Great idea Marty. Thank you. I did something similar. Mine holds the car in place. I used a thin sheet of plastic about an inch larger than a car in both directions and affixed the scrub pad to one end. On the other end I cut a rectangular hole for the guide flag n pickups. It can be plopped down in pit lane or on a separate piece of track like yours. I like your videos they’re very helpful.
Marty- I have a station just like you have shown. However, for digital (at least Carrera) if I put my Carrera digital on my station , it doesn't run, but if I take it off, put it on, it doesn't run, but it works every time when I put it on for the third time. I have no idea how that circuitry works, but the third time is a charm - everytime!!!!! I would like someone to explain that. No changing of the switch required. When put back on the track, it jerks - no controller involved. Then all is back to normal. ?????
You may have hit on something here, the Carrera cars have a "bump three times" to switch from digital to analogue mode, Slot Car News has a video about this. Marty this could solve the digital issue completely :)
Great video Marty! Love the both the track setup as well as the streaming production!! For clarification, you are using Simple Green to clean silicone tires here? Iirc, I saw in another of your videos that you are using mostly silicone tires on your track. I am new to the hobby and have only run stock rubber tires up to this point but I just received my first order of silicones and I'm ready to make the swap. I know that cleaning protocols vary depending on the type of tire and I want to make sure that I'm getting that right. This would also be cool because I already happen to have a bottle of Simple Green on hand! Thanks- Big Dilla
So.. silicone tires are pretty easy.. but will pick up every bit of dirt on the track.. super tires recommend simple green, windex, lighter fluid and good ole spit. 😂 Thanks for the kind words and for joining the livestream! There are some tire treatments for stock rubber.. 3in1 oil, marvel mystery oil… soak tires for 30min.. then clean with lighter fluid. They will hook up.
@@twolinesslotcars I think I may have mentioned before, but I bought a pair of 9-24vdc transformers, one on each lane. I should have bought a 3rd to run a tire cleaner/grinder like you discuss. Apparently you can never have enough power supplies in this hobby!
Hi Richard here I'm new to slot car racing I'm currently converting my shed to accommodate a lay out 5m x 2.3m do you know of any software or app for designing a layout thank you
lol, I am so mad at myself for not doing this sooner.. but it does creat the habit of when you are or acting in about every 20 laps.. doing a quick pit stop just to clean your tires lol.. spoiled with those clean tire lap times 😂
Yes.. you just have to understand that it builds up heat pretty quick so you have to go slow.. and it is tough on the motor.. but for a quick touch up.. works well..
@@twolinesslotcars Thanks man. Awesome content and an idea that I am implementing immediately! Currently I have a secondary digital Carrera CPU and piece of track to do this on an adjacent table. I will experiment as to whether wiring single track directly in a power tap to my main track allows digital coded cars to run on this adjacent separate stand alone cleaning station track. If you hear any tech about this let us know.

Great tip! it makes cleaning tires so quick and easy
Marty- Really like the new studio look , with the track behind you! And thanks for the tip!
Thanks Clint!
Great idea for use of my analog power station. Definitely like seeing track behind you.
Thanks Eric.. so moving the studio was good choice?
Nice, simple idea, Marty. Thanks!
Glad you like it!
Love that idea Marty 👍
Definitely do that.
Absolutely
Thanks 👍, I will
You could even put an inline toggle on/off switch once it's wired to the track. Have a great Friday Marty!
true!
I used a single lane for mine so it could tuck between shoulder pieces and be directly next to the track. Then just a short jumper wire over to it.
That is my plan, cut the track piece in half, since it is already a junk piece. Then I would have two stations around the track.
Great tip Marty, Thanks for sharing
You are very welcome

Great idea Marty :)
Dave... it is not your quick stop tape version... but it isn't a bad use of a junk piece of track ;)
@@twolinesslotcars I'm still thinking about the "rolling road" version with a lint roller though :) Too many ideas not enough time!

great idea

Yes it does! But I get tired of buying them 😂

Maybe Get a cheap variable transformer from Amazon and use it for your trackside cleaners.
I am considering that Tom!
