I have a 3-yr-old Acer laptop, and 3 various sized monitors that I got from Goodwill. The monitors were less than $10 each. One has a scratch in the upper right corner. This whole setup cost me about $300. And I think it is delightful.
Ross: Here's my Home Day Trading setup from the past as well as the present. Also Ross: (still finds a way to use the whiteboard in this episode) Love the videos, Ross. You're the best! Keep being you.
Don't need soo many computers or even screens . If you don't care about the electricity bill and you are computer savvy , you can easily make happen with old Xeon server cpu's + Nvidia 2000 series gpu's and Proxmox .All this is possible for around $1000 or cheaper + the cost of two or three stacked ultra wide monitors. All you really need is very fast internet
The video from last week in van with your life story i didnt get a chance to comment. It was inspirational and a great video to know you better. Awesome content. 😊🎉
Since I'm still new to the day trading journey (about 2 months in at the moment), I am currently using an old personal Surface Pro 7 with i7/16/256 specs with a Surface Dock 2 along with an LG 35BN75C-B and a Samsung LF24T452FQNXGO. Of that equipment, I only purchased the Surface Pro 7 and the Surface Dock 2 as the displays were provided by my last two employers for work from home purposes (no longer working for those two companies). So I have 3 total monitors with the 35inch LG showing my Active Trader Pro configuration and the Surface and Samsung displays showing whatever else I may be looking at during my trading period.
studied for years, failed a lot during my early days, but I was unable to successful trade at my real life office job. Well I am at home now and I am starting again just because of watching Ross. Only $300 account, but I think this time I will succeed now.
Good morning Ross, Thanks for this GREAT training. Best of the best for me. Question, when buying with TOS Hot keys, are using Stop loss, or how do you stop when the trade going against you?
He doesn’t use a stop loss. Uses his hot keys. His thinking is that fights against stop loss hunting since institutional traders can actually see our market orders in real time
Hey Ross, At 14:33 you showed that you have 4 stocks open on your trading software level 2 data open along with the corresponding order entry window with time and sales. My question is.. If you set up Hot Keys for this software. When you click Shift 1 to buy 1,000 shares. How does it know which stock you'd like to buy When 4 are open together?
My Alienware X17 has been excellent as a trading station. However, it has extremely loud fans when processing requirements pick up. As for monitors, I reduced to just three total (which allows me to chart 3 stocks max). Too many tickers up at once was distracting and causing me to miss entries on the 1-3 best stocks where my attention should have been focused. As for mounts, “Mount-It!” has a triple monitor mount that I bought two of and was actually able to mount SIX monitors onto the single mounting stand it comes with. It was amazing for the times I wanted more than three monitors on my desk
current WP student here. Love the extra youtube content. Not very tech savvy and would greatly appreciate if you could give a breakdown of how to set up the external power supply and how your internet modems are linked. im currently on wifi. Thanks again Ross for the informative lessons.
Two monitors with a good graphic card is a good start. Get a laptop hub ( docking station ) with two HDMI ports, use your laptop like main and the two monitors. Use a high speed USB C patch cable.
If you just purchase a computer dock you can plug 3 to 4 monitors into it and only uses one usb-c cable from the dock to connect to your laptop. It also has usb ports that you can connect eternal peripherals if needed.
I'm in the UK and work full time. My only option is a phone because 7am EST is 12pm GMT so half way through my work day. Hoping to make it work to the point I have enough to get a set up at home and take the leap to going full time
I do this on my phone… thinking about getting a laptop and start learning on that… this is way more than I could do today. I would like to the charts better in the screen though.
The plan is to switch/ learn another broker on the laptop, so it’s all at once. I’m not very computer savvy, so I’m hoping I actually do it once I buy it. I tend to “do what’s already comfortable” until it’s not anymore. Lol
@@aka__maza2574 I’ll have to check into what that is. I like the idea of more screen. This old dude already is disadvantaged not being very tech savvy. Figure apple matches the phone and those things I’m ahead kinda used to.
If you are just starting and want to know how many monitors you need, you should be able to see everything without moving your head, so the short answer is 1 monitor until you know that you need more. And no, you’re not doing this on your phone, unless you just want to play around.
Have you ever thought about getting a few large 4k televisions and mounting them instead of that many small monitors? Wondering what your thoughts are there because I’m considering it myself. Is there an advantage to having more smaller screens vs just 1 or 2 larger 4k ones? (4x1080p = 1x4k).
I've looked into it in the past, but never pulled the trigger because it's fairly expensive to get the right TV so text is clear. You need one that is chroma 4:4:4 which gives you clear text. You also need to be able to bypass the TV processor and use the GPU on your computer system. Usually if the TV has a "game mode" setting , that will allow you to bypass the built-in GPU and use your own GPU that is part of your computer setup.
I watched your $280,000 on the road set-up and I have been looking at the laptop you have been using. The Falcon F-30 trading lap-top. The question I have is did you decide to run with 32 GB of memory or 64GB?
Hello, i just started watching your videos. Currently trying to get a station set up using what I have. Can a tablet be used in place of lap top short term?
We wouldn't recommend trading on a tablet because you won't have the tools like scanners, charts etc available to you. We suggest trading on a gaming computer with at least one separate monitor.
I have a big question: why do you use a 10s chart if you operate intraday? Even scalpers don't really use it, it's interesting seeing you using it. It would be nice to know what is the main reason
I'm interested in giving that 2-week trial a shot, but for now, I only have a MacBook and not a Windows PC or laptop. I'm curious if everything will still function properly, or if I should hold off until I have a Windows device.
The Warrior charts scanners live stream ect will all work fine on a mac but it depends on if you have a specific trading software that you will be using on a mac www.warriortrading.com/pro-preview-trial/
I am putting together a system using a mini pc with an oculink port and an external gpu. Depending on the video card used you can power up to 6 monitors. Lenovo is supposed to release laptops with oculink this Xmas season--already available in China.
Daily charts to check 2oo ma, ema as that is a significant level of resistance or support depending on where the price is, above or below. 1 minute chart is the standard most everyone follows and is the primary chart in most scenarios and of course it's used for watching patterns etc 5 minute charts also shows patterns we look for and are very common The 10 second chart is an in depth view of a minute chart basically and allows us to see micro pullbacks which are used to enter a faster moving stock where a traditional pullback on the 1 minute chart is not always apparent. Being able to see all of these time frames simultaneously gives a full picture into what's happened, what's currently happening and what we think is likely to happen.. Hope that helps.
They are sufficient to run. More a plus when they allow multiple monitors to be connected without additional usb/hdmi adapters , like the Intel NUC12 (4 monitors)
Pretty much all software has system recommendations. Computers don’t have to be as powerful as some people think. If all you have is a laptop then it’s probably good enough. I’d just get 1 big superwide monitor and plug it into the laptop. I like the Aopen 34hc5cur. It’s a huge monitor for $250.
