Lad, get someone from Dublin to show you pubs if youre ever in Dublin again. Bowes is for the posh boys that work in the Irish Times. You were 2 minutes from Mulligans. A pub where fathers have brought their sons for their first official pint for generations. Reputed to have the best pint in Ireland and thats down to the bar staff who have more charisma than there are pints in a keg. You couldve walked to McNeills a solid working class place where real touring trad musicians from the city centre sit down and play. Anything you couldnt get off the bar staff in terms of content youd get from the lads playing for fun in the bar.
And I mean, it's not as if the lads from the times would drink in a press pub - RIP Richard, one of the last of the old time Irish Press lads who was in Mulligans pretty much every day
😂😂😂 the best line of the whole video was the bar dude at noctas saying ya could have 250 people in that room and 250 people out there ..on a good funeral like 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That's because Irish funerals really are a celebration of the deceased's life. You get the sad part over with in the church and then get some food and have a session in the pub. That is, of course, if it wasn't a particularly tragic death.
Who's gonna tell Wendall there's no 'r' in 'Sláinte' 😂Anyway, Bowes is one of my favourites too! I also really like Palace Bar tbh. I know you guys weren't as keen but I've had many a good night in that place. Maybe it was an off day. Enjoyed the video! Looking forward to the next one 👍
Does the other lad just pretend to know what he's talking about all the time? The confidence in how he incorrectly pronounces Padraig and talks about the 'Irish uprising' is astounding.
Padraig Pearce born in 1916??? Lived till 2016! Young fella to lead a revolution eh? G'wan Pad-ray-ge! Imagine if there was a Siobhan, Siadbh, Tadhg or Fionnula in the house 😄
He's an English man trying to show an interest in Irish history. Who cares if he mispronounces 'Padraig'. I'd wager most Irish people know little to nothing about English history.
Gravediggers used to be my local. The Guinea Grill does a great pint of the black stuff in London, and get a wee plate of lamb chops, job done. Love the channel guys. 🙂👌🏻🍻

Great post as always, as a Brummie I’ve only been to Dublin once and it was superb if not a bit expensive. Cold, gale force wind, rain, a thing of beauty. Achieved my personal best of 11 pints of Guinness over a long day, in a mix of tourist pubs and some gritty ones definitely better over there. Did Westport after which was beautiful
Thought you'd be a bit more clued up about the boozers and areas you went too. Very funny. Recommend the Liberty Belle. Had a superb meat raffle!, me and the missus had a cracking night with the locals (everyone was pissed as fcuk!) Am done with Temple Bar now and moving out of the centre. Most places are fine as long as you're clued up, like anywhere really.
As I live in Dublin now, I would advise you not to. What the lads aren't going into is the city centre is a scungey hole fullnof junkies, beggars & low-lives that'll happily rob you- the tourist. The pub staff will too in a sense. I'd feel my expectations crushed if I landed here after a few days. It was alot better years back though. Maybe it'll come full circle again.
Can't believe it's your first time in Dublin! Now you'll have to come back and do Galway, Kilkenny, Cork, Donegal town, Westport to name a few....!!! 🇮🇪
Me and my dad are fans of the channel, we’re in a place called tŷ coch, brilliant pub in the middle of nowhere in wales, no Guinness unfortunately but there is welsh stout, thank you for the content keep up the good work.
My wife and I toured around Ireland. While in Dublin we decided to check out a, as you say, a more dodgey pub, lest touristy, to get the real feel of an Irish pub. This one had Michael Collins picture in the front window so we went in and had a nice time talking with locals until an older man sitting beside my wife at the bar grabbed her and planted a kiss on her mouth. Stunned, we bid farewell and quickly made our way out the bar. Surely that story is told repeatedly..."Remember when those Americans came in for a pint?"
Never been to a bad pub in Dublin City Centre, just costs a fortune and stay away from Temple Bar. The Long Hall in the City is a great pub. Great bar staff in Ireland, can serve more than one person at a time and can take multiple orders.
