  • Drone reel! On the last day of our Big Bear/Lucerne Valley trip, we went for a cruise around the Cougar Buttes area. Kristen drove the truck so I could fly the Navi the drone. It was her first time driving fast-ish on rough surface, and as the video shows she loved it! ;)

Nice drone shots! You got stones flying that under power lines!

Running sway bars at all? Or I guess I should ask on your old setup. Second question what did you factor in to do long travel instead of sas? Been into the rock crawling scene for a long time. As mentioned in another video I started over with a 2000 4runner. I’d love to sas it but I want to push the ifs and find its limits. I may not have to sas. I’ve ran rubicon trail pretty much every year for the marlin crawler roundup in sept. And did trips to fordyce as well. I think this rig will only be on 33s for a while though..

Jake P I’m running only a rear sway bar now, since I have the front LT. I had front and rear before with BTF QuickLinks so I could disconnect and reconnect easily. I was torn between a SAS and LT too for a long time. But in the end I decided that unless I was gonna do a full buggy build with it then the SAS was just giving up way too much for what you get. I have no regrets with my long travel setup. In fact the front end ground clearance is a huge advantage in the rock gardens. With 5.29s and lockers I go anywhere the solid axle trucks do, just more comfortably. Also I can cruise fast thru the desert on the approach trails and have a whole other type of fun. Feels like a racetruck... there are a lot of advantages to an IFS crawler, I would definitely recommend it on our trucks 👍🏼

Hopefully the future of my 4runner looks alot like yours! Exactly what I want to do. Is that addicted offroad armor? Also, what tire carrier do you have? I dont feel like spending 600+ on a wilco or 1000+ on a bumper with a swingout haha. Thanks!

Jacob Sams thanks man we’re really happy with how the truck turned out. Yes it is Addicted, definitely good stuff. We don’t have a rear tire carrier right now, but I had a homemade one that went into the hitch for a while. Gonna get some help fabricating one onto the bumper in the near future...

Have you upgraded the radiator or is it stock?

Levi Monsen it’s not stock but technically not upgraded either. Got a 2.4L Tacoma radiator so it doesn’t hang below the frame rails

What’s the highest speed you have hit and still feel comfortable? Been starting my research for the same setup

Jarrand Billings I passed someone at around 85 for a second I think, felt fine. Road manners are not sacrificed with long travel at all, if anything it’s improved. Except for the lack of a front swaybar

Dang, sorry man shoulda read it.. Hey my property is just on the other side of those hills between cougar Buttes and rabbit springs rd. Pretty much endless off roading in that neck of the wood eh. I dig the off road and exploring with mild rock crawling, my brother is more into harder core rock crawlin. Cougar buttes look awesome in that video, I knew they looked familiar man.
