similar with squirrel stock
What did you do to your 581 Remington to make it accurate
That Remington 581 is pretty much bone stock except for the Tru-Oil finish on the stock. Remington 581's are just good shooters from the factory.
Love the show and good huntin

i think if you check they grandfathered in a bunch of the tube feed ones its the detachable mags they wanted to stop
If you can take the mag tube apart you can put a piece of solid brass rod in the spring equsl in lenght of the number of rounds you cannot have this has to sit on the top of the follower and prevents the mag tube being secured if you try to put more rounds in than allowed.
Nice
I need a new set of screwdrivers.
I would smoke my rear sight, like glare b gone
BUSHNELL MOUNTS ARE FINE FOR THAT RIFLE.
Ok, they might be just fine, but I had a better set of mounts and thought the upgrade to my 581 would be real nice.

BETTER TO MOVE THE BACK SIGHT WITH A BRASS DRIFT PIN AND A HAMMER.