Love the vid. Try an evening /night time Guinness tasting tour next time in the Palace/Bowes and Gravediggers. Can't be drinking Guinness outside in the rain or an almost empty pub in the morning! The secret ingredient of Guinness in Dublin/Ireland is a packed pub full of bonhomie! All your scores will go through the roof! Second trip is a must mate! In the Temple Bar pub you pay for the morning to night-time music-not the quality of a pint. Pity ya didn't get better weather lads -still thanks for the upload-I enjoyed that!
Great Video mate. The Temple bar proper take the piss with their prices. Went to Dublin last year with the missus and spent 200 euros in one afternoon 😮😮 Love Dublin but christ its expensive 😂😂
Been waiting for this one. Great stuff. In my 6 years living in Ireland, Bowes is my go to pub in Dublin for a Guinness. Never had a bad one in there. Love the Gravediggers in Summer, but find the Guinness to be slight less consistent than Bowes. Reckon Galway or Kerry has the best good pint to pub ratio, though.
I haven't had a drink in years, but 12 years ago in my home town of Thurles, Tipperary, Ireland 🇮🇪, a pint of Guinness ( absolutely delicious) was just €4.00 no way in hell would I drink in Temple Bar, Guinness is shite and too damn expensive. Dublin Pubs on North Strand & Amien Street, Dolphins Barn & Caple Street and others off the main road, Dubliners pubs, great pint, not expensive. The further away from Dublin the more tasty the pint of Guinness. I once had a pint of Guinness in a pub in Edinburgh Scotland, it was almost as delightful as my local pub in Thurles. Unfortunately the price of Alcohol has driven people from pubs and this lead to widespread closures throughout Ireland. Another disaster by a useless government. Now they realise their price rises were a mistake, they are reducing prices in the next budget. Too late for all those family owned pubs throughout Ireland... I miss the Craic and Banter in my old local pub..
Flooding the country with people who do not drink though is also a terrible idea. All those benefits are being shipped abroad instead of back into the economy.
Tourists come to Ireland sold on the the idea of 'craic & ceol' unaware that an old school Irish pub is hard to find these days. The country used to be full of top notch pubs but since the smoking ban came in, followed by higher prices, drink driving crackdown, lower off licence prices/supermarket deals, the Covid lockdown, the younger generations 'dry' approach to life, healthier lifestyles etc.... the Irish Pub is becoming part of folklore. I came of age in the lates 80's/early 90's and the pubs were full even though nobody had much money or disposable income back then. Who can forget Italia 90/USA 94?? Even the WC is SK/Japan was fun. The party vibes fizzled out when the Celtic Tiger popped!
I visited Ireland in 1986 and the currency was The Irish Punt. Beers were the same price all over the country I recall. 4 punts a pint. Not cheap but uniform pricing. 😊
Wendel…”the reason it won’t be perfect is cuz someone in there will piss me off” 😂😂 quality & normally very true! Great team you two are top vid Danny really enjoyed it pal👊

Proper sesh guys and soldiering on for the sake of content so admirable 😁 A debt collector seeking refuse in many a rough pub I never once encountered issues , in peoples homes it was different...you're invading their personal space. Only time you'll ever have an issue is if you're looking for it and the locals will close rank. Such an amazing treat tonight , thanks guys 👍
Wow glad you survived. If your a fan of rough drinking establishments, come to the U.S. and visit the beautiful and historic cities of St Louis, Memphis, and Detroit. They might not be as rough as your use too, but you should have a good time non the less.
In case anyone doesn't recognise them, the mural at 27m 25s is of Brendan Behan, the following one is James Joyce, both notable Dublin writers. The Auld Triangle is the name of a famous prison song, the triangle being the equivalent of a bell or siren which was rang in prison.
Couldn't fhink of a better job then travelling to different cities and drinking pints 😂 Good to see you come over to ireland, dublin the most expensive place but we have so many great places like cork, kilkenny or galway.

Bowes was bangin! Varies different days init as you say. Cheers pal 👍
Noctors brings back some good memories....some great laughs...last time about 35 years ago...
Does the other lad just pretend to know what he's talking about all the time? The confidence in how he incorrectly pronounces Padraig and talks about the 'Irish uprising' is astounding.
I know ,typical Brits. The lack of knowledge here about Irish history was embarrassing.
Yeh what a tosser he is
Padraig Pearce born in 1916??? Lived till 2016!
Young fella to lead a revolution eh? G'wan Pad-ray-ge!
Imagine if there was a Siobhan, Siadbh, Tadhg or Fionnula in the house 😄
He's an English man trying to show an interest in Irish history. Who cares if he mispronounces 'Padraig'. I'd wager most Irish people know little to nothing about English history.
Gravediggers used to be my local. The Guinea Grill does a great pint of the black stuff in London, and get a wee plate of lamb chops, job done. Love the channel guys. 🙂👌🏻🍻
1. Go on UA-cam
2. See that Honest Places has a new upload
3. Click the like button before you've even watched it because you know it's guaranteed to be an absolute banger
🤣🤣🤣 i'll take that pal
Great post as always, as a Brummie I’ve only been to Dublin once and it was superb if not a bit expensive. Cold, gale force wind, rain, a thing of beauty. Achieved my personal best of 11 pints of Guinness over a long day, in a mix of tourist pubs and some gritty ones definitely better over there. Did Westport after which was beautiful
Beamish is quality, I live the North so I very seldom see it on tap, but I prefer it to Guinness, much creamer, it's a rare treat.
Not been to Dublin for 7 years. Think I’ll be making a return after watching this 👍🏼
More then welcome but make sure you get a pint of the black Guinness into yeah son💪😆
Peter's Pub and The Lotts were the best pints I had on a recent visit. And the Peter' Pub sandwiches are next level !
Peters used to be my local when I worked in South King Street (Pint mustve come on ? it wasnt that great 25 years ago !)
😂😂😂 Dublins roughest pubs you havin a laugh m8
It is what it is
Great to see Wendell 🍻
Brilliant 🤩 your adverts are the bolloxs 😂🎉 cheers 🍻
Cheers pal....really appreciate it 👍
The adverts are lovely….ill give them 7,7…
Me and my dad are fans of the channel, we’re in a place called tŷ coch, brilliant pub in the middle of nowhere in wales, no Guinness unfortunately but there is welsh stout, thank you for the content keep up the good work.
Cheers pal. The stout good?
Perfect timing. Heading down to Dublin tomorrow. Had a few pints at Biddles in Belfast today. Cheers
'Bittles' but yeah, well known for it's pints. Enjoy yer travelling.
Welcome to Dublin mate! Weird seeing you do a video in my neck of the woods after watching so many of your previous videos.
Getting the week off on the right foot with an Honest places episode. Big fan from Toronto, looking forward to a Wolverhampton video one day.
Dont know about those being anywhere near most dodgy pubs but great vid none the less
All recommened these ones. Cheers pal
Philadelphia checking in. New sub but i see you are a Lamb of God fan, i think we just became good pals. ROCK ON!!
Up the metal! Cheers pal
Hahahah mad story but I wouldn’t say it’s uncommon. Plenty of American tourists
Yanks aren't used to taking liberties in other peoples' countries. 🤣
Never been to a bad pub in Dublin City Centre, just costs a fortune and stay away from Temple Bar. The Long Hall in the City is a great pub. Great bar staff in Ireland, can serve more than one person at a time and can take multiple orders.
Bit pokey in there tho I prefer the Celt near Connolly station. Belter pub that la
Cheers pal. Yeh i do later ones now and again, just had to fly back same day init. Gravediggers is a must again 100%
Great Video mate. The Temple bar proper take the piss with their prices. Went to Dublin last year with the missus and spent 200 euros in one afternoon 😮😮 Love Dublin but christ its expensive 😂😂
Jesus....take me weeks to get over spending that much 😭
@@honestplaces Mate!! I'm still getting over it 😂😂
Channel just keeps getting better mate👍
Cheers pal 👍
What's next? Ireland's HARDEST supermarkets...
I had a Guinness zero in Belfast last year to try it. One of the best pints of Guinness I’ve had! Great video lads, all the best from Glasgow.👍🏻
Padraig...(PAW-RICK)
Delighted I came across your guys videos too. Love em :)
I flinched the way they pronounced Padraig
It's on my bucketlist a walkabout/Guiness piss-up in Ireland! Cheers from Australia👍
Wendall cameo always welcomed 😂
Makes it less lonely 🤣
Been waiting for this one. Great stuff. In my 6 years living in Ireland, Bowes is my go to pub in Dublin for a Guinness. Never had a bad one in there. Love the Gravediggers in Summer, but find the Guinness to be slight less consistent than Bowes. Reckon Galway or Kerry has the best good pint to pub ratio, though.
brave man ordering a guinness zero down ballybough
I've been waiting for this!! thank you x
@@BlackCubeSimulation flooding it with people who don't eat frys is also a disgrace😅
Em, no. £4 is €5. 1986 a pint might have cost you a pound. And no one called a pound a punt.
Wendel…”the reason it won’t be perfect is cuz someone in there will piss me off” 😂😂 quality & normally very true!
Great team you two are top vid Danny really enjoyed it pal👊
🤣🤣🤣 cheers pal
Religious watcher of your videos and also a big LoG fan here.. Been listening to them for over 20 years and seen them live a few times too.. Did not know that happened to Randy, that's nuts!
Clonliffe House, a great pint. €5.
Hahah I was thinking to myself he's on the gear just as you brought it up...hence why you were flying ahead on the pints. 🤣
Flying ahead is being called an alcoholic 🤣
@@honestplaces well sure, you were in the right place then. ;)
Some charachters in The Windjammer pub opens at 7am... Great guiness also, head up to stoneybatter some great boozers right up to hanlons corner...
you can go to pub anywhere in Ireland and you'll be made welcome
100%
Ha ha... you keep thinking that
@@billking7925 and why would you not? as long as you keep to yourself and dont cause a scene you are grand
Especially if you are wearing a Rangers top.
@@johnmitchell2269 and why would you go into a pub in Ireland in the first place wearing a rangers top?
Great video mate! Good to see you in Ireland 😃 Gravediggers is all I ever hear about & I have never been there and I live here - need to get on it!
Wendell is a big girls blouse 😭
💪
Man'd up in the end 🤣
Lads .. Good video but you missed out on some great pubs around the Grafton Street area. Maybe on next trip ... with a jacket 😍
Proper sesh guys and soldiering on for the sake of content so admirable 😁
A debt collector seeking refuse in many a rough pub I never once encountered issues , in peoples homes it was different...you're invading their personal space.
Only time you'll ever have an issue is if you're looking for it and the locals will close rank.
Such an amazing treat tonight , thanks guys 👍
you and Wendell should do Cork City together ' the HOME ' of Beamish.....is what it is like.. 🙂
Murphy's dream too!
I love that you can see where the permanently streaming earth cam sits (along the upper window sill of the pharmacy opposite the temple bar) 👍🏼
My Husband and I went to the Guinness Brewery in Dublin a week ago have a certificate for poring the perfect pint 🙃
Beamish and Murphy's are my top 2 followed by Guinness...
A shot of Irish whiskey in Guinness gives it a nice upgrade.
Try Finches in West Clondalkin.
It’s North Clondalkin
Wow glad you survived. If your a fan of rough drinking establishments, come to the U.S. and visit the beautiful and historic cities of St Louis, Memphis, and Detroit. They might not be as rough as your use too, but you should have a good time non the less.
In case anyone doesn't recognise them, the mural at 27m 25s is of Brendan Behan, the following one is James Joyce, both notable Dublin writers.
The Auld Triangle is the name of a famous prison song, the triangle being the equivalent of a bell or siren which was rang in prison.
Good read that pal 👍
I recognised JJ but not Behan, though he looked familiar.
The Chancery on the quays was ruff as a badgers,It use to open at 6am for the club casualty’s “Think it’s shut now”
Good to see yeas over to Dublin should have tried confession box pub city centre
Couldn't fhink of a better job then travelling to different cities and drinking pints 😂
Good to see you come over to ireland, dublin the most expensive place but we have so many great places like cork, kilkenny or galway.
Big fan of Guinness 0.0 especially when it's on proper taps and not the can extraction system.
Yeh.is the best alcohol free on the market
I had my one and only Guinness in the Guinness factory. Now with the randomness of the quality of the Guinness in your videos, I may not have another :D
I'm starting in the Grave diggers when I go should of gone last year, need make it happen this time lol
100% start there!
